- Flip Sampler for Android is Awesome!
Today we're taking a proper look at Flip Sampler for Android. Since my voice was shot yesterday, I did some exploring in a no talking video, and I feel like it was a great way to get to know the app without any expectations. Now, a day later, I have to say that I'm impressed! The arrangement features, different input methods, and extensive automation section are fantastic, and the fact that there's basically no audio latency makes this a great Android music making experience! Enjoy the video :)

Had this on iOS for a while now and its definitely a great app. Super fun.
Snagged it yesterday after watching your demo. Works fine on both my high-end tablet and my cheapo phone. It's a really deep, fun app, much of the sampling power of Koala but with its own built-in DAW.
You can "Flip" your phone upside down and the buttons will be at the other end if you want to check if that makes a difference to the sensitivity. I found that the play/stop button sometimes doesn't respond right away when it's busy doing something.
If you're using a screen protector, android has a setting to increase sensitivity, I found this helped
It's janky if you have pop up home/back bottons. Works better on a tablet where it's landscape.
Flip is just amazing! There are few minor quirks on Android but, overall, it's such a good app!
Super cool... Thanks for taking the time👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the "walk". This app is amazing!! I've been waiting for it since it was announced for ios first time. Now I'm really enyoing it.
Soooo. great to hear you got your voice back! So seems I will have to invest into a full sized android tablet just for music apps like this. My phone screen too small but doable. Nothing beats a big touch screen though. And thanks for the help on that Sabrent usb c audio adapter! Flip Sampler, Koala Sampler and FL Studio Mobile 3 pack sounds like a plan!
It was an instant buy app for me 🙌🏽🙌🏽
lol same
That looks really good and fun and a great idea for travelling. Great video.🤪.
Funny coincidence again hehe. I was about to try this one snd i saw your video 👍🏻 This is the Andrew Huang one right?
Yes it is!
Great demo, thanks. God bless you 😊🙏🏼❤
Thanks for watching!
great video like always, i just got the app yesterday for iphone , by the way you forgot to make the bass mono, which the mono function is made specially so a bass sample don’t overlap each other like it was happening with the bass line you created, i like the app but to me its way more limited, which is not so much the case to koala ones you start to fully understand it, one thing you mention is that koala it seems like its more about the samples itself and not about arranging a full song, when actually in koala you can arranged a full easily, by building each part on the sequencers pads and ones to have each section for a song then you can drag each sequencer pad in the order that want to an empty sequencer pad to create the full song which you have unlimited length for the arrangement on the piano sequencer, you can also simply arrange the full song on a sequencer pad without building each section of the arrangements separately on different sequencer pads, not sure if you new about it, but if you double click on sequencer pads you will enter the pianoroll arranger !
This app is really cool. You can tell that it's made by a musician.
One of the best perks is that it's pre-loaded with Andrew samples, sequences, & arrangements to learn from & play along with.
The help system is nice too.
Absolutely!
that's the worst thing lol
the mystery of suddenly costing 17€ here, almost twice XD
Ikr ! Greedy devs
@@presc13nti dont think they're greedy, honestly 10 bucks was super suprising for how good the app is, also the app price changed pretty soon after it came out on android which makes sense since making an android port for smth like this would basically just require re-creating it completely which means they likely had to hire more devs.
greed is a huge factor quite often in the music community, but making a app thats very much a passion project a few extra bucks is not greedy it was likely just necessary (btw it went from $10 to $15, probably was around 12€ before if i had to guess but im sadly american so i can't really check)
Great video
You can assign reverb per track/pad in the mixer
That's still just a send though.
"Let's add some bit crush."
"... Maybe not."
Lmao, this happens to me often when it comes to bitcrush fx.
Great app! But the touch latency on my Pixel 6 pro makes it unusable. And I can't find a solution anywhere on the web. You're using a 6a, so surely it will work on my 6pro. So frustrating!
I'll try it, thanks
Nice, I'm curious to see if you like this or koala more :)
@Free Beat I'll hit you back w a performance video using both and you can tell me 👊
@@FreeBeat I'm excited to have so much power that can be used at any moment
@Free Beat I'll be using my phone and shure MV88plus for any of the random moments
OK, I'm equally addicted to both Flip and Koala evenly, thanks for the heads up
Anyone figure out how to get samples in? I have thousands of samples and so far its been a pain
Saw Andrews video eh? lol I just got it also 😭
The play store says it has in-app purchases but I don't see anything listed. Has anyone seen what that entails? I don't like buy'n apps to find out I also have to buy features or ad blocks.
Maybe your phone is too old. That way it doesn't show up for some reason.
@Wigges Obk Thanks, but it shouldn't be that. It's a s22 ultra,
@@quinnsd13 ah okay. Hmm that's weird.
You can buy extra sample packs within the app, but it's completely optional. I believe Andrew even said the feature is being discontinued soon because it hasn't been that popular.
@Free Beat Awesome, thanks. Feel much better buying into it now.
Have you gotten the teenage Engineering app on your pixel yet?
have many space does the app take on Android devices?
Does anyone know if you can sample directly through the phone mic headphone socket or do you have to import your samples as files?
i have the asus zenfone and all the buttons are way too small for me and virtual potentiometers even smaller... ... way smaller than in your video.. like unuseably small :(
edit: found the issue. android app scaling fucks up the sizes of some UI elements while fitting the app for wider screens. disable that if you have the same issue and hope that they will fix it (there will now be black bars on the sides)
,I confirm It's difficult to Hit play
Why use koala sampler to record when you can do it with flip directly?
Koala seems to have more sampling editing options, but it also might just be personal preference since I've used it longer and know it better.
Andrew Huang? I wonder why the price isnt 199,- ...
