Thanks for the video, finally one that answers my technical questions. As Im trying to set up for live streaming, I couldnt figure out where the lag came from. Thanks so much.
You explained better than tens of channels i have been browsing trying to figure things out .. Professional lesson .. thank you master .. really thank you
Can you help me with demonstration please. I found many videos on RUclips, but yours stands out for me. If not can you guide me to any relevant practical video you talked about in this video?
Wow. Thank you. Finally some one that explained it that was easy to understand. The only problem I have, is that I am starting to live stream weddings, funerals ect, and I don't have access to wired internet, so I have to use wifi. Do you have any tips for maybe keeping wifi speed up. Cheers for the vid. I will he watching more of your vids tonight.
You'll have to find the bit rate that the wifi can actually sustain through trial and error. Start at the rate you want to stream at and do a test. Then back it down until it's sustained.
Hello friend, thanks for the inputs and videos. what about using sim? (when you dont have cables around) do you recommend using cellular hotspot? sim rauter?
I use obs... When I stream or record a video I don't lag in game. I then go to watch the video and it's smooth but then 2 seconds later it starts glitching Everytime I turn in game.. please help me.
Hi Steve - love your videos & have subscribed to your channel. (1) How do these specs sound for a dedicated streaming Windows machine: - Gigabyte motherboard w/ 6 USB 3.0 ports - Intel i7 processor - 32GB of Kingston RAM - 500 GB SSD drive - 750 W power supply - ASUS GeForce 2060 video card In our roadmap, we plan to use an ATEM Mini to bring in a couple of clean HDMI feeds from our current Canon Rebel SL2 DSLR's (for right now) and look at changing out cameras to a PTZ mounted type and operator-controlled camcorder-style camera. (2) What's your opinion on fiber optic HDMI cables vs SDI ones for under 100 foot cable runs? (3) Is there any loss in running a string like this - HDMI-out from camera to a HDMI-to-SDI convertor - to SDI cable run - back through SDI-to-HDMI convertor into ATEM mini - out to USB3 input into computer running OBS? Thanks for any help, Jeff
Computer specs are great for streaming. i7 processor and that graphic card supports NVENC encoding, so you are on the right track. There is no loss doing the signal path you described HDMI > SDI > HDMI, etc. That is what I would recommend. You can get fiber HDMI cables, and they will work fine, usually they cost more then the SDI method, but that is changing, but my main concern would be how sturdy the fiber cable would be.
@@BallastMedia Thanks for the reassurance! We'd be stringing cable up and out of the way at our church, so I don't think in either case it would get much wear & tear on them. I haven't investigated the costing on fiber-HDMI (someone just mentioned them to me yesterday) vs. SDI+convertors, but I wanted to get your opinion on them before I went down that path.
We stream our worship via WebEx (per church policy we cannot use RUclips); we project the OBS video output to a 2nd screen while Audio output is captured using the "Monitor Only" function in OBS. We then share the 2nd screen to the WebEx participants. For the most part, our experience with this solution is acceptable on occasions however, we run into issues where audio is not consistent from one meeting to the next. Either the audio is very clear or sometimes become choppy and crackly. Have you ever tried this form of solution for worship streaming? If so, do you have any tips to make the audio levels more consistent? Thanks -D
You *should* be able to stream 5Mbps bit rate upload with a 10Mbps upload speed safely. That will make a nice looking 720p stream, or a decent looking 1080p stream.
with i7 7700k rtx 2080ti 16 gb memory ram, 96 Mbps internet lan speed. Can I try 4500 kbps bitrate with encoder nvidia nvenc h264, Key frame 0 , 1920x1080 60 fps ? I often get buffering problems with my stream...the game doesn't lag.
Are you using OBS? Go to the View menu and click Stats. It will show you in there when it lags if it's the encoder (computer can't keep up) or the network (your internet connection).
If you set just the output bitrate, the average bitrate will always be higher. By default it’s +160. Why? Because the bitrate you set under output refers to the video stream. The Extra bandwidth is your audio stream.
Awesome thankyou. I have an issue with streaming. When I'm in OBS studio there is no lag but in youtube it happens 30 seconds later so i have a 30 second lag. It's all in sync just all happens 30 seconds later. Is this normal or can i reduce this? Kind regards Simon
I have an issue, every time i create a youtube live stream and send a link out to family.on the actual day of the funeral ( well three different funerals) ...it said waiting for me to allow streaming. What have I done wrong?
