I’ve watched so many videos on notebooking because I’ve wanted to implement it in out homeschool. I’ve struggled finding practical advice and most videos left me with more questions than i started with (or with the agenda to buy their curriculum/special notebook pages, etc). But your video is so helpful and by far my FAVORITE! Thank you, thank you for taking time to post this!!

Loved how his notebooking turned out. I also love that you can see a progression! Excellent work! 💕💕

Very cool. I like the idea of them telling you what they would want to write and typing it out for them, for them to copy. I think this will be helpful to me because my daughter wants to write but not knowing how to spell slows her down a bit. I’ll give it a try. I’m sure my children will love the coloring/artistic perspective. Thank you for explaining so clearly.

Thank you for sharing this resource. I'm far way from childhood and detested the copious amounts of worksheets used. The end goal became to accurately complete as many worksheets that day. But I was pondering what you said and had some ideas. Worksheets have their place when a topic is new. When new, learners need to master the vocabulary, to accurately label parts of figures and know basic facts....all of which worksheets and even lapbooks are great for but they don't encourage curiosity. That's where journaling is perfect for. When a learner has the vocabulary and basic concepts down about a subject, they have the tools to clearly write journal entries. I don't know about you, but it's in the journalling process that I begin to ponder and ask more questions as my curiosity is piqued. Journaling offers opportunities to discuss and ask, "I wonder" or "what if" questions.

What great keepsakes! Thanks for the information and examples. I tried using a notebook and was frustrated that the pages were have done or we just didn't get around to it. I'm going to give this a try today.

Thank you so much for explaining this. I have heard homeschool moms mention notebooking but didn't know what it meant. Also thanks for showing his work. This looks like so much fun!

Love this! The first year of homeschooling we did only GR plus math and I have so many cute art worksheets (especially from the Oceans unit) and I miss doing them because we now do the GR worksheets orally and skip LA. I will consider doing 1 of these notebooking pages per lesson! We start with transportation in august, so that could be super fun! Not sure how the writing part will go, but I’m always willing to try. 🙂

We did one notebooking page per lesson. It was a struggle the first couple of times, but once he knew what I expected, it went a little smoother.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm contemplating if the teacher guides could be stand-alone with notebooking added as the assignment.. I debated this at the beginning of thia school year too but went another route in the end. We haven't tried any year3, but didn't utilize a lot of the pages in the yr 1 & 2 units we have used in the past- we have mostly younger kiddos, so much of their school time is dedicated to learning to read, etc. I feel like this could be a good strategy to try, where I write for them to copy on their drawing 👌🏽

I am using just the US History teacher’s guide and we are using notebooking instead of the student pages. I feel like that could work with any of the units.

What a cool idea to use this instead of the worksheets that come with the curriculum! I love the concept of this. I'll have to check out Ellen's video that you mentioned.

This is awesome, we already do notebooking a bit like this as I got the idea from having to do it at university and my kids draw and cut their artwork out and stick it on lined paper but we could do other ways. I don’t mind them writing on linked paper and sticking it onto the art page.

Great explanation of this! Have you used any of her unit studies? I'm looking into them for next year, wondering your thoughts as I think we have similar homeschool styles...

We are doing N America next and I just bought the download. I think notebooking would a nice change of pace for this unit instead of the GR notebooks. I’m kinda nervous but I think I want to give this a try!
