Battle Ready Arms really shows how to move undercut forward to achieve the best undercut you would ever want. Going deeper doesn’t help with glock knuckle
Yup!!! My first Glock I did the way this guy did it in the video and I thought it was good. My next one, I used Battle Ready Arms video and it came out 100 times better.
It's alway's nice to see the polymer come back into a nice 'factory' shine when going through the grit reduction when sanding/polishing. Great work my man.
Anyone trying this might try using a heat gun on high and pass it over quickly over the area you sanded to bring out the black again of the polymer. You should see it get blacker and shinier. Don't melt and distort it though obviously.
When I did the undercutting on my Glock 29 instead of going through several grades of progressively finer grit of sandpapers, I just used a very light touch with the Dremel grinding wheel to eliminate as much scratch masks as possible, when I was satisfied with the final shape of the cut I wrapped a piece of old rag or washcloth around my finger and rubbed the hell out of it. It took about five minutes and the cut surface became smooth and with just the right amount of shine. That was what we called elbow grease.
If you wrap the sandpaper around your rotary tools drum mandrel and tape them on then progress like that up the different grits it will get smooth as glass and shiny black as you get up to 2000 grit. I have even stopped at 1000 before because it was black and smooth as glass by then. If you go past that it just gets shinier. And there is no need to wet the sandpaper when doing it that way either. Doing it by hand is a waste of time and the discoloration looks terrible. It only takes a minute or two with each grit after 600 it is super quick because the dremel does all the work.
Good video! Great info on tools needed helps alot! Last video guy was working on a complete firearm so seeing a stripped framed make me feel comfortable to take your advices
Even a stock Glock has that. It is meant for index finger of the support hand. It's actually the right grip. The Miculek's and most European shooters use that grip. But it's not cool in the US so they don't teach that.
Thanks Brother!!! Yes this is a re-upload, I am uploading all my content back on the channel and working on some new stuff as well. Thanks for the support brother.
Would it be possible to have a deeper trigger guard. My arthritis right trigger finger slightly bent and rubs along the bottom of the guard causing blister. Yes I put on a bandage.
You can stipple aluminum but id recommend a professional gunsmith in this case as it needs to be done with punches, but a non permanent route for aluminum is go with skateboard tape.
Maybe I’m not being clear (which would not be shocking:) I want to “take down” the existing undercut. I need more of an undercut because as of this minute I’m getting calluses directly on the first knuckle of the middle finger of my gun hand. If the undercut was a little more pronounced (more space) it would fix that.
@@theders8590 That undercut is way too deep into the grip end. Point is, its not worth it. Better learn to shot it as it is before adapting to others opinions of what is more comfortable. There is no way in a defence situation anyone is going to shot 100+ rounds or enough rounds to hurt the hand. Let's be realistic.
Jason Stocks I get that it just sounded odd (which was probably the point) to say you “killed” the “dead” gun. Honestly I’d undercut but very conservatively. Just enough because I would be paranoid to destroy the integrity of the frame itself. To me it’s like why not make it a tad bit more comfortable especially since it’s my weapon that I will train with. Though I agree this cut may be a bit too much.
@@theders8590 Don't know ahy people will go any buy glosks then cut it up when there a good piatols out there that shoot just as goos and fit way better in the hand. I have a G22 and love it for what it is. Only thing I did was tweek the triger a little.
Seriously, that was hard to watch. You should never take the sanding drum to the grip when doing an undercut, sand forward on the trigger guard until it gets near the grip. That's a good way to go through to the mag catch
@@TheHobbyGunsmith the undercut is actually good just looks like the finish could use a little polish with dremel. Also I don’t understand why you went so low on handle but overall aesthetics don’t really matter and as long as it works for you!
@@TheHobbyGunsmith you sanded half way through to the mag catch, you don't sand the grip when doing an undercut. You sand the trigger guard, not just put a drum against the grip and go at at

@@noncompliant209cali So in essence your saying all the polymer frame modifiers such as Boresight Solutions, Shuey Custom, and Salient Arms, etc. just to name a few are wrong for modifying the frame in the same manner you just described that is in your opinion incorrect and you are the one that is right...

Thank You very much. i really appreciate it.
Any alternative to the Acra release? Everywhere I’m looking for that Brownells one is out of stock
This looks great. I definitely want to do this to my 19.
I use a dowel rod and 180 grit. Takes awhile, but it's good. There's fiberglass in that nylon, and it disturbs it less, the slower you go.
I agree, i use that method aswell.

I've never tried that, i will look into it. Thank You.
Hi
You should of put heat on it to finish the job I wanted to see it black again
I was going to say the same thing.
A trick i saw on another video was wd40 + the fine sandpaper turns it black again
I've heard of it, but never tried it for myself. may have to attempt this.

Bowstring wax works too

I would not have ground into the handle near the mag-catch.
Why on earth is there stippling on the front of my p07 trigger guard? Can’t seem to find the answer
idk lol sounds like an odd place to place stippling to me.
Probably so that you can use your forefinger to push back on the trigger guard to stabilize the gun. I do all the time.
Even a stock Glock has that. It is meant for index finger of the support hand. It's actually the right grip. The Miculek's and most European shooters use that grip. But it's not cool in the US so they don't teach that.

Looks a little thin. Does it flex when you shoot it or grip too hard?
Not at all.
I made mine a little thin in a G20. It flex’s when pushed up when pushing hard. Do you think it will be a problem? Haven’t shot it yet.
did you have to buy a new frame
would this be the same process for a cz75 D PCR COMPACT in that the frames are made from different materials?
Thank YOU
I dont see why not. if its polymer should work just might melt a little different you need to get a feel for it as you go.
Would it be possible to have a deeper trigger guard. My arthritis right trigger finger slightly bent and rubs along the bottom of the guard causing blister. Yes I put on a bandage.
There is only so much material you can remove before it can cause structural failure, you have to play it by feel.
Got it. Thanks for the reply. @@TheHobbyGunsmith
what model glock was this? and how did it feel when done
Glock 43, felt awesome