Blessings Mr. Ballas. We were streaming with Wifi for a while so I knew that it would buffer a lot! However, we recently got ethernet but still keeps buffering on both youtube and FB the error on youtube says "not enough picture coming to run smooth" (something like that) the speed we have to upload says 41.14Mbps so a have a bitrate of 3000 on OBS. Canvas resolution is at 1920x1980 and output resolution is 1920x720 FPS values at 60. our comp specs are i7 8th gen and 16g memory card. I also did the Latency checker and says that this computer should support it. SO... I have no idea what else I could do to fix it. I thank you in advance for your help and time I pray for you to be very blessed.
Couple things... Drop your frame rate in OBS canvas to 30fps. Not much reason to go to 60fps for a live stream unless your doing sports or something. 2nd, in OBS go to the View menu, then click Stats while you are streaming, this should give you an idea of where the issue is, dropped frames from network, or from encoding. (Encoding your computer isn't keeping up, network your internet connection isn't keeping up)
Ballast Media I’ll do that. About the fts I put it on 60 Bc RUclips kept saying that the delay was at 8min and it was causing buffering, so mess with it (not really know what I was doing) and that error stopped. But still is buffering... anyway I’ll tray this changes hopefully once we livestream we can see the issue. Thank you so much again for your time not only with the videos but answering all of our questions. God bless you always.
@@BallastMedia Hi again.. so I've seen the stats while streaming and the were some red letters it said : "Frames missed due to rendering lag 1119/20107 (5.6%), skipped frames do to encoding lag 2668/17838 (15.0%) " I have no idea what that means nor how to fix it. I appreciate you help and time, blessings!
@@Celene77 so it sounds like the computer is struggling to keep up with the encoding. Does your computer happen to have an nvidia graphics card? If so, try changing your encoder from h.264b to the nvenc setting. If not, lower your but rate to 2500.
@Ballast Media no, I have Intel UHD Graphics 620 but for some reason I haven’t been able to update it since I got this PC. I’ll lower the bit rate then. Again I thank you so so much for your help. May God bless you always!
Hi Steve, I was just watching this video in regard to live stream buffering and i wanted to know how to try and solve my issue though im having trying to stream my church services but i'm noticing that the video image being uploaded is buffering. I'm using Wirecast for my software and i'm using it on my Intel I3 16GB Dell laptop. I ran Speedtest and the resuilt was 94.75 for the download and 21.61 for the upload. My output settings for Wirecast is 720p30 (4Mbps) x 264H. I'd like to know if my settings im using are correct for the amount of internet speed i have or do i have to change my settings or could my issue be something else as in i might need more internet bandwith. I'm not sure as i'm trying to figure this all out. I know you mention that your bitrrate must be half of your upload speed but i need to understand it a bit more to get more clarity as your help would be appreciated. Thanks
I will try this tonight. I have done over 50 streams but the last two seem to have a delay by 6 or 7 minutes. It starts off fine but then seems to drop back
but i have this problem. Someone's livestream on RUclips is freezing. and i keep having to refresh to see them Not-freeze, but then a few seconds later they freeze again. It's not them! It's me. This freezing in a few seconds keep happening over and over. And when i go to the cam model's live stream. Everyone of them is glitchy and glitchy. So i know there's something with me. This has never happen before. What is causing this. help!
Hello! Thank you for this video. We had an issue with Facebook premiere today. This technically isn’t a stream as we uploaded the file ahead of time and Facebook broadcasts at the set time even if we aren’t live. Any advice for skipping/lagging there?
I recently ran into an issue that upon research, many other seem to have also report. A few minutes after starting to livestream OBS completely drops the audio (which is also reflected on the livestream). The audio levels on are still strong on an external monitor (over HDMI out), however OBS doesn't show any levels. It always seems to happen minutes after hitting Start Stream. Any experience with this issue? Thanks!
I haven't experienced this, but from what I've seen other people saying, it might be due to other applications (browser?) taking over control of the audio device. In the audio device that you are using, go to the Advanced tab of it's properties and UNcheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device." and see if it makes any difference.
I don't get it because can live on ESPN, RUclips, and UFC fight Pass but when I tried to use DAZN a boxing platform it studders or buffers! I use that latency software you recommended it says I should be able to stream?!
