Love the studio version, but let's be honest, this is a million times better. The studio version cannot remotely compete with this, iron maiden is one of those few bands which make songs you thought couldn't get any better and listen for hours and then they play it on stage and your jaw hits the floor when you hear this awesomeness kick in.
Gracias eternas! Up the Irons!!!!!
This is a perfect vocal performance, because it holds up 20 years later, in Australia. In their own branded jet. I think they're doing something right.
@Pedro Reinaldo I can't see how you can justify that remark, as this is classic Maiden from their first heyday. They have had another heyday since. Not many bands manage that, without breaking up which Maiden never did. Grats for hearing something better, post it please!
Beast Over Hammersmith 1982 version was. The band played the song about twice faster on that concert version than it ever was on the original The Number Of The Beast album.
There’s the studio version and other live versions. But this version from Long Beach is amazing as Maiden brings out all of their passion and pours it all over this performance. Live after death will forever be timeless.
My fav song and best live album imo....was 15 when this came out oh the memories.....dont care what anyone says the musicianship is out of this world ....up the irons!!!
I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time 'Cause at 5 o'clock, they take me to the Gallows Pole The sands of time for me are running low, yeah! When the priest comes to read me the last rites I take a look through the bars at the last sights Of a world that has gone very wrong for me Can it be that there's some sort of error Hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end, not some crazy dream? Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming The words escape me when I try to speak Tears flow, but why am I crying After all I'm not afraid of dying Don't I believe that there never is an end As the guards march me out to the courtyard Somebody cries from a cell "God be with you" If there's a God then why has he let me go? As I walk all my life drifts before me And though the end is near I am sorry Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away Mark my words, believe my soul lives on Don't worry now that I have gone I've gone beyond to seek the truth When you know that your time is close at hand Maybe then you'll begin to understand Life down here is just a strange illusion
Iron Maiden, Who art from Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, When Metal's sung On Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily shred, And deliver us from Evil. For Thine is The Kingdom, The Power, And the Glory Forever and ever. Iron Men.

This song...This album..the year is 86..and my life have changed with this song and this album...I Chosed the other way in the life... which is hard and heavy...
Sitting on the front porch drinking and smoking same time listening this unbelievable song that's take me from slow ride to fast high ride into the darkness.
Metall rules!!!
Ah! Thank you Skeletor. Taking me back to when me and my friends were drinking beer in someone's cold garage somewhere in my BFE of the long-haired past.
I'm British Indian and remember buying the double cassette album and listening to this on my Walkman in my room singing along and playing air guitar! Needless to say I didn't have many Asian friends!
Lol ... Well I'm Franco Indian ( Asian ) and I was ( and still am ) a huge fan of this album myself. I'm definitely not ashamed of myself nor do I deny these great moments. I even use to wear the T.Shirt of this album at school. No bluffing. I swear . Bless !
@Imperium Europa There is also a great parallel between South Asian instruments and Western instruments. As far as, the guitars are concerned, for me, Iron Maiden is simply perfection in the making. Just bought myself the album " A real dead one " ( Awesome ).
@Imperium Europa No for the live concert in Mumbai, Imperium Europa. In fact, I am a person of Indian origin living in France. I was aware that Bruce Dickinson came very recently to Paris but I do not know if he came with his team. There is a demand for Iron Maiden's return to France in July 2025, I believe. I think they are touring in California right now. I read that we belong to the same generation since I am 42 years old. During my youth till today, I also left the ' Heavy Metal genre ' to discover other style of music and more particularly about my roots musically speaking ( as well as historically speaking ). I just came back to re-listening to Iron Maiden and ' Iron Maiden ' in particular because I see a distinction between this group from the others. I join you completely in your sayings " there's a magic and chemistry with them, and with their fans, which is very unique and which you just do not see in other bands " : I completely agree. I feel it is also very important to show appreciation to all these old groups while they are still alive ( without wanting to sound morbid or anything ) : To let them know how well they, their work and their legacy are still enjoyed today. I feel it is important to do that somehow.
@Imperium Europa I will try to attend the next one in France if I can. Seing them ' live ' must be another thing ... : waoaaaw. I also have a great admiration for what they did in Sarajevo for the people.
@@Ryan_Thompson_Guitarist I agree with both of you, but in this particular song I think it is utterly overdubbed. There is a tremendous difference between the 'live' voice of Bruce on those days, very stressed and mostly chest voice with lots of belting from the voice of the second verses which is much clearer and closer to head voice that Bruce used to have in studio recordings. All these 'live' lp's were actually remastared at studio and specially vocals. Now that thanx to youtube we can have acces to many real live performances with the obvious mistakes mostly in vocals it is undeniable.
I bought this album back in the early 90's I've listened to it so long when I finally heard the studio album I thought.. what is this... that isn't right..
This is a very respectable live version... And I know many people like The raw energy of a live performance, But the album version is absolute perfection. And the vocal notes Bruce Hit in 1982??? It's an Historic performance... Clive Burr's drum performance can't be beat... (The original On Number of the Beast)
I agree, this is one of the best live albums ever, it's hard to find a live album that sounds as good as the stuff played in the studio, Maiden is just that good! I hate that I've missed them, in years past, but you never know, my love of metal, and my peter pan syndrome, and my appreciation of great musicians, that combination may give me a chance to see them one day, long live Maiden
i saw Maiden way back in the old days in 1984 in a small hall; they waited to play us that some fans from Amsterdan who where stuck in the mist were arrived and played 5 extra gifts!!! wich rockband will do that for their loyal fans? Maiden did!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you posting this!!!! I was trying to find Bruce's "Scream for me Long Beach" and it's been edited out of every version I was finding online! Spotify, Pandora, most of RUclips, it was a frustrating search, but thank you for being the light at the end!
Yeah' Iron Maiden definitely there finalist Hour in the History of Rock, Live After Death' 1985 an Album which will' Live with Iron Maiden fans in Iron Maidens history Catalogue, which will Live On' after we maiden fans have sadly passed Away and will Continue' Onwards, for maybe even a Thousand' Years, Mike London England UK
The greatest version of the greatest Maiden song ever. Nobody can touch Maiden live, this is the benchmark for live albums!
right, hammersmith 82 was a lil bit better
not a little since bruce's voice there is at his best
and here he couldn't do the high notes
Rock in Rio is one of the best
Yes!
You goddamn right, best one on recording anyway
My wife asked me why I love metal so I played this version of song for her and then she became Iron Maiden fan too...
Play the whole damned album Live after Death for her....
Fuck yeah 🤘
Partnering done right!! 👌👌❤
Your wife has an ear for music haha
For sure... This is THEE version of this song
For the last 34 years this album has just delivered, it's one of the best, if not THE best, live albums ever. Up The Irons!
EPIC
Agree, best Live LP ever.
Je confirme.
This. Is. So. True.
I much prefer this live version. The tempo is perfect on this one.
indeed the Golden duo Adrian and Dave!!!!
Brian Conway absolutely. Live after death is king of maiden live.
Love the studio version, but let's be honest, this is a million times better. Beast Over Hammersmith 1982 version was. The band played the song about twice faster on that concert version than it ever was on the original The Number Of The Beast album.
by far....
The guitar solos in this version make me cry they are so good. When Adrian comes in....just ridiculous.
it's frickin unbelievably good
Yep - what you said Ryan!!
Adrian is on Gibson....
Great sound...
My favorite version of "Hallowed"!
The best version
@@jairpasturiza4069 Hammersmith live 1982*
Heard it a zillion times, never grows old, makes every hair on my body stands up
This. Song. Makes me cry. Legit tears

