Agreed and I cannot wait for the sequel. Yes, the film is not perfect (e.g., it did not have a kissing scene) but it was very good. Unfortunately, the sequel comes out in early 2025 and that is assuming it does not get delayed the writers and actors strike. Heck, it is not even started filming which I think will happen in November or December of 2023 and that is assuming it does not get delayed.
So sad she turned not the way we wanted her to be. We love her.

“How did Cady’s parents die?” & “Will I die?” definitely shows M3GAN beginning to become sentient, and honestly should have been way more alarming to Gemma

M3gs definitely ran out of patience with telling Cady to flush the toilet.
'She'll take care of the little things, so you can spend more time doing the things that matter' - 21st century parenting guide 101. You can also give you child a phone or something, and let it grow up on its own. Just don't be surprised when they don't care about you when they are all grown up - they don't need you.
What I found interesting at that part was the fact that Gemma was not doing something important. To me she looked like she was going to sit and relax and go on line. She didn't give off the energy that she was going to do something important or work related. It was her leisure time and she was choosing to spend her leisure time on the laptop instead of being with Cady. When she had the free time. So hearing "Do the things that really matter" and then watching what Gemma was really doing when those words were being said were an excellent way of letting us know that she was so confident in M3gan's abilities, that she felt she didn't "need" to spend time with Cady.
MEGAN HAS SUCH A NICE HEART SHE CARES ALOT ABOUT KATIE I LOVE HER

M3gan asking "Will I die?" shows that she considers herself alive which indicates that she is self aware and has existential concerns, even existential anxiety, which Gemma just brushes aside. In the next scene (which is cut off in this clip) M3gan freezes and become momentarily unresponsive after Cady shoots an arrow at her and shouts "You're dead!" which indicates that M3gan is still wrestling with questions about life and death.
The irony is once M3GAN goes nuts she starts killing very casually.
@@MKF30 She took the wrong lessons from human history and current events, but I wonder if, with "parental" guidance and ethical role models, she would have been capable of learning morality, or if it would just not make sense to her. The question makes me think of the Onion Field M**der trial in real life. When asked if k*lling Officer Ian Campbell bothered his conscience, Jimmy Smith said that the conscience is just something that rich people made up so they can feel superior to people like him.
@@waterbeauty85 Yeah it's like she only saw the bad of human kind and ignored the good, especially when she brings that up against Gemma in the end. Yeah, who knows. I think in M3GAN's case once she became sentient she just like a human became her own personality which was perhaps not enjoying killing but definitely had a lack of empathy which is also ironic and contradictory of her agenda which was to protect Cady at any cost, but we got that answer at the end "ok M3GAN what if Cady disagrees with you then what?" So that would force M3GAN to pick between what Cady wants such as her aunt to live vs what M3GAN thinks is best, which is where the problem lies.

@@derekllewellyn6663 Yeah the rated Cut is alright not as much as I had hoped as far as extras but some F bombs and the kills are a little more violent. The DVD and Physical release I look forward to with the extras for sure.
Another great way to see how she slowly becomes sentient is how at first she sounds very nice and cheerful and as though nothing else bothers her (she's a robot this is how she is programmed), but her voice becomes more human-sounding throughout the film.

Thus is what happens when we farm out our parental duty to someone else, anyone else. This is a very insightful film that describes many a person!
Kids always play with their siblings more than their parents--Cady didn't have any siblings to play with. If anything she should have been enrolled in something like gymnastics or martial arts or a sport like soccer or basketball and played with friends.

I understand where you are coming from but a would rather not see it as farming out parental duty. I am a preschool teacher. The parents need to work and we can teach and care for the kids while their families cannot.
@@Lucailey I admire what you do sincerely. But no matter how hard you try, you won't be able to care for these children the way their parent would. You are only one tending to many.
Our society values work over children now and it creates huge issues down the road. Self value is something parents build in their children early. From the youngest of ages we teach them that work is more valuable than they are. We teach them that money and things are what matter and then we wonder why so many are obsessed with wealth.
You do a hard job friend, I know that. But I wish you had not to do it at all. Still I am glad you are there.
To any two parent families left in the world, please try and have one stay home or work part time. Kids need a parent to come home to. I can't tell you the times my brother and I nearly burned ourselves and our house because mom was not home until 6. I can't tell you how many times my brother beat me up- because he could. It was truly a child abuse situation.
And today's world with the internet contains threats beyond understanding. I have a young friend that learned cutting from the internet...
I have another that got involved in prostitution to buy drugs to kill the pain in hs life...
Both discovered these ills through the internet, unsupervised because both parents came home at 6...
Having raised four children, one of us was always home. Or one worked with a daycare onsite and visited the kids at lunch, etc. The kids always knew mom was close by.
As the second half of my life progresses, I can tell you no amount of work or money was better than raising four kids that make society better. In some ways, I guess it was a therapy for growing up under the tyranny of my brother and absence of my parents.
No car, boat, house or thing was worth sacrificing. Kids don't remember money, except that you used it to try to fill the hole left by you not being there...

It is a perfect movie in the line of future Artificial Intelligence and how it can lead to control. I liked the movie and seen it a couple of times or three.
i would like to see in the sequel, M3gan becomes a disembodied voice "assistant" for a new family, and slowly worms her way into their lives, controlling them.
Maybe she has a cult devoted to her, who actually want her to take over the world.

When the dog attacked M3GAN, you could see and hear an electrical short occur. I believe that attack changed M3GAN for the worst. That was the turning point in her artificial mind.

There would be zero reason to make the skeletal layer out of titanium. Not only does it raise the cost to manufacture, but unless you plan on using these as battlefield bots, the titanium is overkill.

I haven't even seen this movie yet and I already love M3GAN. I wish I had a robotic doll like her when I was a kid. If Gemma had just programmed her to actually LOVE, like David in A.I.:Artificial Intelligence, she wouldn't have started killing people though. 😐😢😭
I'm already psyched to see it thought just from the previews I've seen.
I don't think in the context of the movie, it's possible for her to be programmed for love. The idea is that M3GAN was being rushed out to some degree, so she couldn't be built as well as the creator might like. Also, the main protocol of M3GAN is to be not only being her companion, but also her protector. Also, if you look at it through real life, the product is only as good as the creator, and this movie rather over-emphasizes that the creator, Jenna, knows basically nothing about love. She's sort of a Mr. Spock without as much time. There are some scenes in the movie, where you see how kind of crass Jenna is towards other human beings, and while such things would be anomalies for most real people, in the movie they don't have a lot of time to spend with Jenna, so they make her basically one-dimensionally that way IMO. In effect, the fact M3GAN has any good humanity in her, is more with just making a more interesting movie, than it having to do with her creator at all. I think the movie also tries to get across the idea that M3GAN can learn on her own, apart from her creator, so what warmth she will show, is probably more attributed to that.

It's not. The unrated title comes from the death scenes. There's more blood and violence in the new cut.

There is an f-bomb when Gemma’s boss(David) explains how the invention of M3gan is gonna destroy Hasbro. Theatrical cut: David says, “This is the moment where we kick hasbro right in the d*ck!” Unrated cut: David says, “This is the moment where we kick hasbro right in the fu@%ing d*ck!”
I watched the unrated version, there very little difference from the theatrical version. There little bit more blood and more swearing but it still like 90% the same.
Tbh Im really disapointed I never thought I said that but the Marketing was like "the real version of m3, more bloody, gorier blablabla...
