They did the same shit with Western ERA. Russian ERA is essentially a black hole for our rounds, while Western ERA is realistically implemented and doesn't stop kinetic penetrators. Russian bias is wild.

The funniest thing is that once the T-90M angles, Sabot just turns into an APHE and does nothing, harmlessly bounces off or shatters while the T-90 can rip through the front of the Challenger 3s misrepresented armor, the SEPV2s non DU armor and the 2A7Vs B-tech armor, it’s getting actually ridiculous how handheld Russia is from 8.3 and onwards

@@user-it3xy2cw1t it’s a known fact that the 2A7V has D-tech armor, but currently it has armor equal to b-tech, which was used on early Leopard 2 models, later models went to C-tech. While I get the point with the Chally, especially cause it’s the Challenger 3 prototype so we basically know nothing aside from German gun. With the Abrams it’s know that the US has DU armor on the thing, which is confirmed by multiple public sources

@@user-it3xy2cw1t I’m honestly fine with traditional weakspots, just tan it really doesn’t make sense that while Russians have to get in in weakspots, you can hit the SEPV2 basically anywhere frontally, the 2A7V is basically an IFV to a sabot and the Chally 3 is like all challengers, really easy to pen

Spall liners exist for a long time. The T80 have hidden spall liners. Many players figured that out already. Ru bias since closed beta.

The metal that holds the shells in the carousel of russian autoloaders has acted as a kind of spall liner already, thats why you sometimes have T72's and T80's eat side shots and unless the round hits the ammo directly it will drive away like nothing happened.

if spall liners come into the game like it is now, in a week or so, when the majority of players got their t90m, russian top tier winrate will go above 75%

If this comes as it is now, russian top tier winrate will increase to 99%. Everyone will play them and they are basically unkillable
Only problem gaijin sees with this is that the winrates aren't 100%
for what I know if i remember correctly Gaijin said that the spall liner will have some kind of HP bar to it and will be destroyed and not function after a certain amount of damage

@@merlijnmeijer1772 that's to me at least not really a problem, we already have things like this, as an example every vehicle you are up against can be spaded or stock, you just treat all vehicles like they all have the spall liner intact, as example, my comunity got a bug report up about the spall lining of the Ariete with official journals speaking of the lining and quite some photografs about it but only on the turret check and not other compartments, knowing Gaijin if they take into count only the photos if they want to give the Ariete the spall liner they will do it only on the fron of the turret. This is probably how in case they do, will model the spall liners on other vehicles, making only some parts of it actually survivable but the rest act just like always. Also if you'd like to help the Italian comunity put up 15+ documents from primario sources like unclassified Italian government speaches on the Ariete and secondary sources also, there are quite some phots of them, some of them are visible only to Gaijin, the bug report was done around 3 days ago, if you want a "I had the same problem" button is free to use, thanks evn if you decide not to look at it
These will not change game play. Russian tanks already dont produce spalling when you shoot them, so a spall liner is usless.
Eventually it will only be Russian tanks fighting other Russian tanks. At this point I've given up on getting any actual extra armor on my abrams, or the abrams getting armor but it doesn't matter because it's only 5mm of protection

Todays game session with TopTier Germany (all of them against Russia): 8 Consecutive losses, 1 Win at the end. I ended in most of them under the top-five. Can't imagine the fun if they would get the spall-liners if they are gonna add them as they are now...
I’m a US main, and arguably there’s no one that feels the Russian bias more than us.
But this kind of shit has been in the game since the beginning.
You can shoot someone’s barrel out and incapacitate them. BUT sometimes it just doesn’t work. Sometimes you fart on a tank and its barrel explodes.
RNG for damage mechanics had always been baked in. As much as maybe it’s not supposed to be.
So I don’t see this as being any different.
The only issue, is if they only give it to Russia.
Meanwhile you can shoot into my abrams and it will spall 3 fucking times. 3!!! I’ve seen it. It broke up 3 layers and spalled each time killing everyone.
If anyone needs spall lining its tanks like the abrams. And ESPECIALLY tanks like the type 10.
But if all you do is give it to Russia, whose ERA is such bullshit that the ERA in front of the treads will eat an entire top tier round, then it’s bias and completely unfair.
Not to mention that by now, countries like the US should have rounds designed to go through the ERA in the first place. But they won’t do that it would make Russia too weak.

If they really want to push spall liners and other features like APS they should lock it in a rank. But of course it's Gaijin, they haven't even fixed existing problems in the live server so why not add more fuel to the dumpster fire.

From what I've seen there is no spot you're supposed to shoot the T-90, it is literally just a roll of the dice whether you'll kill a crew member or not, and only if you roll a perfect 20 will you one shot the thing, the dev server isn't 1:1 representative of the final result of course but it is indicative of a vehicles potential BS in the live server, and since this belongs to a certain nation the chances of that BS will more-than-likely not be corrected based on previous and existing vehicles in said tech tree.