This helped a great deal to explain about buffering, thanks! If we've done all and folk are still complaining, how do we know it's not just their poor service? I've watched at times the same stream as others from beginning to end with no problems yet some will always report it buffered constantly while they watched.????
I have a question regarding typical online or live video streaming.. is the live video directly broadcasted to end users to view "before been stored or recorded?" , or its first stored then streamed out of the storage to end users? Thank you in advance
Usually when "live streaming" the video is sent out directly as it happens (and can be recorded as well at the same time). But, that doesn't mean you can't take a previously recorded video and play it back as you live stream.
@@BallastMedia does the FPS have anything to do with it? I'm using 60 was wondering if dropping it to 30 would help... ... I do the live streaming for our church and this is the first time I have had this problem
I don't know why it is that only my videos are buffering on RUclips . Is it possible that RUclips creating some problem for my videos only, especially the one that I have on the scooter with my genius dog. Can you let me know how to fix the problem. Or maybe that is no problem if somebody is watching in someplace else
My stream isn't glitching or buffering, but my facebook livestream is about 20 seconds behind. Is that normal? Running two cameras through my ATEM mini pro with OBS.
my upload speed is 0.76MBPS can you please help me figure out the bitrate for my youtube live stream.....i want to live stream on my utube and it keeps buffering
Yes. If your upload speed is 760 and you were set to 1500 you were trying to upload twice the amount of bandwidth that your connection has available. (which obviously won't work.)
If 350 is stable you can try bumping that closer to 760, maybe try 450 next and then 550, at some point you'll notice it start to buffer again, back it down a bit and see if its stable. Usually though you start at half your upload speed.
I have a 6.6 Mbps rate. I want to do 1080p60, and while most of the time it goes smoothly, it drops several frames and then goes back to a smooth frame rate and then goes sluggish again etc etc I have more than enough of the required hardware and I use wired internet. Should I just get a better internet provider/connection?
Yes, what bit rate are you using for your encoder? I'm assuming you mean you have 6.6Mbps UPload speed? You'd usually run 1080p60 at 6000kbps, so that's really pushing your upload speed, you'd probably want 12Mbps UPLOAD to accomplish 1080p60.
This is great. Thank you. Can you give me ideas on how to make changes to my Facebook livestream so that there is no buffering for the yogis following my daily livestreams on Facebook. I have great upload and download speeds, use an ethernet cable and no other programs are running when I am livestreaming. How do I know if the problem is from my end or from the viewers end? Thank you!!
Are you using obs? Go to the View menu and click Stats. If everything looks solid (no dropped frames) then the issue is most likely on the viewers end. You can also check on the Facebook setup page and see what they are reporting for your stream health.
Do you have a video that covers recommendations for OBS setting for streaming that help to decrease choppiness in movement such as hand gestures/talking with hands?
Relatable with Stephanie Michele Have you seen my video on optimizing OBS? ruclips.net/video/yTt5IxFWaEM/видео.html. Are you sure the issue you are having is with the streaming and not a camera setting?
Just watched. That was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much! I am going to review the setting this week and let you know how it goes. In regards to your question, I know it is not a camera setting because I have reviewed raw video footage from the camera and it is fine. Are you available for consulting work?
i checked my internet speed and it was 19.xx , higher then what you showed and my youtube livestreams still lag and jump ,, i dont know what to do ...... smh
Are you using OBS to stream? Take a look under the View menu at Stats. Is anything showing up red or orange in there? It could be your computer isn't keeping up with your encoding settings.
Hello Mate! Does the AJA u tap also encodes video like the black magic Design H.264 before it sends it to a computer so that the load of encoding is relieve from the computer? Hope this makes sense. Thank!!!
can you assist me... I have followed everything you have advised... my stream still is not working. i hear sound ok but video doesn't work... it keeps giving me a circle that keeps circling and circling
I checked the website to test my internet speed and it's at a whopping 125 Mb/s upload speed. At least I think it's a 'whopping' number, but is it? Please let me know if you can.
Yes, If your internet can sustain that it's a good speed. That doesn't mean you need to use that much. For 1080p video on youtube, run at about 6-8Mbps and see if you are happy with the quality and if the stream is stable.
