Alfonse finally winning after all these years really shows how he's coming up as a FE character. Nobody even remembers the twins from the first Warriors game, so to see Alfonse win CYL warms my heart. Also happy to see F!Robin win, and while I'm meh on Bernadetta and Felix, at least it wasn't Engage. Just a personal opinion, but I'm not ready to see any Engage units in CYL. Unless it's Zelkov.
I hope F Robin is in a Sorcerer/dark mage inspired outfit with a colourless Tome inspired by nosferatu, as a reference to how popular Nos tank robin is in awakening, make her a Vantage drain tank type character that would be my ideal version. Bernie I hope she’s a red a bow with the ‘Inexhaustible’ bow you get from the leonie linhardt paralogue, seeing as she has alts of the other colours already. Felix I want to be like rodrigue, a holy knight, probably blue tome. And Alfonse I want to take inspiration from Hel, make him an Axe flier and say that instead of becoming like Lif, he was able to defeat Hel and steal her power or something.
Yunaka's terrible gifts did quite the number I'm m sure, but now that she got karma for breakfast, she's linning up to winning next year I think, still... complacency is a hell of a drug, so don't fall for it Yunaka fans. I’m definitely part of this problem, but I think what happened is that people assumed “yeah Engage will probably win, so I’ll just throw my votes at other characters” I am personally ok with the results, it is a popularity poll at the end of the day. Not a huge Bernie fan, but I respect her fanbase for coming together and getting her redemption. Cool to see for them!

I think the vote shows the Engage characters weren't as impactful to people -- story or lore wise. I personally found all of them boring one-note trope characters. Yunaka was the only one to me that was interesting. I like the designs of a lot of the Engage characters, but that's about it. I don't see them making it to CYL9, but maybe. With the new mechanic, I think Engage was made for Heroes specifically, so I'm not as big a fan of the game as I was when it came out.
You missed a few of the rankings by title I believe. At the very least, Blazing Blade. Surprisingly, that one had Sonia in first, then 2. Nino, 3. Ninian, 4. Athos, and 5 Loyd. (Also Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance and Awakening seem to be missing)
I mean I remember seeing one comment in a bunch of feh videos saying they were asking people to band together to vote for alfonse. Was only one guy, but they did it for a month or two. Also I think most people can actually get behind a brave alfonse, as he’s not hated, he doesn’t have many alts, and it’s not a typical lord. Just my guess.

The way you feel about Three Houses characters is exactly how I feel about Alphonse and Sharena. I just don't get it. They are the most milquetoast, generic characters in the game. But hey, to each their own.
They were at first, but as the books progressed, they had a lot of character development Alfonse went from the bench lord to a bonafide main character that people respect
I'm not so hot on this cyl but most of the popular female characters i like have already won so i don't really pay attention to the female side because no one i actually like will win (even the leading 2 engage girls I don't care as much about compared to other engage girls). There are still lots of popular male characters i like on that side, like 70% of the top 20 males. Basically the only one i care about this year is Alfonse.
I saw that engage isnt actually well received in japan and most of the engage votes came from the west were as fe4,fe5 and 3houses are all loved in japan which shows with 3hs have 2nd and 3rd on the men and sigurd being 4th and leif 6th as well as bernie winning by alot
In CYL1 Fates as the recent game didn't get a winning spot either. The votes were spread out amongst the cast and littered top 20 results in the same way Engage did this year. I feel like people are being a bit dramatic about Engage not sweeping the board. The only game that has ever done that is Three Houses. People forget that game has come out early in Feh's lifespan and has gotten so much attention inside and out of Feh, way more than Engage has gotten. I thought it was rather obvious people would vote for popular standouts but not be able to beat out dedicated fans who have been voting way longer for Felix, Bernadetta or F!Robin. That would have been like expecting Leo and Takumi to beat Ike and Roy or Camilla to beat Lyn, like come on now 😂 Sometimes you got to play the long game and eliminate popular competition so that runner ups are one step closer and with the benefit of being better units a year later.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't know what annoys me more: the fact that folk laughed at Engage getting blocked in this, or that Three Houses/Hopes keeps getting all of this favoritism. Seriously, they have the most characters and alts, on top of the fact that a bunch of these guys already have the most CYL alts out of every other game in the series. Before you start, yes, I'm aware it's the best selling game in the series, and played it, too. The only difference, unlike the majority of folks, is that I moved on from it. I'm not fixated on 3H all the time. They need to reel it in to let other picks have a shot. The only real surprise to me was Alphonse; he earned this, and I wouldn't be too surprised if Sharena is next.
I mean, waifu are good. But sometimes there are some male characters that absolutely crush any waifu no questions. I’ll marry gatekeeper any day of the week. Also I feel like there must have been a rally of some sorts to vote for Alphonse. Saw a RUclips comment post for a few months to vote for him on most feh videos I watched.