I find it rarely mentioned but the main problem with t80/t90 is and will be; the entire enemy team consisting of t90ms holding W until they win. witch is s big problem because gaijin buffs russian tanks based on whatever they deem to be "real" and nerf US and britain and other nato countries based on some obscure article published by very biased russian sourcs
Just play 10.3 and under, and you dont have to see this thing problem solved for me, at least for now, until this spall liner stuff goes wherever it is going.
Yeah, the top tier usually takes seconds to kill or get killed. If you shoot someone and it does not die immediately, the chance is it will kill you if you do not disable the breech/gun barrel. Spall lining means you need to use more ammo and more time to kill it from the side than it used to be, making you more vulnerable to other enemies while trying to kill a single tank. In-game, the more complex the tank is, the better. Combining ERA, Composite, Spall liner, and CROWs will make the tank excellent.
Although I know, they said they will add spall liner to other countries, their choice of only implementing it to one tank for one specific country is just a terrible move, especially since they know the community hates Russian bias. If they had two examples, one in T90M and one in Leopard 2A7V or Swedish Leopard, the backlash would not be that bad.
I do think spall liners should be in game rank 8 and above. I like the TTK being longer les one shots. But yeah everyone should get them who has them it'll slow down top tier tanks and make people have to think about position and aim more.
Yeah (assuming they all get spall liners) it can be a good change prioritizing shooting out barrels and breaches rather than just center mass 1 tap everything
@dearadolfh8744 lol. You already do. Most tanks won't one shot unless got in a few specific areas except Russian tanks you can mostly just pass a round through low center. Every BR has it's own play style. Just play the Bars where you can one shot everything easier.
A spall liner does not reduce spall.
It reduces external fragments from wreaking havoc on crew,
But in case of penetration by a armor piercing projectile. It will not reduce spall. It reduces the cone of spread of the spalling.
11:10 - I think having most vehicles have spall lines, will force people into playing more strategically, instead of just pressing W and shooting at everything COD style. Which is not a bad thing at all. Yes, there are no real tank vs tank scenarios in real life anymore, like there are in the game, but tanks were never meant to just roll through a city and kill stuff coming out of every corner.
They mostly camp in a spot, wait for the enemy or go along with infantry.
In real life, there are so many factors that come into play.
Weather conditions, wind, temperature, eye sight condition etc.
Even real gunners never hit weak spots 100% of the time and I think, that would make up for the human factor.
They just simply need to implement stuff smartly, instead of the braindead way they have been doing things for the past decade.

Im torn. It disgusts me that the Abrams has so many huge weak spots and badly modeled armor. But I dont want to alienate players that main Russian tanks because I like to team with them! I will almost always die before them, but they usually take a few hits meant for me that would annihilate me😂. Seriously, being an American tanker from start to finish, hide, shoot only if the enemy tank is otherwise engaged. And dont ever trust your armor

For ground it would really only be past 10.0 since early/semi-mid cold war M60s were pretty awful against fighting their counterparts. For Air I'd argue 10.3 since early Phantoms and other supersonics below that BR are weak mainly for poor missiles and no onboard guns (in the F-4's case) but after that it's an absolute curbstomp.

Look I’m a Russian main and I can safely say that this is a very bad idea
You're right somewhere but I think it's about the amount of fuel tank explosions and one shot kills that others don't have because of blowup pannels what ever. I have Leopard 2A6, M1A1 AIM and T-80BVM all with Ace Crew, in the NATO tanks I never had any problems with fuel tank explosions or ammo explosions with the Russians, not to mention the number of one shot kills. In addition, with all tanks I have had strange ricochets with APDS on the Abrams on the lower hull on the Leo and on the gun that was not destroyed or on the T-72 on the side armor. But what I only have with the NATO tanks is that I sometimes survive with only 1 crew member and remain able to fight. As you said, some tanks are better equipped than the top tier MBTs from the Russians. Probably it was an attempt to compensate for that without nerfing other tanks.
Well they already had them anyway now its just modeled and they can argue to make them even better lmao
I am currently reseaching the leo 2 A5 and i was excided for top tier battles, but with the new T90M my excitment has gone very low

The US can't have features its vehicles have in real life "for balance," and to get any reasonable upgrade for US tanks you have to throw volumes of primary and secondary material at the moderators, and even then they refuse to pass things even when the innacuracies are acknowledged. But if you want to give the Russians a dominant feature you can link some screenshot from a single secondary source and it gets added.
Literally their response was "we acknowledge that the US has multiple 'prototype' M1A2s with DU hull armor, but since you can't prove other than by implication that it was in production on this variant, we wont make any changes." Does no one remember the F-16AJ? What is this gaslighting?

The devs are clearly biased to Russia, especially in top tier. And it's not just OP vehicles, it's also the very selective implementation of certain mechanics and some countries receiving priority for new vehicles to others.
And let's also mention the shitshow that going modern has gone; Politics poisons the game development, leaking of classified materials, etc.
This game should die. Be replaced by a new realistic arcade WWII tank game / new realistic arcade WWII flight sim, etc.

They've said they're going to add spall liners to other tanks such as NATO ones, but the issue is about verifying that. They won't take NATO documents (especially since a lot of modern ones are still controlled and not subject for release) and they won't take Russian estimates because they're potentially inaccurate.

