Very helpful for me - this will be my first use of my walking foot and stitching in the ditch - I'm a lot more comfortable in trying after watching your video - THANKS!
Great video and I love this channel because I am a brand new quilter and I feel like this is a no judgement zone. I am learning and making lots of mistakes as I go, but you give such wonderful tips and tricks and make laugh, which I need! Thank you again!
You taught me something new! Thank you so much! I didn't know I was supposed to stitch in the ditch on the lowest side. If I wasn't listening close enough, I would have missed that tidbit!
thank you so much, it was so very informative and I love the way you looked so relaxed doing it and talking in layman talk so everyone could understand very easily. beautiful quilt behind you!!
Thanks for posting this video. I found it very helpful in explaining the stitching in the ditch method. I am not a quilter, but need to do it for a sewing project and the pattern directions are horrendous! It may be helpful to see a close-up of the actual machine stitching but all in all it was what I needed :)
I liked your demo. One thing for your suggestion about using the walking foot to make straight lines. There is a gadget called an "edge/quilter guide" and I see You can use them in the foot. Mine has the hole in the back that you put the guide thru and it is adjustable for help in quilting straight lines.
Totally love you and your videos! I also love that you are a tiny bit bonkers. I am totally in love with the quilt behind you, and wondered if you could let me know where to get the pattern?
Hello! The block on the table is a finished, quilted block with stitch in the ditch. Check it out at the 6:00 minute mark; a great shot at 6:10. Stitch in the ditch is sometimes hard to see because it's right in the seams lines. Thanks for watching Quilty, ladies. :) mary
I just finished my very 1st quilt, which happened to be a queen size...yes, I'm a wee bit ambitious. ;-) I wanted to be able to say "I made every aspect of this quilt, so quilted in the ditch on my domestic machine. Did I mention it was a fence rail? Never again will I try to quilt such a large quilt on a home sewing machine...took me FOR-EV-ER! I did quilt in the ditch a table runner right after though - MUCH easier.
I loved the video, but as Debbie said 3 wks ago, I would have liked to see the back also. Is hand stitching (quilting) easier following those same lines, for a beginner?
Thanks for addressing the subject. However, the camera closeups aren't when you're stitching, and that is what we clicked on this to see. The closeups are when you're attaching the walking foot. The 'finished quilt square' you said you were going to show never materialized. Lastly, the camera work when you're showing a specific technique is pretty shaky and difficult to follow. Again, I thank you for putting the video together, I know it's a lot of work. It just missed the mark for me.
I'm trying to stitch in the ditch my very first patchwork baby quilt. But my machine keeps skipping stitches! What do I do? I've adjusted the tension and stitch length settings all the way down and back up and I still keep skipping stitches. I also changed the needle and rethreaded the machine from the top and put in a new bobbin. I'm skipping at least 1-3 stitches per test row. HELP! -Rachael
Rachael Wilson Have you replaced your needle? If it's bent (which happens commonly when you're stitching through more layers than normal), your bobbin housing will have trouble catching every stitch.
I wish when you said you were gong to show the finished block you really did. Instead you skipped right to don't loose the pieces of your machine (which is an important reminder).
so much hate! I PROMISE if this were a man in the video you wouldn't have half these comments like "talks too much" "irritating" "impossible" annoying." shame on y'all.
It's not hate! It's Truth! She talked more than she showed her project and we never saw her completed work. Think twice before you shame people. It may go back on you. You reap what you sow!

Mary, I’m pleased that this video lesson is still available. I occasionally need a “refresher” when I’m using the various feet. M🍀 (senior citizen)🙀

Did you really say Mr Screwdriver? love it!

Great video.

Thank you so much, best teacher
Babylock has a NEW screwdriver with the Ellisimo. It's really easy to use. Great tool!!
Thank you for the video- it was very helpful

I wish she had showed what the stitch in the ditch looked liked finished. Can you see the stitches on the quilt top?
+Constance Peterson I agree!
Would have been nice to SEE what you did instead of talking about it
I wanted to see the back of the finished sample piece 😭😭😭 did i miss it🥺?
As my English is far from perfect (I am French speaking!) do you stick "in the ditch " or just just beside the ditch?? Thanks for your help.
Wanted to really see the back of the finished block you pulled out. :(
PS: See you & Marianne at Sharonville, (Cincinnati), OH this weekend! (6/15/13)
How do I thread my singer one with walking foot on?

Stitch length?

could not follow what she was doing. camera work is bad.
Would of liked to have seen more of the stitch in the ditch and less talking
exactly
she talks too much. edit edit
What's with all this talk ? Where is the tutorial ?
too much talky about your machine, get on with the stitching part. this is why people click to watch your video, not you rambling about other stuff.
quiksilvababe stop being rude
