Watching your videos on an 8" kindle tablet and found myself doing my darned best to help you move them damn boulders by twisting the screen back and forth, up and down to help move them!!! I think I helped some!!!! 🤔😁😆
It’s Friday night and there’s an hour long video to watch. Life is good! Not to mention a surprise appearance by Justin! Those are some big boulders. When you went to try and pick up that big one and the machine raised up, I knew that was more than it could handle.
On today’s episode of Chris and the rock band......No rain but more rocks. Good to see you keeping Justin busy. He seems like a good guy just trying to make an honest living.
After watching for a few years, this is the first project I’ve seen with substantial rock! NC is gods country for earthmoving! Here in Aus we strike it every second project!
It really depends on where you are in NC. Down east and the sandhills area is mostly sand. Around Raleigh it starts to get to clay and rock, then farther west you get into pure red clay. Of course, it is mostly rock in the mountains to the far west NC. It can vary in the middle of the state by driving 20-30 miles. The geology is very diverse. Chris lives 45 minutes east of me and his soil and mine are completely different. Here's an interesting link: ncgreenwaysgeology.blogspot.com/2019/08/granite-of-rolesville-batholith.html
That's why Oz has Demolition Dave. His road widening blasts are good because he does not need to cover the blast site. ruclips.net/video/7QtS1vLxhvk/видео.html
Yes, at his front gate, a few big ones stacked or layered! _Even a few placed like benches around his Oaktree he transplanted!_ (Winder how that tree maybe by now) Heck, some are big enough to block the neighbor's view and look rather nice.
Another thought would be to pile the manageable boulders on your property for the future. All the ponds you do work on would benefit to have some of these in them, not to mention yard ornaments.
For a little while I thought that first big rock was going to be a tombstone that said “Here lies a Volvo 220 that tried to move me” There is a saying in some areas, Today’s farmland is tomorrow’s sud-division. Hope no one tries to build on the Boulder pit.
Half a century from now, there will be some operator on an excavator, digging sewer and storm water..... An he/she will be "Where did this s4!T come from.... Lols
Once in the 80's I moved a large rock in my A35c. It was so big that it just fitted in the back of the A35 and it still remains where I tipped it next to the road. Now it has got some moss on it. I visit it sometimes and say hello.
Flinging rocks so big they shake the ground (and camera) when they land - LOVE IT! Sadly the landings were off camera but I still enjoyed the video (I always do). I giggled a little when Justin played the tones and chimed in with "This is your Captain speaking....."
Back in the 80s I hauled a lot for the Core of Enginers ..we hauled up to...48 inch bolders...for a lock and dam...river banks...bridge's...we added a foot tall beam on each side of the tailgate just to have extra room to dump...and had oak 4x4 ties in the floor... Be safe. 😀
Ole Volvo got a workout in this video 📷, awesome content Chris, these hour long videos are Sweet, no other construction channel's do that, thanks for sharing Chris, much appreciated for the entertainment bud, 🇱🇷 how many hours is on that machine now
Of all the folks you interact with almost regularly on camera, Justin and Charlie are 2 of my favorites. Justin just gets me laughin when he starts laughin and Charlie is a wealth of smart.
Chris. Hubby is a blaster. He noticed exactly what you mentioned. They didn’t drill enough holes to shoot the rock properly. They is some big uns there. 😉
There is something satisfying when he finally dislodges one of those huge boulders ... although I had this mental image of a hydraulic line flaying about as he was straining to move them. What a rock plant.
The thing that fascinates me about your work is that unlike many operators, you do not just use the power of the machine. You use ideas and creativity to get the job done in the best way and with the least damage to the device . Sorry my english isn't good
The ground where I live is stoney and difficult to dig. I will never complain ever again! Also, I see why your digger made short work of those trees around the pond. Mental physics!
You have a real Knack for finding those Big Tossing Stones. Like a whole field of them. That bucket and thumb are really showing their metal for you. Darn good investment by you on them. The dump site is filling in nicely, push by push....shove by shove.
