Toshiya is an absolute beast and I'm so glad that a bassist like him is in the Japanese metal scene which is known for putting more emphasis on bassists
It's from Arche at Budokan, day 2, second encore. I highly recommend getting the version with both days - they're both awesome. Day 2 also has THAT version of Tousei. You know the one. ;)
Kyo singing and yelling with the microphone pulled away from his face is one of my favorite things he does live and it is a moment that takes a lot of crowd participation, the audience has to anticipate the moment when they need to be quiet and they have to actually get quiet. When everyone is in sync you get magical moments like you see in this video.
I still can't believe Kyo is 40 on that video😂 this band inspire me so much in so many ways as an artist, like seriously pls dont ever stop. Please react to more Dir en Grey💕
Kyo(and the band) got better with age and maturity. Ngl watching their early 2000s live vids, they are more theatrics than technical prowess. This vid alone is miles better than the stuff they did in wacken/rock am stuff. I think he got some training after the surgery to take care of his voice too so hopefully he still has his voice until his old age.
Kyo is an OUTSTANDING performer, that’s for sure! The thing that continues to astound me is the fact that he’s literally 5’3”. His entire chest must be vocal chords and lungs! Of course there are other petite powerhouses as well-Ruki from The GazettE (5’3”), Hyde from L’Arc-en-Ciel & VAMPS (5’3”), and Toshi from XJAPAN (5’5”)-all Japanese singers and bands you should REALLY check out!! They’re amazing!! 🖤🤘🏻
length and width of vocal chords hvae alot to do wtih it, thats why you can seea small guy with fcukin insane deep voice and a bigger guy with no power of course the skull also has alot to do with it, wider sinuses and thicker bone structure alows for resonance in the skull and chest caivites a super strong diaphoram can push the air out with much more force then most could muster.
Toshiya on bass is a potent force on stage. Not only is he an amazing bass player, but he is also very interesting to watch on stage. Even though Kyo is often the center of attention, when you see them live and more up close, they are all very into it. Die and Toshiya are really feeling it, and Kaoru (guitar to the left and band leader) is a lot more still but you can see the intensity in his facial expressions. Also, he has problems with his hand (loss of feeling) so in periods he's had to tape the pick to his fingers so he won't drop it while playing. I think that kind of thing discourages too much movement. 😉 The only real stone face is drummer Shinya.
I've met them before and I can say that off stage, they are very chill and quiet. A handsome set of men, as well, if I do say so myself. I've stared eye to eye with Kyo and he was intimidating even when not saying a word. On stage and 5 feet away they are intense musicians. I was in the front on stage left (where Die stands) and watched him and Shinya for a good portion of the concert. They never let up and honestly, I'd say Die had the most fun. I screamed for Shinya a couple times on his solos cause he's literally the best drummer I've ever seen or heard. Toshiya and Kaoru came over to our side a couple times to let some solos loose and you could feel the power resonate off of them. Kaoru's hand has recovered pretty well and I didn't notice any let up or discomfort from him. Kyo is a scary man, and I mean that in the best way. He takes his craft seriously and makes sure that the crowd knows it. His stage presence is off the charts. His vocals are perfection. I hope I can see/meet them again when all this sickness goes way. Everybody deserves to see Dir en Grey live. Truly the best show I've seen in a long time.
Fun fact: many people call this song, the song with the long title. By the way, you need to remember, Kyo is the one that writes all the lyrics for the songs, the guitarist and leader of the group, the one to our left is the one that writes the majority of the music. Toshiya, sometimes kinda starts hopping like a kangaroo, but he still an amazing bassist. Oh, even when he is a guy, he is not handsome, he is beautiful. * This song was part of the movie saw 3 or 4 i don't remember which one. There is an official video of the song with clips of the movie and another without it. * Kyo's back is covered in a single tattoo, in his torso he has a tiger tattoo that was done the old japanese style. This tattoo ends all the way to his groin. The latest tattoo is the one added on his right leg.
Bestial......perfecto...... Wow! Increíble! Hace mas de 15 años que escucho a Dir en Grey..... Créanme que nunca me aburren... Son geniales!!! Una banda longeva de Japón! Saludos a todos desde Sur América Santiago de Chile!! Un abrazos brother!!
Been a fan of them for 20 years now and it’s amazing seeing people discover how mind blowing they are. I’ve seen them live four times now and Kyo is just a master showman. Like watching a majestic clown who’s also a demon.
yeah, Kyo's voice... During one of their lives in Europe the techs f****d up the sound and so everyone standing in front of the stage couldn't hear much through the speakers... I could still hear Kyo's voice without any problems, though, the guy's voice is just that strong.
Something people don't point out, but Kaoru (the guitarist on the left) has a degenerative injury in his picking hand that's prevented him from gripping the pick for some years now. He has to play with it taped to his finger as a result. A few years ago he said he'd been told it would heal if he took a break from music, but I don't know if he's used covid at all to do so.
His hand was working fine before Covid. He has had therapy for quite some time and took up painting. From what I've read about the illness it can come back but at the moment he's doing ok - at least he did not have to tape the pick to his hand for quite some time now.
That was an awesome reaction, guys! Yes, this song is perfect for crowd interaction and it gives me the chills when they are all singing the chorus together X3 Whenever I see Kyo doing the singing without the mic thing I am stunned but the one song and performance where he totally melts my brain each time I watch it is Shokubeni from the Code of Vulgar[ism] - one of the most memorable performances overall for me personally and that has to count for something as all their performances are great and unique. David? I'm loving your suggestions~ would you consider picking something off of Six Ugly some time? PeriXreloaded just did a translation video for Mr. Newsman that would be cool - but I love every song on that EP so everyone would be highly, highly appreciated 🤍 Thank you~
I just love your reactions.... react to some brutal songs from them, Kiri to Mayu (new version) live, ZAN live, Tsumi to Kisei live, try also UNRAVELING, Unknown.Dispair.Lost, Amon, juuyoku or DISABLE COMPLEXES ! this are some very good songs u can react
The Bassist is backbone of the band!
Toshiya is an absolute beast and I'm so glad that a bassist like him is in the Japanese metal scene which is known for putting more emphasis on bassists
Our cute cosplayer!
DIR EN GREYを見てくれて嬉しいし
リアクションがいつも楽しみです😆
Unknown fact: Kyo's vocal is phenomenal because of his smolness. Condensed Portable Talent.
Somewhere along the way he compacted a demon into that little frame. That poor fuckers been screaming to get out since. Love Kyo. Pocket power
Did you notice the silence of the crowd waiting for the scream? That's the power that man wields.
holy shit this is the first time I've seen this live performance of this song. I continue to be blown away by how godlike my favorite band is.
It's from Arche at Budokan, day 2, second encore. I highly recommend getting the version with both days - they're both awesome. Day 2 also has THAT version of Tousei. You know the one. ;)
I saw them perform this live in a small club in Boston and I've never experienced anything like it.

