    If you rotate this string or stick on which you want to crystalize - back and forth, it will make crystals faster and bigger. Reason is that during crystal process, "depleted"water sitting near the crystal, and tend to dissolve it back. By rotating, you moving your crystals through new saturated area, while depleted water (under-saturated) tends to go away.

      Cooling it slower will give you larger crystals because it slowly builds off the existing crystals instead of branching off into many tiny crystals like in this video. I have a sugar solution that had been in the fridge for half a year and it has large blocky crystals.

    • @TrollFaceTheMan
      @TrollFaceTheMan  7 лет назад +13

      Yes you can but as a fore warning adding too much can stop the Sugar from crystallizing. My personal theory for this is a because the acid in the lemon juice causes the Sucrose the sugar is made up of to instead 'Invert' and break down into Fructose and Glucose which doesn't like to crystallize. Especially when mixed with one another.

      I wrote this above to another user, but I think it'll work nice here too.
      "I apologize about the delay between releases, my goal has been to make really High Quality videos from here on out. But these Crystal vids have a lot that goes into them, especially with the time lapse and all...
      It took me 2 days to get everything edited and another on top of that for recording so it is a major time consumer, and unfortunately I have to work and make money still which takes priority... "

      Also it is like -10 out so I haven't been able to do any outdoor projects XD
      And indoor ones have so much more that goes in them, as you have to set up lights, make sure Animals/People are not making noise, thoroughly clean up any mess you make... Try not to burn your house down... Ect.

      That is just what i thought. Real life stuff absorbing. I understand that when youtube isn't your job, you can't invest as much time in to it.
      Just keep the good work man. Quality over quantity :)

    What would happen if I put the syrup solution on a baking sheet instead? Low long should it take to cool to become solid so I can peel it (carefully ) into a large rectangular sheet of sugar?

    • @TrollFaceTheMan
      @TrollFaceTheMan  Год назад

      You would want to cook it till the hardball stage. That is pretty much how they make sugar glass or hard candies :)

    I want fairly decent sized crystals as I want to make a geode cake. How do I achieve this?

      A) forever in an airtight container
      B) leave it longer

    I was trying to help my son but it started to crystallize on the side of the quart jar before it was even an hour yet. what do you think went wrong?

    • @TrollFaceTheMan
      @TrollFaceTheMan  8 лет назад

      +5Smarties It's possible that Crystals might of formed on the side of the pot you were making the solution in. Those crystals then could of fallen into said solution and triggered it to start Crystallizing prematurely.
      That would be my guess.

    Hello This is nice I just need to know how many sugar with one cup water and at what temperature was the sugar Reddy and will Thier be a way to take the sugar crystals off the string ? I was thinking of making smaller sugar treats ?

  • @vikkinagygeller5007
    @vikkinagygeller5007 Год назад

    Why does your form in 4 hrs and the others take 7-10 days. I love it and will do it for the science fair for my girl. Thanks.

      Becuase of forcing the solution into super saturation by driving off more water then what is needed to keep the sugar dissolved. As it cools that additionally cuases the sugar to want to crystallize even more/faster.
      Look into "Hot Ice" it is sodium acetate. Very similar concept.

    Method did not work so well for me... I had a lot of trouble with the string, it kept floating to the surface, I finally had to wrap the string around a skewer but I think by that time, the sugar around it fell into my syrup... I'm over 12h-waiting period and barely have any build-up sugar :(
