Why doesn't the Whitecaps, TFC, and Montreal have a team in this league? Btw.. this league needs to be played on grass. Turf is ruining the quality.. just my 2 cents
TFC, Whitecaps, and Montreal are elite clubs compared too CanPL as the league isn’t as stable nor popular as MLS. It might change in the future but for now it makes sense the three major Canadian clubs playing in the MLS. We’re lucky enough to have CanPL but it is improving a lot as well as soccer throughout Canada.
@killermon117 Maybe he meant a secondary team as you see in Europe. Top team plays at highest level possible and secondary team (a mix of youth ans seasoned veterans) plays 3 or 4 levels below. I quite like the idea. MLS B teams exist already, so why not a C team in CPL?
So for the turf, it's too expensive to maintain a natural grass pitch, thus the artificial turfs For the teams, CPL is a first tier team just like the MLS. That would be like saying why doesn't Real Madrid have a team have a second team in the La Liga. The Canadian MLS teams should be in the CPL, but the league isnt ready for them yet (in terms of popularity, level, and growth) Maybe one day those teams will leave MLS but for now it stays this way. The MLS teams do have a secondary team, but it's in League 1 Canada - the third tier of Canada football/soccer.
@@rickzane6433 nah it wouldn’t work out. MLS next pro includes MLS Canadian B clubs and adding them to CanPL would make the league less professional and unattractive to market for advertising. This is why USL didn’t want MLS B teams in the first place. (Affiliated teams are exceptions)
