At the time, they said the album "sounded like a Tom Verlain albun" in the press, but it was not hard to see that it was actually a tremendous return to form and absolutely a Television album. The two tracks they played on 'Later' are Television classics comparable with anything they've done. Who-wawah-hoo-hoo!
So happy to find this footage-my vhs tape was damaged,I can remember the excitement at hearing Television would be performing on this show. We've been so lucky in Ireland to see them..look for Television at Vicar St.-it's remarkable!
With respect, a band as seminal and competent as Television does not need to plagiarize anything from The Smiths. This is actually one of my favourite Television tracks, and I prefer this live version to the album version. This RUclips video is, however, not the best recording of this live version on RUclips.

Fica's drumming and Fred Smith on the base are seamless. A great musical band.
@oregonbobv I agree--Billy Ficca especially has long been an underrated drummer who's very proficient with a metronomic beat.
richard lloyd is THE MAN.
Sie sind die besten...! :-)
Wow no way. I'm huge fans of both.
lloyd's parts are really great, they make the song in this case
i like it .
I almost think that Lloyd and Verlaine were in a vicious competion while these songs were being recorded. Damn these guys were (are?) good.
A banda Legião Urbana foi influenciada pela banda Television.
Ahhh, this is astonishing. Something like guitar nirvana.
Tom Verlaine genial....
I love reclusive rock geniuses who wear dodgy baseball caps.
This song is just a bad version of "Head Master Ritual" by The Smiths. They had the right idea but just didn't do it as good.
