The company wanted to try something new and experimental while the monsterverse is taking the classic kaiju brawl route, which should be the same case for SP. The difference is that the trilogy tried it so hard it eventually failed when SP still paid tons of homage and respect while being of its own genre.
I love that they even pay homage to the actors of Zilla. After recently binge-watching Godzilla the series it’s actually kinda interesting to see those characters from a different art style (and they look much more like the movie iterations here, Godzilla the series was very loose with their designs. Still a good show though)
plot twist: all of this is canon and we will get a new season with a 5 way godzilla fight since there's references to shin, zilla, zilla junior, the final wars godzilla.(?) and the mv rodan, which kinda hints to an mv godzilla existing

Appreciate that they went out of their way to even acknowledge the 1998 movie with the large footprint in the road. But what was even better for me was the fact they remembered the Zone Family! Toho tries ever harder to forget about Zone Fighter and that series deserves more acknowledgement.

They can't use ultra man here bruh, Ultra man is owned by Tsuburaya not Toho and Orochi the eight headed dragon was GMK Ghidorah if you gave attention about his history in the movie. So well it's just a reference from movies in Godzilla's franchise.
I mean in SP, he probably never made the Oxygen Destroyer, which is why he (or some descendants) are alive. The Oxygen Destroyer does have an SP counterpart called the Orthagonal Diagonalizer, which attacks the red dust composing the kaiju, with it converts the clouds into spikes of red or blue crystal depending on how successful activation is.

I love that they used the Bear Mcreary music as well as the amazing nostalgic classic theme with clips of the entire franchise. Love this, although the series was a little too complicated for me.

They should make an anime like the comics “Godzilla Rivals” series. Just have every episode be a different story that uses different Godzilla designs. One episode could have a silly Showa tone, then another could be like a GMK sequel or a scary Shin Godzilla type story.
I'm extremely hyper happy on how much easter egg reference Godzilla singular point was used for the ending credits, especially the human characters from the Showa era, Heisei era, millennium era and afterwards as well as from the 1998 American Godzilla. Didn't expect them to use Mikako Ichikawa twice and Megumi Odaka as a teenager.
I love how they showed all the monsters except Destroyah and the only 3 that were from space and those are Gigan, Spacegodzilla, and King Ghidorah. Possibly we might get to see them at some point fingers crossed🤞
I wish the series was better, they did such an amazing job with the outro referencing so many different things and characters, even having the original/best designs for most of the monsters, the series itself was just so confusing and didn't seem to connect in the end.