Seriously though, the biggest issue is that instead of waiting until they can comfirm spall liners for everyone, they are adding it to one tank in a nation that doesn't need such a good tank. Like they could just wait until the can confirm NATO tanks spall liners, and if they can't, just estimate, or don't add it all. It's not that complicated.

Give them all spall liners, if they have them in real life, they should have them in game. If that makes everything you thought you knew about top tier ground useless and outdated, tough, adapt. Spall liners only stop Small fragments which are not even simulated in war thunder judging by the cone angle for divergences. These fragments are tiny smaller than 3mm.
@@mitri5389 Yes, like I said, give it time until it works. When the sabots were modelled during the last dev server, this shitty community pissed its pants, was fixed by the time the patch went live. No reason to expect how the spall liner on the t90m is how it's going to work when it is just another part of the game later down the line.

im now at a apont where im deliberately avoiding tanks that dont have APHE, just because of how unreliable everything is, from HEAT and ATGMs getting stuck on bs when you use them and not getting stuck on fences etc when they are used aganist you, APDS and HESH doing nothing, AP being weird and requiring multiple shots to kill to APFSDS that get stopped by 5mm ERA protection and nonpenning stuff it should 100% pen AND kill aka russian bias
so for me im just grinding what im missing in the mid-high BR levels with stuff like obj 906, char 25t, etc getting nukes every other game (getting better results than camping hulldown AGS thx to the constant map "balancing")

There needs to be a balance between the game being realistic and being arcadie. Right now almost everything is one shot kill, I've gotten counteless kills where I shoot the engine compartment and everyone in the tank dies. Sure it's nice to get the kill but it isn't realistic at all.
Everyone who cry about "Russian bias" should look for something better to do in their sad life cuz unlike those kids no one who play Russian tanks is crying because of the armor of the Loepards and the STRV which are objectively better vehicles, please - get some help.
They do, actually. The fun thing is, while the western audience cries about "Russian bias" people on the Russian forum often say the Snail made NATO tanks and planes stronger than they are in real life in order to appeal more to the western audience.

I've played the game for more than two years already, and this is the most Russian-biased update I can remember. Gajin took "Russian bias" as a joke, but now it's getting more and more real. T-90M exclusive Spall liners and the Su-27 that can do stupid maneuvers (with the 2nd best IR missiles and best SARH missiles in the game), while the F-15A can't pull more than 11G without losing its wings. I know it's still in development, but people don't speak up for no reason (also, it's apparent with the Spall liners that they didn't even think of giving them to NATO tanks in this update unless the community spoke up). It's like they want NATO vehicles to underperform to appeal to the Russian side of the community.
Well, USA owns naval and Air, Germany and Sweden own ground, and Russia somewhat owns Helicopters.. but to add something to make it somewhat fair to Russia, and everyone throws their arms up and cries.
The spall liner is not exclusive to Russia. This community is so allergic to reading.

A lot of controversies around the T90M are very false. Survive ability of T90M is only in question because Russia losed them to tank mines, drones, artillery and ATGMS. Most people dont realize that every tank is vulnerable to these threats no matter how great and advanced it is. The only real issue with the tank is no visible APS system even tho Russia has one, ive seen a lot of false news about arena m being mounted on it but no proof yet. But ive seen reports back in 2021 that states that it will be mounted on the T90M in 2025, similar time Abrams is ment to get their first 3rd gen thermals. For a person with some tank knowledge seeing people say a certain modern tank is bad due to their bias are mainly people with no knowledge of tanks (this applies to war thunder players too). I dont have much to say about spall liners being added to war thunder. IMO i think they should of added it ages ago and not with rank VIII. Thank you TEC for posting daily and keep up the hard work!

Completely true, people tend to forget that the majority of tank losses that Russia has suffered as of late are from typical things that tanks have always suffered from since they were invented.
People also forget that when NATO tanks see combat, they literally suffer the same exact fate. for example, Saudi Arabian M1A1’s getting destroyed by RPG’s, the Ukrainian challenger 2 getting its turret popped by an old school Kornet ATGM, the leopard minefield graveyards, etc.
People are way too caught up in this fantasy thinking that certain modern tanks are invincible

2. German fuel tanks on the outside of the tank eat whole rounds like it’s nothing (60 mm)

90% of top tier Air battles are mixed so if you have USA on both sides ofc USA will get a very high winrate. Russia has 70% winrate in ground battles which are not mixed most of the time. Also how does aim help if russian ERA, fuel tanks or drivers just tank shots? 50% of the time you shoot a T80BVM the ammo gets black but wont explode and just vanishes. Sure sometimes Nato tanks survive the impossible too but how often do you shoot the side of a BVM and your APFDS doesnt even pen the ERA (90 degree not some insane angle)? The KA50 was the main reason they had to remove a whole gamemode.
Sooooo it's okay to tip the scales because 1 side has a high win rate in one game mode. Not to mention its mixed teams.
Also, can you explain how point blank shots don't do dick to RU tanks. The only thing thay happens to a RU tank half the time is its breach getting knocked.