At least the results here tell me that I can save my orb’s cause only robin and Bernie interest me as units and one of them would be for free.
Hopefully next year an engage sweep will happen cause I feel like some of them in the lower ranks deserve it more

The way you feel about Three Houses characters is exactly how I feel about Alphonse and Sharena. I just don't get it. They are the most milquetoast, generic characters in the game. But hey, to each their own.
They were at first, but as the books progressed, they had a lot of character development
Alfonse went from the bench lord to a bonafide main character that people respect

I'm not so hot on this cyl but most of the popular female characters i like have already won so i don't really pay attention to the female side because no one i actually like will win (even the leading 2 engage girls I don't care as much about compared to other engage girls). There are still lots of popular male characters i like on that side, like 70% of the top 20 males.
Basically the only one i care about this year is Alfonse.

I saw that engage isnt actually well received in japan and most of the engage votes came from the west were as fe4,fe5 and 3houses are all loved in japan which shows with 3hs have 2nd and 3rd on the men and sigurd being 4th and leif 6th as well as bernie winning by alot

Usually Takumi and Leo can be seen in top 20 or you'll se Xander and maybe Ryoma. For me I don't care for Engage. I still haven't finished it.
In CYL1 Fates as the recent game didn't get a winning spot either. The votes were spread out amongst the cast and littered top 20 results in the same way Engage did this year. I feel like people are being a bit dramatic about Engage not sweeping the board. The only game that has ever done that is Three Houses. People forget that game has come out early in Feh's lifespan and has gotten so much attention inside and out of Feh, way more than Engage has gotten.
I thought it was rather obvious people would vote for popular standouts but not be able to beat out dedicated fans who have been voting way longer for Felix, Bernadetta or F!Robin. That would have been like expecting Leo and Takumi to beat Ike and Roy or Camilla to beat Lyn, like come on now 😂
Sometimes you got to play the long game and eliminate popular competition so that runner ups are one step closer and with the benefit of being better units a year later.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't know what annoys me more: the fact that folk laughed at Engage getting blocked in this, or that Three Houses/Hopes keeps getting all of this favoritism. Seriously, they have the most characters and alts, on top of the fact that a bunch of these guys already have the most CYL alts out of every other game in the series.
Before you start, yes, I'm aware it's the best selling game in the series, and played it, too. The only difference, unlike the majority of folks, is that I moved on from it. I'm not fixated on 3H all the time. They need to reel it in to let other picks have a shot.
The only real surprise to me was Alphonse; he earned this, and I wouldn't be too surprised if Sharena is next.
Those other picks have already being pick as winners in other years also if this was Engage sweep would you be saying the same ?

Also I feel like there must have been a rally of some sorts to vote for Alphonse. Saw a RUclips comment post for a few months to vote for him on most feh videos I watched.

Im happy that alfonse won, and female robin, but a little upset that three houses is still a thing in cyl, even after dimitri,edelgard,and claude one cyl once already, the three house bias is real..

Game was campy and by the numbers by design from the developers, that’s why it didn’t have as big of an impact as three houses.

i hope that male byleth isn't going to win next year or ever. we already have brave byleth, we don't need the genderbender version of the lords to also win

It is clear the Weeb part of Fire Emblem fans is OK with gimmicky cliche characters all the time instead of characters who actually act like real people.
I mean, seems like a few thousand people beg to differ it seems. She’s sort of cliche, but she’s not as bad as you’re making her out to be. But to each their own I suppose.
