I own a BYD Atto 3 for more than a year now.
Absolutely great & fantastic.
I would love to buy a BYD SUV/car. if only the price remains similar to the price in China. In Canada I think they would put extra tariffs on the price and make it unappealing. Chinese NEV vehicles offers many more luxury features for a fraction of western brands.
The fire, safety risks, parts availability and Chinese politics put me off

The West will have trouble to catch up.
The west is busy with woke and immigration instead innovation and working. Lefties still rule with globalists.
Its nature way to shift to electric car from the traditional fuel combustion engine. Closer to the comfort zone as EV have thousands and thousands of less moving parts. For eg. no more bulky combustion engine that needs engine oil replacement or a water radiator and fan to constantly cool it. No matter how traditional cars manufacturers claimed to have an improvement on the combustion engine, the shift is evitable. The lower cost of maintenance and the break in the monopoly by manufacturers of profiting from high car parts cost just make EV an obvious option for consumer to have.
Interesting how Chinese brands lead in design, Europe is at least one generation behind, Japan two. I use BYD and Aion everyday, they're the most common in ride hailing around here and they're quite good considering they're entry level cars in that field. It's not rare to see one with 200k on the clock, apparently they're durable.

BYD U9 is a head-turner.
4 years ago BYD couldn't barely sold 400,000 cars, most of which are ICE powered copies of previous gen Toyota Corollas and like. Fast forward to 2024, and BYD might sell 4 million cars in 2024, all of which are on state of the art PHEV and BEV platforms, and including ultraluxury and hypercars such as the U8 and U9, packing quad motors and well over 1000 hp. Most of the people in the west don't even know what a BYD is, let alone what a big threat they are to legacy auto all over the world. The progress they've made in less than 5 years is breathtaking.

Great cars with built in features. Self ignition, reusable air bags as they don’t deploy when required. Body panels that self remove. Yes they are great for a few hours they are just fantastic, then buyers remorse sets in as it falls apart and no spares are available. Good choice Thailand, thought you had more common sense than falling for the shiny new toy.

The future can only be with smaller cars and less cars..alternatives like bicycles and EV motorcycle would be better for reducing planetes polution. Individual cars should be prohibited in the cities main area.

with Rare Earth prices at all time lows you would think China is reducing production. The opposite is true. China is buying up more mines, increasing productions, buying up contracts, making deals with other countries.

when prices are cheap you make acquisitions and further increase your dominance of the global market. Thus increasing the gap between any developing rare earth western company and Chinese producers.

Tesla is also BYD's biggest no. 1 customer. If BYD ships EV supply chain products like EV vehicle chassis to Tesla and others. Even without one BYD car sold in the USA it is finished for EVs. The thinking is that all global auto manufacturers will use BYD components. This is already happening for example, Ford.

Norway is about 12 years ahead with BEV to about rest of the world. The current situation is that diesel powered cars are most attractive and so for gasoline powered. BEV is out and prices have fallen dramatically. Second hand prices is terrible and people have lost great deal of money on their purchase just after 1 year. You are warned. I have been thru 5 BEV bought my first 14 years ago. I am no on two diesel powered.

I live in Thailand and if you had 2 of the evs charging in my street it would melt the power lines back to the sub station.thailands electricity info structure is 60 yrs behind the western world.ive seen so many byd on the roads here,let’s see how they last with the heat and then the rainy season where we have constant flooding.myself I drive a Toyota hilux revo pick up and get. 1,000kms to a tankful at 2,500baht,about £60 or 80 dollars so I won’t be sold on a ev but might be when I scrap my current car in 30 yrs from now.
Had my ev for 1 year now you charge at home silly. You pay a lot of money to just travel 1000 kms 3 times more expensive then my ev. Plus all that servicing you have to pay for, and no doubt you don't complain about the pollution in Thailand!
lol, you realise these cars are running in plenty of hotter places then Thailand? Is Australia hot enough for you? You scared of the rain? Hainan is in Typhoon Alley, gets tons of rain. China is already running 50% electric cars, cities are cleaner, air quality has improved. The less of your old Hilux truck polluting the air the better.