I used to create livestreams with obs or Nvidia Geforce Experience without issues but now i've got buffering issues everytime i livestreaming on YT or anyother platform.. How to fix the issue? My internet speed is excellent i'm getting over 70mb/s and 10-15mb/s upload speed.
Would you please show how to navigate TO the Output in the Settings menu? In my Windows 10 (is that what you're using?) there is NO "Output" icon in Settings display. Help!
That is really odd. You might want to try re-installing OBS. You mean when you click the Settings button right below "Start Recording" you don't have an Output page?
Sorry, buddy. You're going to have to start more basic than even THAT... WHAT is OBS? (I typed that question to RUclips and never got a clear explanation video; maybe you could recommend one?) And where does the "Start Recording" page come up?
Sir... my upload speed is 52mbps but i use wifi.. so what my bitrate for stream 1080p 60 and 1060p30?? Because i got stuttering on my live stream but in game smooth.. can you help me?
Hello I'm using obs & zoom for my facebook live streaming but lately i'm having problem using this two my video in obs is getting slow or lagging affecting my stream become choppy. I hope you could share some solutions, thank you
When I use apowermirror to connect my iphone to pc, My apowermirror is starting to lag/delay when I start streaming but when I stop it, it goes normal again and I think the wifi is the problem. I'm trying to connect my iphone to the ethernet using usb cable for iphone or connecting it to pc but I don't know if its gonna work but if it works, what is the best option of this two (connect to ethernet or connect it to pc) ?
I need to share a prerecorded video in a live streamed zoom meeting. The video is 162MB 720p 30fps. What settings and system ability would the computer need to have to make the stream smooth?
Hmmm, not sure exactly - there are several things at play that could lead to playback not being smooth. How long is that video at 162MB, that's not all that large, so it shouldn't be your computer playback. More likely it's an issue with zoom dropping frames. What upload speed does your internet connection measure at? Also, are you connected over wifi, or hardwired with ethernet?
Hi would like to ask why my main account cant join any live stream and it keeps loading like hell! Please help! much appreciated! I have very good Connection
Not sure what you mean "main account." You mean on facebook, you are trying to launch a live stream? Can you tell me more about what you are using? OBS? Stream key, etc?
I have a question I'll be watching my live stream and I noticed that I'm lagging behind because sometimes I get my phone and I be watching the same thing I noticed that my phone is way ahead of my iPad so do you know how to fix that? Thank you.
As long as the playback is smooth on each device then you really don't have a problem to fix. That's just the way lIve streaming works. The absolute timing (how long is takes to get to your device for playback) can vary widely, up to 10s of seconds.
Just a question: I was streaming on twtich that has like a 5 or 10 second delay between me and the live stream but I tired both dlive and youtube also and they are over a minute. I don't have very many viewers and like to talk to them so a delay that long is too much. I have found a few threads saying that twitch has the least lag, is that true or am I doing something wrong on other services?
There is always going to be a certain amount of delay that occurs between your live video, and what reaches your destinations, and up to 10 seconds isn't unusual. Unfortunately that's just a fact of the way livestreaming works at the moment.
@@BallastMedia I have a live clock on my stream when I was do a 24 hour stream. I notice with YT and Dlive it was over a minute, I think YT was like 2 minutes but Twitch only had 5 seconds. I think this might be a reason Twitch is popular, less lag. I have no idea what magic they do but their servers are somehow better than Google's. DLive is peer to peer(I think) so delay there makes sense.
My streaming issue is only with one station, the Fox News channel. Every time it goes to commercial it freezes/ buffers. Then if I can get channel back by pressing ff button on fire stick the sound is gone. Then I force stop program, then reopen channel and repeat above. WTF!
I’m having issues on iPhone 7 during live-streams. My phone is my only source of internet (I don’t use my husband’s computer) I’m moderating a few channels and I notice a large delay, not good. Any idea about RUclips settings iPhone? Thank you!
Ballast Media yes. I noticed people reply to the channel creator and I see it in the chat before I hear channel creator speaking. Hope that makes sense
My guess (and this is totally a guess) is that your phone is having to buffer the video more then other devices, so the video is delayed enough to be noticeable. Not sure if there is any fix for that, other then to watch on a computer that has a hardline ethernet connection.
Been looking for a video like this was about to give up. I'm really stumped with the lousy quality of my livestream. Doing multiple tests and I can't solve the lousy quality picture. I will try your suggestions. Can a 5G network help too??? Thanks again. I'll sub your channel and look at some more of you vids. This lousy video is driving me nuts!!!
