      That and he suffered the same fate of countless before him, his apprentice got tired of his shit.
      I don't see anyone double-crossing Darth Imperius. Tis truly better to be loved than to be feared.
      If you are feared, then abandoning or betraying you in a time of weakness is the first thing your followers will do. If you are loved, they will endure Hell and high water to protect you from your enemies.

      Anthony Clay Actually, he had contingency plans in case of his death. He transferred his consciousness into clone bodies. Sidious just wanted power and to rule the galaxy. He merely saw followers as a mean to achieve his goal.

      I'm aware. Again, it just seemed like Kallig got more done with less bloodshed.
      For comparison, Palpatine kicked off a long and life wasting conflict to cement his position as Emperor. Kallig decisively ended a major battle and scored a seat on the Dark Council, and he's still got plenty of life ahead of him!

    • @MsSomeone98
      @MsSomeone98 10 лет назад +11

      Anthony Clay It's Kallig. Also, on top off all that, you know what makes him even worse? the Emperor was a racist. Or specist. The Emperor was in his 80s when he took over. What did he do when it was finished? Did he just sit on his throne saying "I've got unlimited power! Both politically and physically!.... K... now what?". Kallig was young, scored a hot togruta, mastered a rare technique, became on of the 12 Sith rulers of the Empire(the Emperor basically disappeared and told them to run everything).

    From what I've seen, Ashara seems more like she turned slowly to a Gray Jedi. I thought she would have turned into Jaesa with less crazy but instead she went Gray Jedi. I like that, she seems very committed to stay on a side she seems to want to change from within, to help however she can.

      I am curious. If you play straight dark side all the way, can you still romance her? and if you can, does her attitude differ any? does she lean more dark to reflect you or are her decisions and dialog the same no matter what?

    • @ZunaZurugi
      @ZunaZurugi 3 года назад +17

      @@Boringspy Because the Grey Jedi are a power fantasy which is just broken for Star Wars. If someone can do Dark Side things from time to time and not get corrupted by the force then it would make the whole concept of the jedi irrelevant. And Troughout Star wars games and movies it was shown that true grey jedi cant really exist with few minor exeptions.
      Those exeptions are Either A: Apathatic Jedi that cant do anything they are neutral and cowards they cant do anything, that would be Yoda between Ep3 and 5, Bendu that is basicly a rock, Jolee Bindo who also basicly couldnt do anything and just waited for the death til he decided to join the party of Revan which turned him either to the light or darkness.
      B: "Technical Grey Jedi" but actaully Light Jedi, that would be those that are not in the Jedi Order but still live by the Jedi way of staying in balance of the force, Ashara is one of them then of course Ashoka as well and some other.
      C: Dark Side Jedi that manage to withstand the Dark Side Corruption for a while, by using the Dark Side rarely and usaly in self defense (technicly), Count Dooku is noticble one. Which is quite rare because on some the force corrupts much faster Anakin for example (okay might be bad writing) got corrupted in like 10 minutes til he forgot why he even wanted that power.... his own spirit was basicly locked away.
      Corruption of the Force or Dark Side is basicly Heroin... its basicly impossible to stay clean and using it the correkt way :D
      SWTOR makes stuff abit simple so it works better for an Story driven MMO with Choices. The Amount of killing you do as either Sith or Jedi would affect much more then just saying nice things in some speech que xD not to mention that some of the Dark side Light side choices are very random, like preserving Sith History and knowledge gives you Light Side points in some quest thats very wrong :D

    I love this romance above the others because of how unique it's setup is. Star crossed lovers, but without the angst. They talk about their viewpoints and philosophies, they respect each other as Master and Apprentice, and most of all, they show that in the (perhaps surprisingly) bleak universe of Star Wars; there is a hope for true peace between Jedi and Sith.

    • @andrewneilan4234

      Anthony Clay Yeah, this is probably one of the best written star wars romances ever. "Star crossed lovers, but without the angst." That's a good way to look at it. There's something sweet about two people loving each other and continuing to do so, even when some high-minded authority figures won't let them marry.