同じ日本人としてDirは本当に誇りです!
Everyone talk about of Kyo. But Toshiya the bassist is so freaking good, one of the best bass players out there

Hmmm thats a lot of 5'3. Is the universe trying to tell us something here? Hahaha
And yet somehow he’s still taller than me 😭😭

I love how Shinya can be slamming away at top speed and his face is still serene as if he was enjoying a leisurely stroll in the park
@@kyotoai Right?! He looks the same as when he strolls around Tokyo on his own channel. So funny.
In my experience I can say that this song is just epic during a live 🤘🏻
Enjoy your reaction! Great performance by Dir en grey. Not an easy song to listen for the 1st time, but it so entertaining.
Just wait to see kyo dressed as a nun 🤣🤣it's my favorite look.
❤
Nash I love it when he dressed as a geisha and had an elegant cigar and his lips were painted red, and you know, his lips are very full.

I could watch this every single whole day too. So damn awesome.
The bassist is Toshiya and yes he has to be one of the best bassists there is. Just friggin beast rather it’s hard to soft melodic lines as well

Yeah just woke up and there was this video. A great start to the day 😁 oh I love this live performance so much, it's from my favorite DVD ❤️🤘
He does that style a lot live. Where he holds the mic away and just screams. He has amazing power lol
You have to go through all of their lineup for this concert ^ Dir en Grey Budokan Day 2 you will not be dissapointed. Obscure is amazing!

A truly surreal performance 🔥
I'll never get over the fact that Kyo's all of like 5'2 and is still one of the scariest, most commanding motherfuckers on stage.
8:28〜That's what I thought…!!
Fun Fact: This song was on the Saw 3D soundtrack... the Saw that featured Chester Bennington as one of the victims I believe
If you ever see Kyo in a interview he is so well spoken and soft spoken
you guys gotta check out behind a vacant image live
This time jon most react to vinushka 🤣 (of dir en grey)

You picked the wrong version. The live from "mode of DUM SPIRO SPERO" is so much better IMHO :D
Legend has it that Kyo has a screamo nuclear reactor in his chest next to his main artery.