Quality of the image is dependent on 2 things. 1. the quality of the image you start with coming out of the camera, and 2. the bit rate. Check out my video on optimizing OBS for live video: ruclips.net/video/yTt5IxFWaEM/видео.html
I can't watch live football from differentiate links even if i have good internet connection . It buffers so much . If i follow the procedure of this video , will it be solved , pls reply.
This video is about "uploading" a live stream, it sounds like you are trying to watch a live stream. But that being said, a lot of similar things would apply. What is your download speed, and is it sustained? What are the spec's of your computer, can it handle the size of the video you are trying to play?
Download would be a little different. Your player should adjust to your download speed automatically. It would buffer if you're internet connection (or computer) aren't capable of sustaining it's minimum bit rate that it will download.
Mine is still lagging on youtube. I have a Upload speed on 50 mbit, should i then put it on 25000 bitrate? If i should it is still lagging. I have checked all your steps, but isnt solved. And im not using wifi, im using hardware cable. Help mee
Sejeniclas What resolution are you streaming? A full 1080p image doesn't need much more then 4000-6000 bit rate. Just because you have that upload doesn't mean others can download it. Also, that sounds like a download speed, are you on fiber?
Ok i changed it to 5000 bit rate, but is still lagging. I could stream perfectly on twitch, but i like youtube better, and want to stream there, but its so laggy there. And loading sometimes. And yea im on fiber: gyazo.com/69d383dc1e102243d40c7afd18c8bd52
Sejeniclas Are you using OBS? What is it reporting for cpu usage when you are streaming? Keep walking your bit rate down until the stream is solid. Try 4000, 3500, 3000 etc until it's solid.
I cant use ethernet, and and I have a wifi adapter for my computer and it run 1900bps (i think thats the abreviation) what can i do to make my streams not buffer, and run smoother?
Hi Sir, I have 30Mbps Up speed and also a Intel celeron processor and a 4gb ram and i want to stream in Facebook for my gaming it is possible? And what is the settings thanks in advance
If you are doing a 1080 stream, then start at 6MBps - but a Celeron/4GB might not handle that, so you may need to back your bit rate down until it's stable. You may be better off just going with a 720 stream and going with 2.5Mbps and see if your machine can encode that.
Hi Ballast, I'm looking for a thread in google on how to fix my live stream in church, I'm Streaming at OBS on FB live. I hope you can help me with this. Here's my problem when I stream in obs, everything looks good -> my stats are in a healthy state, my CPU usage, dropping frames indicators are fine and it says I'm streaming at 0.0 drop frames. But when I play it on my iPhone, the video is jumping and passing about 2-sec intervals every 5 seconds of the stream. But when I hover to the previous part it's working fine, no jumping and lagging. This happens only when I hover in a live state. I tried to monitor this on different phones and only for iphone this happends. but for android its working fine Here are my Specs and Setting. HP Omen Laptop i7 9th Gen Stream at 1280px720p base canvas and output resolution 6000kbps bitrate 2 keyframe interval x264 Cat 6 Lan Cable Connection

Can you go to my facebook page (linked in the description above) and send me a message? Take a screen shot of your encoder settings and I can tell you if something looks off. Also, in OBS, go to your View menu and click Stats while you are streaming, this will give you a good indication of what your system is having a hard time doing.
Im having extreme buffering problems for ESO. I mainly stream Call of Duty Modern warfare and had no issues. my PC SPECS: Ryzen 7 2700x clocked @4ghz RTX 2080 16GB Ram 3000Mhz and 36mb upload speed with 230mb Download speed. I usually streamed at 1080p 60fps with no issues my bitrate is at 6000 steady. BUT when i go to stream ESO it constantly keeps buffering endlessly and im not sure why. I tried lowering resolution to 720p 30fps and to no avail it doesn't work. my Bitrate was raised to 7000 bit rate and my stream STILL endlessly buffers. if ANYONE can help me on whats going on i would greatly appreciate it and will be indebted to you. I just want a solution to this so i can go back to streaming like normal. If it helps i am running a 144hz Monitor @1440p and am playing the game at 220-240fps. Please in am looking for help and went to multiple videos and none of them helped including this one. Thanks Everyone for reading!
