I definitely preferred the 11mm. Zoom is cool but for vlogging, i find its about bringing the subject to me and since im capturing in so many different environments.
The f1.8 aperture helps me not worry about having noisy video.
Plua the little bit of background blur looks cool

Congrats on the new setup! The bigger battery alone is worth it! I actually have both those lenses too and I kept both for the exact reasons you mentioned! But if I had to keep one, I think I might go with the 11mm because I prefer the f/1.8 look for that bit of depth/separation (same for photos). But honestly, you can't go wrong with either as they both look in this video!
Oh BTW, you can use the 11mm lens on a full frame Sony camera, there's a bit of vignetting but it goes away with the dynamic stabilization in the newer cameras so that's one thing to take into consideration if you ever decide to upgrade to FF in the future.

thank you for the video! both cameras are on sale right now and I was originally gonna get the zv1 bc I wanted a basic point and shoot (and idk much about lenses! it’s kinda intimidating!) but I loved how the quality upgraded with the ev10. I liked the lens comparison too! I loved the 11mm one you used!
Omg if the ZV E10 is on sale def get that bc you can change the lenses, the sensor is much better, and the battery life is like 3x as good!!

I went with the 11mm and kept the kit lens. To me, I don't notice the difference in the quality with anything above an F/2.8 and you might as well use a cellphone, GoPro or stick with your ZV-1. Another advantage of the F/1.8 is that it blurs the background enough to create a cinematic look as well as to hide things like license plate numbers, addresses, or even faces that may inadvertently end up in your background. I also ended up getting a 35mm F/1.8 Sony lens for B-roll from MPB used and it's great. I really want the Sigma 16mm F/1.4 for "talking head" shots. Another lens you might consider is the Sigma 18-50 F/2.8 but that's almost $600 for the same thing (but a little better) than the kit lens.

Test out both lenses with your back to the light source. I think that would be a more practical use case for low light with the type of vlogs you do. Love your enthusiasm and energy! You vlogs brighten my day.❤

Great video and congratulations on your purchase! I’ve owned the zve10 for two years now and I absolutely love it. This is the first time I’ve watched your channel so I’m unsure which lens will be better for you and what you do. However, I think as you grow as a content creator having a solid prime lens like the 11mm 1.4 will give you so much flexibility as you grow. With steadyshot I feel is the perfect size for a vlog lens. As your content grows you might find yourself wanting to do more content in darker areas or during other times of the day. You can get the blurry background to isolate yourself from the other items in the background. And I feel the quality of the picture is slightly better because it brings in so much more light. I get the 10-20PZ is extremely versatile, but if you plan to use your kit lens you can always use that for zooming. And while the kit lens aperture is average of the 10-20mm (3.5-5.6) whenever you need more light for any situation you have your 11mm. I have the 11mm and I absolutely love it. Good luck!!

I actually just bought a new camera too! I was looking at getting the ZV-1 but during my research I found out about the ZV-1F which is like $200 cheaper and has a wider angle lens (no need for the sticker). I barely got it and I’ve only filmed 1 video on it so far but it’s definitely an upgrade from my iPhone! The quality is wayyy better and the small size is perfect for a hobbyist vlogger like me ♥️ loved watching you test out your cameras, I eventually want to upgrade to a mirrorless camera like the ZV-E10!!

It's a great vlogging camera. I'm still loving my 1st generation ZV-1 and intend to use it until it breaks before I get another Sony vlogging cam. You'll never go wrong with a Sony in contemporary shooting modes 😊

I use the Sony A6600 and love it for family & travel. It's lightweight compared to the full frame camera. APSC quality is much more than enough for me. If minus the sensor size advantage (1 inch vs APSC), do you have a specific reason for not upgrading the ZV-1 to the new ZV-1 Mark II?

The Sony zv 1 mark 3 has a wider lens! I would start with that honestly if it’s your first camera ❤️
def keep the 11mm 1.8, with active steady shot it'll be a nice 14mm ultrawide lens with better low light performance cuz of that fast aperature f1.8

Okay hi checking in as both a professional video girlie and fan of your vlogs- my vote is keep the 10-20mm/f 4.0 lens! The 11mm/f 1.8 lens would be really great for low light like you mentioned and also for sit down videos because it would help you to get really nice bokeh (think professional interview background that’s blurry in a soft way). But for the purpose of your vlogs I think f 4.0 is totally fine! And having the versatility of the zoom lens will definitely be more practical for vlogging. Also I believe G is Sony’s professional level lens- generally they’ll have a higher build quality and nicer quality glass which is why they’re so pricey.
Anyway this is already a lot so I’ll stop HAHAH but feel free to reach out if you have questions/need a sounding board! Always happy to geek out over camera gear lol 😇

Did you remove the soft skin filter? having it on seems to remove some of the sharpness so it's worth keeping note of.

Hello!! I love your revieww! I share your excitement and enthusiasm for the sony zve10. I know you mention a lot about low light and zoom capabilities but have you considered the Tamron 11-20 2.8 for Sony APSC Emount? What I love about the sony ecosystem when compared to canon, nikon and fujifilm is sony HUGE selection of lenses from third party such as sigma and tamron! I LOVE the Tamron 11-20 2.8 and use their other lenses too since all of them are super sharper, generally cheaper and all have the same filter threads. So I just have to buy one filter that fits all my lens. Also, because the Tamron 11-20mm is 2.8, I actually had better autofocusing at night when compared to the 10-20mm f4! I would say thats my favorite lens for my client work. Love your channel!
The tamron was a little too big for my personal preference when doing research 🥹 but I see a lot of people enjoy it. I actually kept the 11mm f1.8 for the low light and bokeh, and I don’t regret it at all🤩

I bought the Sony zve10 (hasn't arrived yet, but I didn't get the kit lens. The one lense I have is the
Sigma 16mm f/1.4 (E-Mount) as I do a lot of sit-down/gaming videos most of the time, but I would like to venture into more vlog style videos so I think in this case, I'm going to go with the Sony 11mm f1.8 lens as well :) Nice video :)

I would go with the 11mm. It looks sharper, less expensive, lets in more light + a blurrier/more "cinematic" background bc it's an f/1.8. 13:31 is a good example. Also, you should start shooting in 4K. 4K looks wayyy better on the ZV-E10 vs 1080p.

@@JennaHong No problem, also if you want a "best of both worlds" lens. Check out the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8. It's as if the two lenses you have had a baby. It is bigger than those two lenses though.

I would say ZVE10 since it’s not full frame and more affordable, the photos are amazing on it and good to start out with something easier!
The ZVE10 is also newer! The a7ii is old

@@JennaHong looking back I say keep the 11mm because of the quality of that lens is perfection plus you have the kit lens which can be used as the b roll / zoom and the quality is still there. The 10-20 looks like it’s filmed off an iPhone the zoom isn’t worth it especially since you got the camera to upgrade your video quality 🫶🏽

I just got one & Like it so far, watched several videos about The E-10 The only feature that i think is Dumb & people keep taking about is the
Blurred background, WHY Blur out the background? it just makes the Pictures Look Worse.