The best maiden album ever

My fav song and best live album imo....was 15 when this came out oh the memories.....dont care what anyone says the musicianship is out of this world ....up the irons!!!
I was 15 too.
The best
Me too was 15
Best live album ever
Was recorded in long beach

The best version of the best song which ever made in music history \m/
First metal song ever listened... pure love
I was there front row. I still have the ticket stub.
Scream for me Long Beach!!!
True Maiden Fan right there!!! \m/
This is my favorite Maiden song of all time... Very intense & dynamic.
Explorando o máximo das cordas vocais ! A melhor versão live !!!!
Dave and Adrian's solo on this version still brings tears to my eyes after so many years. Just a perfect representation of their distinct styles.
this version
It's like philosophy, music, theology, law, all in one. So incredible
So very fucking good. The beginning, middle and end of Maiden skills.
This live version is actually WAAAYYY better than the studio version (which still rocks of course!)...Maiden rules!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my back patch on my demin jacket... EPIC ALBUM!!
Nothing beats live after death versions! Fact!
The best part of this song is from 0:00 to 7:22 !
Live After Death the best!
Best song. Best version. Scream for me Long Beach
Kidkoffee, fuck yeah! I was there!

I was there at Long Beach Arena 1985... and again at Irvine Meadows a few days later, on acid. Don't tell my kids.
This song...This album..the year is 86..and my life have changed with this song and this album...I Chosed the other way in the life... which is hard and heavy...
The best Heavy Metal Live Record ever....
so much better than the studio. now who does that these days! ?
I agree I was fortunate enough to see this live in the early 80's. Best of all Iron Maiden!!!
This may be their best song, all genres. Simply the best.....
Sitting on the front porch drinking and smoking same time listening this unbelievable song that's take me from slow ride to fast high ride into the darkness.
I got this album in middle school, and I memorized every song I think it was definitely a great live album.

3:27 Voice mode god = ON
overdubbed... unfortunately. the 2nd half of both verses were overdubbed. listen to the difference in and lack of straining in his voice.
I don't think it was overdubbed. I think it was taken from one of the other nights

Scream for me Long Beach! This song (album cover) has been tattooed in my back.
