Well-done series of three. The quality is first-rate, and the beautiful scenery brings back so many fond memories of my visits to the UK !

That brought back old memories of Haymarket, Wansbeck Road and Fawdon stations during the Autumn/Winter of 1982, my first days working in industry.

When I was a teenager we lived in Ponteland. Mum would drive us down to what was then called Kenton Bank Foot and it was the end of metro. The line continued through a very tatty old fashioned level crossing gate on to Callerton ICI depot. About once a week a train with tanks would travel that bit of the line. The track bed continued up to Ponteland (where the shopping centre is now) and the branch to Darras Hall. The old NER wooden building at Darras Hall was still there and used as a church.
I always considered it would be great if they continued the line back to Ponteland and have a station and park and ride there. But of course politics. Ponteland is Northumberland. The airport was Tyne and Wear and it was the T & W Metro. Of course without a lot of Northumberland county funding it was going end at the border and that would sensibly be the airport. So Callerton got its station back but Ponteland never did.

Politics and funding even affect the line back in the NER days. The NER electrified the coastal route with the third rail. But not the Ponteland branch. You had to change at Gosforth to catch a push/pull steam service. Ponteland lost passenger service before WW2

I'm curious as to how the view looks so clear, usually the actual metros are hacky as owt