Poor 220, kinda makes ya feel sorry for the old girl & at the same time appreciate the hard life those you see at auctions have had. At least those new pins & bushes you're saving will bring her back to life 👍
My 4th grade geology teacher: "Dirt is a process of thousands of years of rocks being broken into smaller pieces" Chris: "this piece is gonna take me a few minutes"
I was fucking dying laughing when you said '' I'm not gonna put that boulder there it might roll onto the tailgate (Five seconds later) Boulder rolls onto tailgate ''Like that one''
Wow. Must be a very profitable animal hospital. The site preparation costs may take 100 years to pay off. Must be very expensive. Lots of time and trucking. Love your videos. Thanks.
Those are some serious rocks. I also seem to remember there were trees on top of them. I think I should have been surprised that there was grass growing over those rocks. Wow.
Another great video Chris! 👌, was anybody else's OCD satisfied when at the end of the video Chris pushed that one rock sticking up on it's own at the dump site in with the rest of the rocks?!
Awesome long Video.good To see Justin all Happy and Working.the hospital site is comming along nicely.whats gonna happen with all the boulders? Off To the Rock crusher with them?stay safe Chris.😀
Well you know they are big rocks when they roll or drop, they shake the camera.😲 It is the same thing I deal with trying to dig at my cabin, 80% of my time is spent trying to find a rock that will move and then dig it out and hope that I can move enough rock to bury the big ones I can't get out. Good job moving some huge rocks 👍👍
This is one of those love hate jobs. Makes great videos for us but really rough on your body and equipment. I’m sure you feel this job at the end of the day in the ole body. Monster rock your pulling out.
Chris, another great video, and the time of the video is great, and yes as someone else posted, I catch myself trying to help you move the huge boulders. Thank you again!.
I think it should be called “The hard rock animal sanctuary” what with the “rocky start” to the job and what looks like its going to be a "rocky finish" too. I think you hit “rock bottom” with this job Chris, I would be feeling crushed if I took that job on lol. Ok Im done with the puns , great video as usual 😎
The view at 54:50 gives ys a better appreciation of the size and depth of that pit "hole" ! Man, that's huge and deep. At times, I find myself strugling with the digger or the "lil" dozer.
A Welsh person could be excommunicated for suggesting Wales was anything but a country in its own right. You'll at least be able to sympathize with Chris regarding all the rain they've had in NC.
@@TrevorDennis100 I am not Welsh by birth but have lived in Wales for nearly 30 years. But WE all are part of the UK. Don't want to get into an argument but remember people travel and settle all over the world.
Fun to watch, but I’m guessing not so fun to move! The poor Volvo sure is taking a beating. Got to admit there were a couple of times I was involuntarily trying to back-track as I watched a few of those over-grown pebbles teeter back towards the cab! I know how much you love getting the cab splashed with mud but if one of those bad boys comes back on ya it’s gonna leave a mark!
I thought I was the only one that did that. Every once in a while I put it back to 1:1 speed for a particular moment, and the movements of the equipment seem absolutely glacial.
Do you think you would be able to pick that up if you had a Stationary thumb? I have a stationary on my 50,000 pound cat and its picked up everything that I’ve tried I feel like I can get more grip/ pressure with it than I could with a hydraulic thumb.
And they say the ancient people moved close to perfectly carved 105 ton rock's by hand with rope's, logs, and sand as lubrication. Puts things into perspective.
If ever there was a top Advert for Volvo this video is it could not believe the size of those rocks "aka tiny mountains" you had to move.....just a shame Justin did not turn up with his wife and some spray paint tagging what rocks she wanted and seeing his face when he`s thinking how am I gonna shift this lot....Great video.......Stay Safe
Nice you pointed out Justin`s new bed boards, and John is still driving with splits on the ends. If you had a Miner`s Card - it would have to state you are Certified to extract all based material from Mud to Giant Boulders.
An Bertha has been over taken, next thing to buy is a hammer an rock teeth lol, great job sir, thank you for your time an allowing us to follow along. You can definitely tell that the rocks/ boulders weight shakes the ground
I know that was more work to change the angles when you were filling in that hole but thanks it looked better. Your outside shot digging the rocks , some of the "smallish" looking ones was shaking the camera so I guessed they were heavier than they looked :)