Are you having issues when streaming? What bit rate are you streaming at? The latency (ping) in your network is usually related to your ISP and is a function of the type of connection you have, cable modem, DSL, etc. (Unless you are using wifi which also has higher latency.)
Ballast Media I lowered my OBS settings to 720 base res and 720 output res because as soon as I opened Facebook my camcorder feed froze instantly. Once I lowered the setting it allows my feed to continue
my upload speed is 105.32mbps. Whenever i stream live on facebook.. the viewship gets cut off and wont escalate. The stream is very laggy. How do i solve this. Thank you in advance.

(1) How do these specs sound for a dedicated streaming Windows machine:
- Gigabyte motherboard w/ 6 USB 3.0 ports
- Intel i7 processor
- 32GB of Kingston RAM
- 500 GB SSD drive
- 750 W power supply

In our roadmap, we plan to use an ATEM Mini to bring in a couple of clean HDMI feeds from our current Canon Rebel SL2 DSLR's (for right now) and look at changing out cameras to a PTZ mounted type and operator-controlled camcorder-style camera.
Thanks for any help,
Jeff

Are you using OBS? Go to the View menu and click Stats. It will show you in there when it lags if it's the encoder (computer can't keep up) or the network (your internet connection).
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! God bless you!
If you set just the output bitrate, the average bitrate will always be higher. By default it’s +160. Why? Because the bitrate you set under output refers to the video stream. The Extra bandwidth is your audio stream.
This has been extremely helpful for me! Thank you!
Awesome thankyou. I have an issue with streaming. When I'm in OBS studio there is no lag but in youtube it happens 30 seconds later so i have a 30 second lag. It's all in sync just all happens 30 seconds later. Is this normal or can i reduce this? Kind regards Simon
That's normal. Just a part of streaming over the internet.
That’s good recommendations!!! Thanks, short video, good and clear advices
I have an issue, every time i create a youtube live stream and send a link out to family.on the actual day of the funeral ( well three different funerals) ...it said waiting for me to allow streaming. What have I done wrong?
You tube cuts off during my livestream. Three times it cut off and I had to start over. Any thoughts?
Are you using OBS to stream? Or directly through the browser? Are you on Wifi or through an ethernet connection?
Very professional. Very helpful. Thanks.
Good explaining..........
Thank you for a real straight forward and informative video
Excellent explanation! Thank you so much!
@@BallastMedia Hi again.. so I've seen the stats while streaming and the were some red letters it said : "Frames missed due to rendering lag 1119/20107 (5.6%), skipped frames do to encoding lag 2668/17838 (15.0%) "
I have no idea what that means nor how to fix it.
@Ballast Media
no, I have Intel UHD Graphics 620 but for some reason I haven’t been able to update it since I got this PC. I’ll lower the bit rate then.
Again I thank you so so much for your help. May God bless you always!
Hi Steve,
I was just watching this video in regard to live stream buffering and i wanted to know how to try and solve my issue though im having trying to stream my church services but i'm noticing that the video image being uploaded is buffering.
Thanks
I'd guess your computer doesn't have enough power to run wirecast. An i3 processor has a really hard time encoding video.
What is causing this. help!
This video really helped a lot. Thank you.
Hello! Thank you for this video. We had an issue with Facebook premiere today. This technically isn’t a stream as we uploaded the file ahead of time and Facebook broadcasts at the set time even if we aren’t live. Any advice for skipping/lagging there?
What is the resolution and bit rate of the video you upload?
Now that we have Wi-Fi 6 pretty much everywhere and 6E is right behind it.
Do we foresee issues with Wi-Fi considering aforementioned?
I don't have my hopes up. It's not about top speed, live streaming is about consistent, sustained throughput.
what do you mean dont use wifi what if your cable modern is not it the room you ned to stream from?
Run an ethernet cable from the cable modem to your computer.
Your videos are really helpful! Thanks !
Very clearly described God bless you, Gid bless you
What about streaming from the consoles like PS4 its fine with me but I still see a small buffer
Great Video...
... quick question my frame/camera kept freezing in obs but my audio kept playing any ideas on how to fix this?
In OBS go to the view menu and click Stats, check this whole you are streaming. Anything showing up red?

Or maybe that is no problem if somebody is watching in someplace else
My stream isn't glitching or buffering, but my facebook livestream is about 20 seconds behind. Is that normal? Running two cameras through my ATEM mini pro with OBS.