      I like the middle approach and think it's very well written (outside of you butchering her masters in front of her and she's like "meh may as well help you anyway") though i'm curious if u can be dark side and still romance her? My character was quite the pragmatist but did fall well within the dark side (did not tolerate treachery, had a bit of an honor code and kept his side of the bargain but generally could be harsh at times).

    Okay, I just got to say, I love this whole video on how a sith inquisitor can be such a sweet guy to a jedi girl who loves him back. But what really sticks out in my mind is 24:19-24:37. Ashara makes it clear she really cares about her identity as a jedi, enough that she wants the Jedi counsels permission to marry. The Sith Inquisitor in this video could, of course, just say "you don't need their permission, let's get married without it", But what does he do instead? He respects her wishes like any sweet guy would and says "So let's go get their permission." Cue a big chunk of affection earned from Ashara, just for caring about what she wants to do instead of brushing it off. Sure Ashara looks pretty disappointed and sad that the jedi council won't say yes anytime soon, but to me that grand 327 affection leap just screams "I have the best, most patient, tolerant, and kindhearted boyfriend in the galaxy!" I wrap my mind around that, and just...WOW! Imagine a Sith Lord who has the courage to and is willing to go to the heart of the Jedi Order, practically the Lion's Den for a sith, all because he loves one person, one jedi, enough to risk his safety just to ASK for permission to marry her. Not demand it, but simply ask. Just...Oh, what the heck, the Light Side Sith Inquisitor is one of the sweetest Sith Lords in all the Star Wars Universe! JUST ADMIT IT! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

      Andrew Neilan I've never gotten very far with a Sith Inquisitor, but something I would like trying is going nothing but Dark Side until Ashara comes into the picture, then go Light Side with her love being redemption. Cliché, but I like it.

    • @AlphaYTang
      @AlphaYTang 9 лет назад +6

      Andrew Neilan Agreed. They should've done something with this romance story arc similar to what they did with the SW/Jaesa romance - where only the LS Inquisitor could romance Ashara.

    • @andrewneilan4234
      @andrewneilan4234 9 лет назад +22

      Well, I will say the lightside romance where the inquisitor treats Ashara's Jedi beliefs with respect is a more stable romance that makes more sense. In the darkside version, as genuine as the inquisitor's love for Ashara still is (maybe), it's still pretty, well, dark; and definitely abusive. If he's not outright tempting her towards the darkside, he's simply torturing her both emotionally, and with force lightning. At least in the lightside version, killing Ashara's Jedi masters was reluctantly done in self-defense. But in the darkside version, he killed Ashara's parental figures just to manipulate her into following him. I would think the darkside version is a pretty good example of what can realistically happen when a bad guy has a soft spot for a girl, but still remains an evil person. I read in the news about all those young women in an abusive relationship with their boyfriend, thinking they can "save him." That's just crap. Harley makes the same stupid mistake with the Joker. Being in an abusive relationship places a girl in some very real physical, emotional, and spiritual danger. So while I don't like the darkside version of the romance, I'd say it's still good that the ugly reality of it can be seen. It is good to know the difference between wholesome and dangerous relationships.

      Thee ARE good Sith. The problem is that Sith don't turn away from the Dark Side, which can easily lead to evil deeds and corruption, that is makes the Sith dangerous. The Dark Side is very tempting, and if yo don't turn away from it at all costs like the Jedi do, then you run the risk of falling prey to it. Gray Jedi are similar, as they don't follow the Jedi's teachings and rather follow their own conscience, but they still turn away from the Dark Side.

    I appreciate the attention the writers paid to her slow slide from grace. Dialog was given to support her disillusionment with the Jedi order and how she initially rejected all things sith but in the end actually admitted that peace was indeed a lie.
    I wish Jaesa Willsam had been given the same treatment. Her fall by contrast was poorly done. If you play darkside, she abandoned everything she stands for without a second though.

