    Whats the ideal size rock this can work up to? I have a dirt road but it has some rocks the size of a baseball.

    • @SkidSteerSolutions
      @SkidSteerSolutions  6 лет назад +1

      Alex, thanks for your question. The Box Grader is optimal with standard size gravel, so smaller rocks. We have seen it handle 5-6" rocks, but if there are a large number of them, it may not be ideal. Feel free to give us a call at 1-866-966-2538 if you'd like to discuss more in-depth. Thanks!

      It does the trick when your wife is getting mad at you for wrecking the grass every time a project comes up. The turf tires and all wheel steer is great. Horrible combination for mud though! We have a track loader for that :D

    Roads and driveways should be graded when material is wet, but not waterlogged. Otherwise material can be hard as a rock and difficult to remove washboards and high spots, and loose material will not stay in potholes and low spots because it will not compact. Roadway should also have a slight crown to direct water away from surface to prvent puddles and potholes, and ditches to carry water away to prevent soft spots and settling of roadway

    • @SkidSteerSolutions
      @SkidSteerSolutions  7 лет назад

      Hello! It's not the ideal solution for that as it's more of an economy tool for grading the road BUT, add a bradco tilt-tach with this and yes, you very well could.

    What is the point of the sideboards if you have them several inches above ground? I thought the whole purpose of these things was the side runners ran on the ground and kept it level and prevented digging in.

    • @SkidSteerSolutions
      @SkidSteerSolutions  6 лет назад

      The blades will dig in a couple of inches usually and are stopped from going further by the side boards, in essence this is what keeps the box grader as well as the operator's judgment. Thanks for commenting! Is there a part of the video that shows it not doing this?

    How is this for grading dirt and prepping grades?

    • @SkidSteerSolutions
      @SkidSteerSolutions  Год назад

      It is robust and will get what you need graded. If you are looking to till/grade, you will want to go with the Harley Rake of some sort.
      Some more information:
      There are many issues to overcome when using a skid steer for grading. The toughest issue is the constant rocking from the machine when you are in a heavy push. One wheel breaks free for an instant and allows the attachment to rock. The attachment digs in and the machine follows the contour and you just end up with a big mess. The Eterra box scraper design overcomes this issue by adding another contact base to the ground. The side rails are always in contact with the ground and weight is applied by the down pressure of the boom. This causes the blades to run constant regardless of what the skid steer is doing. When you are leveling a smooth base in front, the skid steer has a level surface to run on which in turn adds to the quality of the cut. Another issue when trying to grade a road is potholes. It is hard to dig them up without the machine tipping into the hole which causes your blade to dig another pothole just a few feet away. The aggressive nature of the blades makes sure you dig up the entire top surface with the pothole. The surface is then redistributed out the back of the box so you end up with a whole new surface and not just filled in pot holes.
      Let us know if you have any other questions!

    A good skid steer operator can do the same thing with the bucket, this is just for the wanna be operators.
