Kv-3 used to be my favorite tank, but it has fallen to the grasp of power creep and its pretty bad now. Imo wg should buff its sides so it can sidescrape better because the whole line can (including kv-2) and the line is like this imo Kv1s=kv2 Is>kv3 Is3
KV-3 with the 100mm gun is my pick if I had to choose between the two. I LOVE tanks with turret armor even if they don't have the hull armor to go with it. It's like a shield: it's nice to know you have control over what part of your vehicle you expose and if you have a good turret, you can control said shield.
Also here's what I found out about the KV-3: Before the update 5.5, the T-150 was the tank before the KV-3 (still is in the present WoT Blitz today) and it had a gun that could deal over 300 damage to enemy tanks. But as soon as update 5.5 came around, the T-150 became a rare collector tank and was removed from the tech tree. To this day, if you install the first turret and barrel that the KV-3 has when you first get it, you will have yourself a "Free" T-150! It deals the same amount of damage and reload time that the T-150 would have, but the KV-3 has the better armor and a bit more mobility. I thought this was pretty cool because unfortunately I don't have the T-150, so I decided to make my own version out of the KV-3 instead :D
Each KV tank has its own unique qualities. KV1: A great T5 tank with a decent alpha for its tier. KV1-S: A perfect version of KV1 with good speed and alpha. The speed allows you to get in positions and retreat from trouble quickly. KV2: We all know. That terrifying derp gun. Can't pen? Then use the HE! And then there's KV3: A good frontline with that thick frontal armor. I really wanna see what the KV4 and KV5 are capable of.
I prefer the KV-3 with the 100mm gun mounted. The calibre is not too low like that of a Tiger but the consequences of using a bigger gun aren't as bad as carrying the 122. I can duel Tigers reliably along with other heavy tanks, while also having enough DPM to deal with lights and meds that try to circle. The 122 is not a bad gun tho, I just prefer the versatility that comes with the 100mm on the KV-3. You're punchier than a Tiger but not as unwieldy as an IS.
The gun I run for the IS is the 100mm gun. It’s almost better than the 122mm in every way. They have the same pen at 175mm, the 100 has half the reload of the 122. The only thing the 122 is the alpha damage but that’s it. For the kv 3, the 122mm seems more suited for it since u have armor and health so they compliment the 122.
The Chineese IS-2 has better upper plate armor, traverse speed, shell velocity and almost three times the credit coefficient of the Soviet IS. AND 275mm of armor pen with calibrated shells means you can pen the upper plate of a tiger 2 head on.
I used the 100mm on the KV-3. It’s actually better than the 122 IMO because I can peekaboom better while sidescraping. Good tank. I definitely enjoyed the KV-3 more than the IS because the IS played more like a Heavium and that cupola is a skyscraper.
R J whoops, you’re right on that. I didn’t peekaboom much now that I realize it- my mistake. I meant that I can easily out-reload my opponents and deal easier follow up shots on the frontlines of a battle.
Yea but I didn't have much luck sidescraping with the kv idk why. But yea the turret and mobility are definitely a breaking point. It's really hard to argue but Idk.
In terms of mobility the IS has better traverse speeds and its overall top speed which you have to get accustomed to with the KV-3 for it isn’t as mobile as the IS. The thing you have over the IS is gun depression 7 vs 6 degrees and you have the armor to reliably bounce shots. Its more of map awareness if your aware of some tanks coming around the corner and you traverse quick enough then you can shoot them and win the engagement.
@@toshitanaka1550 the IS has something good in all areas. It has a decent gun, slightly worse armour than KV3, good speed and traverse. While the KV3 is just too slow for what I like to play.
Can you do ru vs indien please? I nevee went the german light line and I wanted to know what I would be working with when I get that far. If you cant its ok
I played both tanks KV3 is way easier to play than the IS but both can do their part if your team supports and you don't make mistakes which I do regularly
IS is my favourite tank out of every tank. It have very good mobility and very good 400 dmg. IS armour is not that good, but you could get alot of bounces if you move alot, thanks to its mobility. The gun aim time is definitely it's weakness, but overall it's the most balanced tank in T7 in my opinion
i feel like it don't really matter which is better out of the kv 3 and is since kv-4 is better than is-3 now with its over buffing in the hands of a good player a kv-4 is one of the best t8 heavies now probably and since kv-3 goes to the kv-4 the is line is not really relevant anymore.
It's the opposite for me, Kv-1s gun is the same as kv1, except kv-1s reload is slower, and much more aim time. Also I think IS mobility is great for T7 heavy I was going 35-38 kph on standard
i think kv3 is more noob friendly and is good for average players, but is doesn't really have armour honestly, doesn't have the hp, doesn't have dpm or accuracy, only the alpha and ok speed, but kv3 has really strong armour, the most hp at tier 7, really nice alpha, and insane sidescraping abilities.
After the buff in recent update , I will still pick IS over KV-3 The mobility and gun handling of IS is much better than KV-3 And the IS armour is more easy to use than KV-3
Yes you are right there. Is can just squish squash deflect bullets however after playing KV3 for like 600 matches, I get to know how the armor works. You just need to hold still there and make minimum movements or you will surely get pen even on front armor if you move. It's actually russian Biased since KV3 works with lady luck and if you are you will be deflecting bullets even from su 122 top gun.
KV 3 is like a medium tank but has good amor and good gun and slower speed / it is very good survivabilty rate beacause of the insane hp and good sppend

I was in my type 62 circling an IS and his traverse speed kept up with me so for that I would get the IS plus it's a better line in my opinion
ST-1 and IS-4 are great tanks
After tier 9 you can basically stop because the IS-7 gets ammo racked too easily
IS-7 gets ammo-racked like 80% of the time

DPM doesn't matter if you can't get the amount of shots off, many people hide when they are reloading, making low alpha tanks at a disadvantage.

I preferred to run both with the stock 100mm guns when i ran them. The thicc guns were not fun for me
Pantouf said kv-3 is one of the worse tank, but opinion, the ht with the highest HP in his tier and an 460 alpha makes him a real excellent tank
I love my is. A lot of players underestimate the reload and meds underestimate the traverse.

It doesn't feels quite right with the 122mm. The 100 mm is better as there is better DPM, Dispersion, aiming time and prammo pen.

I prefer KV-3 because it can sidescrape and fight on ridgelines with 7 degrees of gun depression. It also has a stronger turret than the IS.

KV-3 is kinda good imo, i have fun wiggling my tank and bouncing 3-5 shells with it, the dpm is good and the aiming time is okay too.

I’d go for the IS because the grind is better and your mobility is good. I don’t think aiming is that bad but still, it’s sorta bad.

If you're peek a boom your aim must be to deal high damage per shot where the 122mm excels.

I think that the IS IS the Supperior one. I played both and I like IS cuz you can efectively sidescrape.

KV-3 is better because of more HP, and smaller turret weakspots at the front. I'd prefer IS just because of the IS-7 lmao

Ryguyplayze kv4 has more pen though, 227mm with standard and is3 has 225 standard (no cs)
