I do love cleverlys , I live in Runcorn whi h is three quarters of an hour in the car to Cleveleys from where I live , when we come up we always got meat from the Scottish butcher it is always good and reasonable priced, I think its a good idea to close off the road at the moment making it easier for people having to queue, one of my favourite past times is to sit outside and have a coffee and just relax so its nice to see you can do that again, thank you
Thanks for sharing this I've not been in the area for over 40 years worked as a chef on the prom in a hotel, used to take a wander down the high street in my break my god the changes down the high street, was good to watch. Kind regards Paul from London
Excellent video Jane! I’ve been visiting Cleveleys from Stirling, Scotland since we were kids! We have stayed at Alexandra Hotel and Ashford House (formerly across from Olympia on the corner) and also St Martin Holiday Flats on the main esplanade. Lovely wee place, and spent many a great summer holiday here with our folks who are now sadly departed! We bring our 8 year old boy, and he loves the place too!!.....keep up the good work Jane! 😁
Thanks for letting us know of the plans afoot. I try to come to shop by bike as parking is so difficult and have not used buse since March. If so the cafes put tables out won't we back with the congestion problem?
There's plenty of space at Derby Road car park in Cleveleys. It's pay and display but it's not expensive. The cafes will be limited in the space they can occupy, and they'll have barriers round them too, so there will still be much more space for people than there is now.
Cleveleys is nice place and as you said. It gets a lot of traffic so it should be traffic free all the time like in front of the tower should be no cars
Has this happened yet? We arrive on Saturday and are staying at Garlands on the front. We usually drive straight down, are there diversions in place to tell us which way to go?
i o to cleveleys about 6 times a year i have never seen so many charity shops mind you its good realy you can get some good bargains.and there is a lot of cafes what sell real english food ,no fish and chips or burgers .
Another lovely video Jane , thank you . Where are you from originally as I can understand you perfectly but my American hubby has to listen carefully 😃
Can I just say that Simon who now owns Rogersons family butchers not Scottish Meat Market was never an employee of the last owner. He was an employee of the previous owner Mark Scott and left before it was taken over. I doubt he will be happy being affiliated with the last owner as he’s old school and will only sell decent quality meat to his customers in a clean shop. I’m sure people of Cleveleys will know what I mean by that.
We were there earlier this week, unfortunately unlike Blackpool where the disabled driver's can park free for 3 hours then pay for further parking. In Cleveleys Disabled drivers can only park for three hours and then have to move their car's, which remembering if you are disabled everything you do takes longer and therefore does not really allow time for you shopping and having a meal to eat and maybe even a walk/push briefly along the prom. Why are the council/planer's surprised that visitors are not spending enough money in the town for businesses to survive. Unlike your statement about dropping off the disabled (10.15), some of us, Jane are actually the drivers. Motability leases 600,000 cars (not counting thousands of non Motability disabled driver's/cars), why not take advantage and try to attract them with better disabled parking facilities, and give us time to spend our money in your lovely town and help keep your businesses afloat like the wonderful "Forsythes", which has sadly departed Cleveleys and now only exists in Lytham.
Wow! great information I wish I was strolling along the street there so many shops and then the sea front I miss my hometown ....I live rural but near the sea and the area is so quiet lovely however but I do miss.the hustle and bustle and of course the shops .....weather down there is a bit like ours at the moment which is South West Scotland at least for the moment it is not raining unlike yesterday when it was like a monsoon.
Looks pretty busy , are people not talking this pandemic seriously down there ? Very few people wearing masks tables not distanced properly in the outside eating areas of cafes and looks like staff again no masks , the difference up here in Jockland is remarkable

Great informative video thx for sharing
Looks good 👍
I love a good visit to Cleveleys such a peaceful town I've even popped in the music shop in Thornton
Which music shop, Thomas?
@@JohnHughes2002 oh theres one in a village there I cant remember the road name that it's on
@@JohnHughes2002 it only sells a limited musical instruments I went in for a piano accordion bag and that was the only shop open
Not been to Clevelys before when visiting Blackpool, i think we will jump on the Tram and come and have a look round.
Highly recommended, you’ll like it!
The plans you talk about block access to ev charge points which will leave you with just one in town
Do you know that Scottish meat market my dad took over that shop
Fab, good luck to him!

I live in cleveleys and is a nice little town
I think it needs to be more than temporary, the present lay out doesn’t do it for me
Cleveleys is nice place and as you said. It gets a lot of traffic so it should be traffic free all the time like in front of the tower should be no cars
I've had a genius idea - why not make the pavement narrower on the wider side and wider on the narrower side?
Hi everyone I'm working through the videos I missed. Hope all well
Thank you for your video very interesting 😊 sounds good

No not yet - the paperwork is still going through...
@@visitfyldecoast Thank you!
I love Cleveleys x
Wondered about the electric car bays?
They’ll be held over until a decision is made about whether it’s permanent pedestrianisation
Visit Fylde Coast not sure what “held Over” means - plain English please.
@@jimheslehurst4382 not in use!
Hi there when you go back to Cleveleys will you be able to show me inside the cake shop I think I asked u before Christmas thanks
Not sure which one you mean, but once covid starts to settle I'll certainly try.
@@visitfyldecoast Hi there just got the text message about the cake shop it is ok

Oh yes we do have fish and chips, and mighty fine ones too!! 😉

It’s a South Yorkshire accent, polished off with a bit of Lancashire!
Has the chap from the Scottish Meat Market moved on or has he re developed? I have spoken to him a few times.
I think the guy who's reopened it was one of the staff and bought it from the previous owner.
And it says Rogerson family butchers now

I know what you mean by that! Thanks for correcting my mistake Sharon.
Scottish Meat Market? No it’s Rogerson’s Family Butchers! is their huge sign not big enough?
it was called the Scottish butchers until a few weeks ago
john macleod The Scottish Meat Market and it closed months ago!
Cant see my message on here

There are lots of disabled spaces and on street places where disabled drivers can park 👍
Sadly Cleveleys is definitely not the town it use to be, the decent shops have gone.andto many charity shops
Not just Cleveleys is it though. A lot of decent shops don’t exist any longer, never mind having branches in Cleveleys

It's been very wet here too!
