Really enjoyed the video, though the end did come very abruptly. I'm looking forward to more. My game to overcome was Lisboa. I think we are about 5-6 games into that now and we've finally smoothed everything out to where we don't need to be staring at the player aids for how to perform our turns.
Hello friends! What are some Euro games that you were afraid to play cause they were so complex and daunting. I'd love to hear some of your stories in the comment section below. Danny
One thing that always confused me with this game was that I never understood how the worship tiles worked. If I read the rulebook right they seem to be suboptimal especially since your worker is locked. Is there something I'm missing that make it worth doing the worship action?
Yes. When we played, locking workers away was not really a strong strategy. I think locking workers away is more beneficial near the end of the game where you are trying to maximise the effect that they provide. Locking workers away also stops them from ascending as well which means you might have to pay extra cocoa (if they have a pip value of 4 or 5) at the end of each eclipse. We found that locking workers away might be a more viable strategy if you have plenty of cocoa as you can pay 3 cocoa to free them all without losing a whole turn.
@@BoardGameSanctuary Agreed, thats probably my main complaint. Still a great game, but that hangup causes some issues when trying to teach the game since going in those spaces early (which at first glance seems to be a valid strategy) can cause people to fall behind with little chance of catching up. We've wound up using the modular pieces to eliminate the frequency of which you can use the worship action which helps to speed the game up as well
@@chuck1343 If you are ready for it check out the Late Preclassic Period expansion. The new action boards offer ways of unlocking workers from worship sites while taking building actions.

Simply put, an excellent review!

Solid review, played this a few years ago but it didn't grab me, I should probably give it another shot.
You've sold me on this game, now I really want to play it.
If you like dice placement and puzzles. This is definitely a top 10 for me in terms of fun euros.
Very interesting! Usually I was ignoring this T-games… you have awakened my curiosity! Thanks
You are most welcome!
As a Mexican, I approve of this video. 👌
