I think what she was trying to say was something like "Hip hop isn't your forte, but you tried your best and if we go home, it's okay." I think she just phrased it in a way that made it seem insensitive and bad.

I'd rather hear from my mother that "its okay if we get sent home" than to think my mother was disappointed in me for getting sent home.
Telling her you're going home and being surprised by staying is better than telling her you're staying and get her hopes up, and letting her down.

I sort of agree that Lexine's mother never said anything wrong. She's reassuring Lexine that it's okay if they go home, that they've gotten the experience they wanted from it. She's trying to lessen the blow if they do really go home. (Idk if she did, didn't watch season 1)

Lexine's mom was trying to lower the pressure on her. Telling your child you are going home, and ending up staying is better than telling them you're staying and ending up leaving.

The mom was doing the right thing. She wasn't disappointed, she was being supportive. In the beginning, she said that the competition was just for the experience, which is right because children are not supposed to be pressured and treated in the way the other parents would because this would affect their attitude and make them boastful. The way she said it in words was wrong though. She said, " I thought you could do the tumbling". It sounded aggressive, but she probably wanted her daughter to tell her what went wrong and learn from her mistakes. She was probably going to say " It's okay" afterward. The other parents were overreacting and she's right, they shouldn't have questioned her because her child is her child and their children are theirs, she was even doing better at parenting than them.
Also, the three mothers have different cultures. Eastern people, Asians, usually don't keep their hopes up but are still positive even if they lose. I guess that Western people, most Caucasians, are very positive, and get slightly disappointed afterward. I am a Filipino and our culture is to work hard and to not expect something in return. I also saw that Jordyn started to talk back at Lexine's mom and that is very disrespectful. If I were to do that, I would immediately get punished, probably forced to kneel in monggo seeds or get spanked by a slipper.
Honestly I think they were right. You encourage your child and build them up and help them fix their mistakes, not immediately tell them they're going to get eliminated after they perform.

I thought Maria was just being compassionate for her daughter...she could see it was stressing the daughter out big time and was letting her off the hook, so to speak. But, I see your point, too. It's excessive and damaging to tell a kid they are going to win all the time but maybe equally damaging to say 'quit, because we know you are going to be eliminated.'
I just noticed that this was the first episode, and Lexine's mom sayas we had enough experience... I don't get it...

Thats not what Maria meant. She meant that her daughter didn't do good enough and that she would be eliminated that day. I agree with the you and moms, you don't tell your child they are going to win all the time but you also don't tell them they are bad enough that they will be eliminated. The way Maria said it (if you watched the full episode) was like she was making the decision about her daughter going home.

for me i dont think shes emplying that her child has failed, she was just trying to comfort her saying that if ever u go home its ok, the other moms just misunderstood her, she didnt say were going home, she said its ok if were going home cuz i think shes just trying to help her daughter fell better, well for me at least, just my interpretation.

I feel like Maria did a good job she knew her daughter dide'nt know how to do hip hop and was stressed because she doeseant know and she was out to do it and she was feeling what her daughter felt so she infact told her it was alright and no need to be stressed or sad. Then the other mothers made everything worse and started correcting Maria when that is plain rude...also people aren't hearing what Lexine said to the other mothers, she hated how they were correcting her mother probably.
It's so stupid when people are stupid about cultural differences. She was softer than a bunch of other Asian moms. Her daughter knew that she did not do very well and she did not want to do that to herself. I honestly seeing this lady was not trying to be disappointed if her kid didn't do well and was sent home. Obviously they wanted to keep trying. The other moms I just dumb for reprimanding her but allowing people to scream at their kids.
