- We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1982 Quincy Jones-produced album, “Donna Summer”, with a new CD and 2LP red & blue vinyl edition.
Includes the international hits ‘Love Is In Control (Finger on The Trigger)’ and ‘State Of Independence’ with bonus tracks including 7” Singles versions, two 12” Versions and Non-Album B-Side ‘Sometimes Like Butterflies’.
The new single ‘Mystery Of Love [Le Flex “Summer Mystery” Remix]’ has been given a contemporary r&b/dance feel and will be available on the 19th August.

Ugh mystery of love is easily one of my top 5 Donna summer songs I’m glad they chose it as the single it always deserved to be
The most beautiful rocking song ever.
The lady was class and knew how to whack out a tune.
It reaches the parts that it should.
Sadly missed and to think such beauty could be banned by the British Establishment - BBC .

@@mikejimenez7421 Looking at what you have written, it seems you didn’t follow her career in the 80s until she died! She went ahead and sang what she wanted and she is well-respected by the Record industry and that’s why she is inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame among only few women performers. Her place in History cannot be denied and she is the Queen of Disco and still at the forefront of Modern Music (her close friend Elton John confirms and ordains this fact)
@@kojoharrison630 yes I did Follow In the 80s I meant In her peak in upto 1979 She was restricted to do our own thing my brother Kojo I Was DJ In Local Brooklyn Disco Club At Time I Feel LOVE Was No1 music Change After That in the beginning I didn't like Bad Girls album but I grown to like it Giorgio moroder change the music sound of the future went to see her live in Forest Hills Queens it was the greatest shows that ever seen in my life 🙏💥❤😎
@@mikejimenez7421 Thanks Mike 👍🏾. I felt the same about Bad Girls… it was Donna’s own concept after a Night out on Vine Street in LA and she raked in a variety of songwriters & musicians to complete the project. In the early days she had to establish herself and she had to comply with Contractual obligations but she was no pushover that’s why she co-wrote & composed a lot of her tracks too. Giorgio calls it a “Collaboration” and Donna’s own ideas on her albums were prominent. But as she became more established she was in a much better position to extend her boundaries and diverse range of music as much as possible. Just like yourself I didn’t understand ‘Bad Girls’ and didn’t like it to start with but it grew on me and I ended up loving it. Now I play it all the time (I still have the original Vinyl Double Album from 1979 and it still looks new)

When the powers that be release new Donna Summer music, they should also put the new release on the i|Tunes/Apple Music home page where the new music section is so that those who are browsing music will see it. Why the powers that be at Donna's estate don't do this, I don't know. Just saw Michael Jackson's 40th anniversary for Thriller on the iTunes/Appple Music home page and it brought me here to say something. Hello! Advertisement! (smile)

....I always thought I was the ONLY One who loved this 1982 LP, but a few mis-steps, on this 40th Anv. re-issue...If I may.... (cont.)
- ...NO original 'duet' with Bruce Springsteen on "Protection"; his restored Vocals would've had this re-issue selling like HOTCAKES!
- ...NO original 'demo' of "State Of Independence"; Quincy Jones said in a VERY controversial interview that Michael Jackson 'stole' the rhythm track of this tune...It would make fans happy to hear the 'scratch' track, to see for ourselves....
- NO 12" Instrumental of, "Love Is in Control"; the Inst. had a Sax player playing over where Donna 's vocal were, making it a completely different track....it would've made a nice 'bookend', if included.....
- ..NO updated remixes of any of the OTHER tracks; "Sometimes Like..." was covered by Kristine W., it coulda gotten a Club touch-up, along with, "If It Hurts Just....", "State..." or, "Protection"....
- ....NO outtakes or Photo sessions from, "I'm A Rainbow", the aborted 1981 LP, that CAUSED this Album to replace it..... Oh, well....

So in the ad it says “Download and Streaming Available to order now”…where is it available for download and streaming??? I have both Amazon Music Unlimited, which I’m dropping because it sucks, and Apple Music, it’s no where to be found on either.
I also thought Mystery of Love was a very missed opportunity for Summer and this album. I think it would have been a huge hit, even in its original form back in 1982.
Mystery of Love definitely, I was so shocked it wasn't released as the 2nd single. But that was Geffen for you.
@@anthonya.antonio Me too! I used to listen to it incessantly and could never figure out why it was never released commercially either. Although it’s an excellent song, State of Independence was never a HUGE hit here in America. It made it to #41. I think with a little tweaking by Quincy Jones, Mystery of Live could have been a successful 3rd single from the album
I used to request it whenever I went to clubs back in the day with varying degrees of willingness from DJs. When it was played, it usually drew a large crowd to the dance floor. Maybe Quincy had moved on from the album or thought it wasn’t worth the expense to release it as a single. In my teeny tiny world I certainly tried my best to promote it! lol
Also I just watched an interview with Pete Bellotte who said Geffen wasn’t a fan of dance music. So basically he just signed Summer to squeeze as much profit from her as possible and then dumped her. I never liked that weasel.
@@TannerCity I really think Geffen was largely responsible for the downturn in her career. They never did release the right singles and as a result, the albums always suffered. He should have released her from her contract after this album so she could have moved on. State of Independence is a great song, but it wasn't commercial, it wouldn't even make it today. Mystery of Love seemed the most logical choice. What did they know?
Interesting to hear it drew a large crowd on the dance floor when requested.

@@anthonya.antonio I agree. Mr. Geffen got her and didn’t really know what to do with her and proceeded to separate her from everyone who had helped to make her successful, it was just a bad fit

Mystery of Love as the single! What a great surprise, one of my favorites, they really missed out on that one back in the day. That could have been a top 10 smash easily.
Love it too, but my favorite on album was Love is Just a Breath Away.

Always been a fan of Donna and lost her too soon. I'm not interested in a booklet or the same mixes being recycled thru repackaging. The LeFlex mixes are just kind of meh... how bout some more modern remixers being let loose on her brilliant works
