I am glad I wasn't the only one who noticed how good Gigi's runs are, particularly towards the last chorus and the coda of "Through the Fire". The band accompanied Gigi very well, too (props to them, they did a marvelous job) - which added an oomph to this version. To make the long story short, Gigi owned this song. It's my current favorite rendition of this Chaka Khan classic. I can't say that I am a musician myself, but I was somehow exposed to music, particularly to live musical performances that's why I can understand your reaction (by the way, I love your opening song). Anyway, I'm happy to have discovered you, guys, you just earned another follower. More power!

That's why here in the Philippines, when it comes to singing contest, it feels like it's just a battle of luck and strategy on how to convince voters to vote you because there's a lot of great singers that can really really slay . Btw if you guys don't know Nina, she's a popular singer here in the philippines she even have a title upon mentioning her name which is "Diamond Soul Siren" maybe you could also check her out sometime. But im gonna say i also like Gigi's version of this, hands down.

Imagine there are still basher who have the audacity to say she “screams” all the time. SMH She has this metallic tone in her upper register and some people can’t distinguish that from “screaming”.
She did mostly scream in one song I will not mention here, but that was the band's fault for putting a song in a high note. You cannot avoid these accidents, because she's singing live and doing many songs without break or drinking water. It happens. It's ok. No one's perfect.
