My son and I were out this past weekend on the Poseidon and he was sporting his Outdoor Chef Life long sleeve shirt. LoL. Would have been fun fishing with you all!
Adam, thanks for taking the time and expense to fish our Socal waters! I love your content because you produce fishing videos, not catching videos. I always learn something when I watch. 😊😊 (I bought a drag scale so I can set my drag at 33% of my lowest test line.)
Nice video. I fished a 1.5 day trip on the Aztec last week and got two Bluefin, with the biggest at about 130 pounds. The potential quality of fish you can get within one day range in the last few years is unprecedented. Good to see that you guys connected.
Adam, all your fans thank you for taking us along with you on these trips. We know you only put yourself through such torture for the love of your fans and not because you are just an absolutely Die Hard Fisherman. 😜
Next you must do a 3 day long range trip. Gorgeous Bluefin. I worked as a deckhand out of Newport Beach, CA. To see the same fish, but more and bigger on a 3 day trip into Mexican waters was great. Same effect if you go to the outer channel islands. Have you caught a Yellowtail yet? ...they fight hard as well. Go again!
Great crew to go with Adam. I'll be down there the end of August and hopefully you saved my group some fish! Also one your best vidoes you've done! I also saw all your bites which no one ever catches on video
Good job guys on San Diego tuna trip!!! You may wanna arrive a day before and get a hotel room by the landing and do some sleep time. I go on a 2 day trip with Legend next week!
I love you did this type of trip. This is absolutely my favorite way to fish. I grew up doing it with my dad and continued it all they way until we moved to Redding. I miss it so much! I loved this video, I hope you do another trip again so i can watch lol. Maybe do a 8 day on one of the long range sportfishers like the Independence, Intrepid, Excel, Red Rooster 3 and the rest of the amazing boats down there. Lol, living through you now. I can't afford to make a trip down anymore lol.
Pacifica sportfishing actually offers more limited load tuna trips where they limit the number of anglers to just 22 vs 30+ Penn, Izorline and Phenix rods also sponsor trips with this operation . Makes a big difference with quality sponsor and boat with limited anglers
Was that reel the Gomexus???Word of advice for anyone traveling in Cali… Never travel south on Friday’s… Never travel north on Sunday’s… Every Mexican from O.C. Congrats! from NorCal as well. been on a few of these trips the past years. went earlier this season on a 2-day, had lots of action/bites/hookups, but none onto the boat for me. These trips can be thrilling (and of course, exhausting) even without bringing home a fish. Extra thrilling when you do get one or more. One item I probably analyze / fuss over way too much are the connections. What knots did you use? Braid to mono/floro, leader to hook or jig, etc.?
Drag was tight . When the fish is running , keep the rod pointing at the fish and slowly raise it until it stops . That’s my way of fishing these fish . Thank you for sharing, it was fun to watch
Im glad you listened to me with the bait belly hooking them . Good job dude , wish i could have given you a few more pointers but you boys were excited to fish. Thats awesome you had a great trip 🤘.
great video, shows all the important parts of being on the water. love the ripping drag! I just got off a overnight and I landed 5 of the 7 fish I hooked . I had 2 mono to leader connection knot failures. * for those concerned about over limits my extra fish went to my buddies who were less fortunate than I was.
Glad you guys did well on your trip. It looks like your drag was way too tight on the fly line. Even if you know what you’re doing it always a good idea to have the deck hand check your drag. They often go lighter than usual to tire them out then can crank up a bit at the end.
@@HoofHearted_Eh I only paid $200 and got limits so definitely was worth it for me haha. I have more fish than I know what to do with. My neighbors are quite happy right now :)
@@siquijorian73 Full day boat is $235, Overnight is $335, 1.5 day boat is $445 at Seaforth Landing. Plus you have to add extra for Fuel charge, food, and Deckhand Tips.
Stay off the 5 through Los Angeles. Take the 210 south to the 57 south. When going back north, take 57 north to the 210 north. I go to my dad's in calaveras county a lot
Probably the reason Bro is when you let him run with that bait that fish is throating that bait. Tuna inhales the bait try wait a couple sec then set lock down and let him tighten up on to make that circle hook work better for you and you might get less cut off on that line just a thought. Tight lines bro!
We had a 200 pound bluefin wash up on the shore up here in the Puget Sound last month. It had everyone stumped apparently! There is no record of them ever being in here. If we could catch those in the sound I’d be stoked! 😂
Tough deal getting broke off i like to sinker rig under those fly liners with a 60 to 80 lb. Leader and a 4 to 6 oz. sinker and definitely a mutu hook and don't let the run to long and slowly snug that drag down somtimes it works
yes, the patch works best but put it on 12 hours before. Get it in your system and working before the trip begins. Patches are good for 3 days so on a 2 1/2 day or less, 12 hours ahead is perfect.
What boat were you on? My son and I were out there last weekend on the Poseidon. The boat caught only one fish on the jigs. We caught limits on the fly line with 30# leader line. Curious what you were using. All our fish were gut hooked. Frankly, surprised we did not lose the ones we caught.
Ahaha, yes the 5 is grueling. I take the 101 up to Seattle then take the 5 back home. It would be the perfect road for a self driving car where you could just sleep the whole time.
I noticed you where setting the hook with the circle hooks and that will keep from getting a good hook in the corner of the mouth you really have to disiplin yourself to just reel on the fish untill it start running
Was this a limited load or open party trip? Looked pretty crowded so I’m guessing open party? If you can afford it, I’d always go with a limited load trip. It’s usually 1/2-2/3 # of anglers and so worth it IMO. You don’t have the problems associated with a full boat.
The I5 Drive is essential to your success, think about embracing the Buffalo before Santa Nella, the Tule Elk around Highway 152, and the Kangaroo Rats after that. Better to embrace the road that gets you to Tuna….😅
If your line is frayed where it breaks off then it’s cuz you got chewed off from letting them eat it too long. Honestly, I think it’s cuz your drag is too tight considering that you’re getting broken off that early off the first run. Make sure you’re setting it 25-30% or your line rating (ex. 7-9lbs of drag if you’re fishing 30lb line). Also tie good knots, can’t go wrong with the SD jam and re-tie after each fish.
I can't wait to do it again!
Whens your pov dropping? I love both of you guys channels!

Awesome tuna fish 💯
To see Taku jigging for tuna is epic! LOL!
😂
Alan Tani has muscles with his drag set so tight. 😂
Some serious fishing and some serious fishing gear.
Tuna is a whole different and very expensive game 😂. Crazy adrenaline pumping trip when bite gets hot.
Successful trip!
Can you tell us what kind of jigs, lures you used?
Set that hook. Great to see you and Haku gettin" it!
I like it when 2 or more of the people I follow fish together.
My favorite part of fishing on charter is fly line. Jigging tood a toll on me. Time to get some cow in NorCal.
What is your rod and reel combo on your fly line rig?
Nice trip. Looks like your drag was too tight.

4:15 Best to have the rod tips facing the rear in case the cart bounces off the guardrail or another cart. Your rods won't get damaged that way.
Thanks for the tip!
Love the ending. This is such a real feeling😂😂😂
Nice fish! Love hearing the reel scream!
Just got back from my first Bluefin trip and got limits too. It was one of the most exciting and hectic experiences I’ve ever had.

Get scopolamine patch, that is what 70% of the people are on.
