    Just subscribed in the last few weeks. Great videos for a rookie officer looking to expand medical knowledge. Would love a video talking about where to find quality supply companies that aren’t gonna sell you knockoffs but are also super affordable.

      So it is a shameless self plug but I have an affiliate link for Skinny Medics store and it gives you 10% off on all the products on his page (there are a lot) and gives me a small kick back. Link is in the description of this video...

    Very nice vid! Gag reflex however DOES play a role when putting in a Wendl-Tubus/NPA when the patient is still conscious - watch out for that.

    Head Trauma
    Types of shock
    Heart Rhythms
    Pediatric care
    More on heart failure and what it means as an EMT

    After reviewing my state and local protocols there is nothing that allow EMT's or Paramedics to allow the use of agents like the Israeli bandage and cellox. We can use the vent seals but due to cost they are not seen in the field.

      John Newburn what are you supposed to stop bleeding with?

    • @pmedic523
      @pmedic523 5 лет назад

      We dont have any hemostatic agents in our protocols either. Then again I live in CA where EMS is even farther behind the rest of EMS in the country. So you can imagine how far behind we are haha.

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  5 лет назад +1

      The Israeli bandage is just a trauma wrap not a hemostatic agent like the cellox. If you aren't packing wounds yet you should address that.

    Just found your site (which is great by the way) One question, when the pack is expanded would a TQ fit inside the internal bag? It would be nice to be able to have a 2nd TQ inside the bag for times it necessary to toss it to a buddy/patient to provide self-care in situation your not able to reach them or provide direct support .

    Great video! I have a question about tourniquets, you put a tourniquet above the wound even in case of a venous bleeding or should you put it below? for example if an injury affect both the artery and the vein if you regularly put a tourniquet high and tight or 2 to 3 inches above the wound the vein will continue to bleed?

    • @JoeDurobot
      @JoeDurobot 5 лет назад +3

      *A tourniquet will cut all blood flow.*
      *It needs to be proximal to the wound otherwise it's useless.*

      @@JoeDurobot I know and that is very sad, in Italy they are beginning to do stop the bleed courses but they are very rare and at most basic first aid classes they still teach to use "arterial pressure points" and they can even work but never as effective as a tourniquet, now I have inquiring as long as possible and I'm buying tourniquets and combat gauze, I hope that b con will be soon diffused as blsd (cpr,aed)
