I'm sorry Vaughn, I. can't believe your generousness in explaining the pulling process...thank you so very much. You obviously are content in what you do and it seems to me that money didn't corrupt you in all your success - awesome!
What a detailed and patient explanation. As always a masterful explanation of how to make different bowls. Thank you for the generosity of sharing all of these different ways. I spent last week at my mother’s side until she passed Friday and your soothing voice and demeanor are very comforting, thank you for that too. I will attempt to make her urn. 🙏🏼💔
@@conniemezzo9370 Passed last night peacefully in hospital with my sister by her side. The hospital is in Covid lockdown so only my sister was allowed and she is now coughing. Rough time for the world. UPS brought your gift, thank you very much. I will show it in a future video.
@@Vsmithpots My condolences Vaughan on the loss of your beloved Mom. It's so sad when you lose anyone, but a parent is always especially heart breaking. I’m so grateful to have found your channel. I love the tour of the studio views as well. The cold and icy river is intriguing. I love learning little tips and tricks from you.
Perfect timing, thanks for the inspiration. My friends and I have been asked to make bowls for the Empty Bowls event, a fundraising activity for our local Food Bank in Fresno, California. Seeing your different styles is a help.
I have learned, and continue to learn, from your kind and carefully done videos. I have a question about the release of the bowls that you did not wire off right after throwing. How does that happen and did the bat have a special surface? Thanks for your time and answer.
Hi Sir. It always look so effortless when i watch those potters pull the clay wall. My issue is pushing the clay wall up...The clay seems quite firm to be pressed and lifted. Another issue I encountered was the uneven side of the wall or the wall being thin-thick. Can you explain how soft or how firm of the clay is better for throwing on wheel? Lastly, the inside finger should exert any pressure and outside finger positioning at 45 degrees or slightly slanted? Sorry for my multi questions but thank you. :-)
It is so hard to explain in words. Just make sure the clay is an even consistency throughout and fully wedged if recycled. Watch my beginning throwing videos.
I see you have 2 bird feeders out on your deck. Can you show us how to make the one that looks like a house? I hope Jackie will demonstrate her decoration technique sometime. Thanks much!!
@@Vsmithpots I think I must have mistook what I saw. At 36:33 into you video what is the hanging object? is it a bird house, feeder or something else? You have really reinspire my creativity again and have learned so much since I got hooked on your videos.
@@Vsmithpots That's a nice looking bird feeder. It has a lighthouse feel to it. Where do you find the time to teach! Does the top come off to put the feed in? How does he attached it back on if it's detachable?
I do miss them both at the studio, it is like my hospice care facility for my geriatric cats. We have 6 more at the house and we have found that the older cats become picked on by younger cats. So when they get frailer with age it is nice to give them a safe space in the studio for their retirement. It is sad because I know they will not last long at the studio, but they get much more attention from us. Morandi was 15 and Pubelle 10 when they passed. Pubelle had been sick her whole life but managed to have a good one. She was born in a toxic waste dump in New York State. I now have a 14 year old at the house who is holding his own against the younger upstarts, he sleeps right next to them, so he has found the right chemistry with them. Stay safe in this wild world.
I have learned so much from you! Totally not kidding, my all time favorite pottery channel! Thank you so much for posting and constantly teaching!!
You are welcome, it is fun passing on the knowledge.

I really love the split view where we can see the top and lateral view- these videos are always improving.
Thank you.
I feel like I take away something new every time I watch your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your talent :)
That is a good thing. Now we need a book of magic moments in pottery to short cut the learning curve. Thanks.
Good video, such a good teacher. I keep throwing same style, need to challenge out LOL

I did one of those events and made them 127 bowls raising $5500 for the fire dept. Then Covid hit so have not done it again.

window insulation tape.
