How to fix VW recirculation flap motor V154 or V68 Polo 9N Mk4.
The VW Polo 9N Mk4 problem:
When you press the air recirculation button and it does not start or the recirculator flap doesn't work sometimes.
Air recirculator flap stops working randomly. Recirculator flap doesn't start when in reverse randomly.

Also this problem is related to a much harder problem to diagnose and fix.
If you use Air conditioning AC is on and randomly the car start blowing hot air then cold air by itself.
Or you use the heater and the heater power is lower than before this is because of the flap mixing air from AC and air from the heater core.
The Heater core uses the engine coolant and a radiator to bring heat inside the car cabin so heating will only work when the engine is warm not cold.
If the Heater does not work it might be the heater core being clogged - let me know if you want to see a video about how to unclog the heating core.
If the car moves from cold to hot by itself, this will fix it!
It works for both the air recirculation flap problems and for random changes from cooling to heating inside the car.

I had to disconnect my actuator flap motor and been running the car without it for a year now. However there might be a slight power loss. But not worth the $200 spare part (Volvo). Light on means the flap is open. Not sure on this how it would look like but I didn't have to turn the potentiometer and it would have been very hard to do anyway.
You can replace the whole motor assembly that includes the potentiometer.
In the video the flap was closed when I took it out - you could use it as a reference.
Make sure the flap and hot/cold gears go on the motor gear as shown in the video.

Be interested to know if the hot/cold motor is the same procedure.

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  Год назад

You could remove the heater blower motor and check it but you don't have to.
This motor is for both recirculating flap and for hot cold adjustment. I don't know how it can do both but there is no other motor there on my car.
When you have hot air / cold air problems this fixes it.
This also fixes recirculating flap problems where it turns on and off or not on at all.

      It's straight classic wd-40.
Before, I used contact cleaner on the same thing before and it lasts much less.
Wd-40 inside where the contacts touch. Spray a generous amount and dry the outside with a paper towel.
Don't spray wd-40 on the gears. Those have grease that doesn't need to be disturbed.

The recirculating flap was closed most likely when you took this out.
Move the flap to closed and use a flashlight to see there is a second gear inside next to the recirculating flap.
Watch the video carefully to see the gears position before removing.
You should use a flashlight and don't force it.
Then alignment is correct, this motor slides between the flap gear and the second gear so that it moves both when it's opening and closing.
Hope you get it back in.
