Athos is one of the best fighters in France he knew he stood a good chance of getting to Louis even if it meant being killed himself plus his son was all he had left a man with nothing else to lose has no fear of losing their life
Qualities of a dangerous man: having nothing left to lose. Going on a suicide attack knowing nothing holds him back and there's no one to come home to.
Little did Athos know, D'Artagnan's whole motivation to remain captain of the king's musketeer guards was to protect his own son. He did it out of the same fatherly devotion Athos felt for his dear Raoul.
@@sirloin8745 OK, very sorry for spoilering. But tbf you're watching the clip of a movie that has been out for 30 years, of a legendary novel that has been out for 180 years. Athos was the most sensible and idealistic of the four. I totally agree with him. This scene makes my blood boil. Fuck the damn king, he's dishonourable... he doesn't deserve to rule. And yes, D'Artagnan is a fucking traitor.
Is he though? How is he a traitor? He's doing the job of a royal guard captain and obeying his terrible king which he swore an oath to do probably. He may have betrayed his friends, but treason is a bit of a stretch. Technically Athos is closer to committing it, but its not like hes directly, intentionally aiding France's enemies.