    To me, my romance with Ashara as a DS Inquisitor meant a lot to me. IRL, I was once a discriminatory person who didn't show much compassion toward others who were different (I wasn't transphobic, racist, homophobic or anything like that, I just didn't understand them for who they were), and because didn't want to express those feelings IRL, I did it in SWTOR because Jonas'ara (My character) was a safe way of getting those emotions out on my enemies (NPC's not other players) because he was me in the Star Wars universe. But then when I knew his goals of how he didn't like intolerance of other races when explaining his goals to Ashara, and how he loved her for who she was even though she was an alien. That changed me (along with other outside factors) into being a more tolerable and kind person IRL, and when I got Jonas'ara to KOTFE, I switched to making mostly LS choices to reflect that change (although made a few small DS ones to prove I was still impure). And when I read Ashara's message in chapter 4 about how much she missed me and loved me, I got misty-eyed because Jonas' relationship with Ashara taught me that love has no boundaries, that being different isn't bad, and that the world isn't always what it seems. I know that may sound too immersive or stupid to some, but it shows how games can change people IRL

    Ashara recently returned in update 5.8. When I saw the news, I was so shocked to finally see her return after so long. While I could've gotten her back in KOTFE by using the companion searcher, I wanted to wait for a true legitimate return, and that finally happened. I was so excited that I literally reinstalled SWTOR and bought another membership (as I stopped playing the game several months back) just so I could do this mission. When Jonas'ara (me) stepped forth and saw how much she changed, my eyes swelled up with tears at how happy I was to see how far my apprentice had come. My romance with Ashara helped me become a better person IRL over a year ago, and her reunion reminded me of how far both my character and myself have come.

    I never get tired of hearing how gun-ho and blood-thirsty the Jedi are towards a Light-Side Sith. Like that dumbass Organa on Alderaan who is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. Ah yes, Nomar, who after being convinced you're just trying to be nice after you reunite him and his old flame and leave in peace convinces himself that you're still an evil bastard and attacks you with his Padawan, getting them both killed.

    • @Briggie
      @Briggie 9 лет назад +6

      +spikegilfer1997 There is also a part in the warrior story where you meet two jedi on a space station. They are expecting a fight and you're like "Nope I don't have a beef with you, see ya" and one the jedi gets angrier and attacks you.

      In a few moments in the story it is suggested that losses and constant fighting brought by the war made the Jedi more vengeful and agressive then they normally would be. Padawans like Ashara and some of the Jedi you encounter as Sith character lived their whole lives in the shadow of the galactic war and trained knowing they will have to fight a brutal and marciless foe. It all makes sense to me, after so much pain and pressure, along the Jedi that can endure it you have both those that can't control their hate and even radicals, like The Sixth Line you encounter on Ziost, that are openly breaking their own code to achieve victory. After all, they're still people.

    I would love to see Bioware add in a DLC where you could go to the Jedi Council & petition to marry Ashara. Depending on your affiliation with the force, light, dark, or neutral would affect the outcome of the Council's decision.

    The role of a Light Side Sith can change the empire into something more dangerous than what others can see. This is why the Sith Empire fails in the long run. Too many are not really dangerous and want to kill.

    God I wished Star Wars would explore more about grey jedi. It was one of the few things I liked about rebels, how ahsoka tano was no longer a jedi but didn’t fall to the dark side either, and their was also the bendu which I really liked as well. But under Disney it ain’t going to happen.

    The inquisitor was one of the first class stories I completed, the first being smuggler. There was so much time in between those two and the rest that I barely remember Ashara's romance. That was also before I started compulsively taking screenshots as I play. Rewatching the discussion about marriage, I vaguely remember it, although I'm pretty sure I straight up proposed, and I definitely went with the option of "Well, then let's go ask the Jedi Council."

    Heres what i dont get about Ashara, at least when you initially get her, if you play it straight, play it like a sith, but lightside, you show absolutely no hostility to them, no quarrel, most jedi worth their salt would be able to see that, and notice intent with what you plan to do. Why does noone notice this, and why does even Ashara dislike you greatly initially as a result?

    Well the Gray Jedi have never been a united order. They are just individuals who left the Jedi order to fight evil as they see fit. And the Light Sith are rare, like one in hundreds. And even then they are hunted by both Jedi and Sith. That is why the Light Sith in swtor is slowly gaining allies in the Sith and Jedi while acting like a standard Sith.
    Anyway both the Sith and Jedi are so set in their ways that they won't tolerate any other force order to exist.