Yes, there will always be a delay to facebook. Sometimes up to 2 minutes behind.
Ballast Media good to know! Is RUclips better In that regard?
@@HomesteadPictures not really, its the same. I do believe that RUclips has a low latency mode for gamers you could try.
my upload speed is 0.76MBPS can you please help me figure out the bitrate for my youtube live stream.....i want to live stream on my utube and it keeps buffering
You need to stream at about 350kbps. If you are using OBS, enter 350. That's not much data, so keep your video size small/SD, like 640x360.
so i have to enter 350 in the bitrate option right now i have 1500 and yes i am using OBS
I want to do 1080p60, and while most of the time it goes smoothly, it drops several frames and then goes back to a smooth frame rate and then goes sluggish again etc etc
I have more than enough of the required hardware and I use wired internet.
What does buffering mean?
This is great. Thank you. Can you give me ideas on how to make changes to my Facebook livestream so that there is no buffering for the yogis following my daily livestreams on Facebook. I have great upload and download speeds, use an ethernet cable and no other programs are running when I am livestreaming. How do I know if the problem is from my end or from the viewers end? Thank you!!
Are you using obs? Go to the View menu and click Stats. If everything looks solid (no dropped frames) then the issue is most likely on the viewers end. You can also check on the Facebook setup page and see what they are reporting for your stream health.
@@BallastMedia Thank you. I will investigate!!

WTF!
Why is my OBS getting disconnected to the server?
I’m having issues on iPhone 7 during live-streams. My phone is my only source of internet (I don’t use my husband’s computer) I’m moderating a few channels and I notice a large delay, not good. Any idea about RUclips settings iPhone? Thank you!
Do you mean a delay from what is actually happening to what you see on RUclips?
Ballast Media yes. I noticed people reply to the channel creator and I see it in the chat before I hear channel creator speaking. Hope that makes sense
My guess (and this is totally a guess) is that your phone is having to buffer the video more then other devices, so the video is delayed enough to be noticeable. Not sure if there is any fix for that, other then to watch on a computer that has a hardline ethernet connection.
Ballast Media that makes sense! I think most are on laptops. Appreciate your help! Thank you

Quality of the image is dependent on 2 things. 1. the quality of the image you start with coming out of the camera, and 2. the bit rate. Check out my video on optimizing OBS for live video: ruclips.net/video/yTt5IxFWaEM/видео.html

How about if the stream is speeding-up?
I can't watch live football from differentiate links even if i have good internet connection . It buffers so much . If i follow the procedure of this video , will it be solved , pls reply.
This video is about "uploading" a live stream, it sounds like you are trying to watch a live stream. But that being said, a lot of similar things would apply. What is your download speed, and is it sustained? What are the spec's of your computer, can it handle the size of the video you are trying to play?
Is it the same for downloading like watching Netflix? Thanks
It is started to say "Skipped frames: *% skipped", when i changed my bit rate, how low can i go down, so the stream is still solid?
What are the spec's of your computer? What video interface are you using? Are you sending a 1080 stream?
what bitrate should i use? my upload speed is 41.49
5000 1080p
super helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much! You the man!
I cant use ethernet, and and I have a wifi adapter for my computer and it run 1900bps (i think thats the abreviation) what can i do to make my streams not buffer, and run smoother?
Lower your live stream's bit rate until it is stable.
You may be better off just going with a 720 stream and going with 2.5Mbps and see if your machine can encode that.
so my upload is 23.77/2 is 11.88 bit twitch max is 6000 so do i just use 6000?
Yes, just use 6 for your upload, and that's pretty high, that would be for a 1080 stream.

Hello, so my streams on RUclips I get 1 frame per minute or so
Edit: my old streams were fine new streams are poop cause of the lag
My ping is at 99. How do I lower that? My upload speed is 24 mbps. What would my OBS setting be?
Are you having issues when streaming? What bit rate are you streaming at? The latency (ping) in your network is usually related to your ISP and is a function of the type of connection you have, cable modem, DSL, etc. (Unless you are using wifi which also has higher latency.)
Ballast Media I lowered my OBS settings to 720 base res and 720 output res because as soon as I opened Facebook my camcorder feed froze instantly. Once I lowered the setting it allows my feed to continue
