Most underrated guitarist of my lifetime in my opinion… Scotty LePage… the OTHER Polyphia guitarist lol Yes Tim is the main songwriter, creator, pioneer but Scotty man. His tastefulness in his solos and creativity within their sound is really incredible and even though I’m a drummer and love their whole band, Scott has stood out for me completely. I can always tell his playing apart from anyone’s and his solo at the end of Bloodbath is the Solo of the year for 2023 imo 🔥

It is about how you play it mostly, there are very few bad notes but many you might pass over quickly.

It was almost like a lottery! If they haven't already, they should introduce a similar list of the best songwriters. Think John Lennon #66, George Harrison #11, Joey Tempest #4. That would make a few people a little upset, wouldn't it? Lol

The women of heart should have been on there somewhere, maybe instead of Joan Jett, and then some people high on these lists are just arbitrary if you ask me,
not because of their stand out talent but more because they where in icon bands that where great or innovative in their time but personally I don't feel some of them at all.
( Jimmy Hendrix in particular but I don't remember the Beatles for their amazing guitar solo's, nor the stones.) its always a popularity contest with these lists, same old same old names.
And some brilliantly talented guitarists where left out completely but that's just personal taste I guess.

I find Jimi Hendrix extremely overrated. His playing was very sloppy and while he was an innovator of a certain guitar style that many people imitate today I personally enjoy the Black Sabbath style more of guitarists from that time. Also, when comparing how clean people play as well as the incredible amount of techniques that people use today, it is insane how much better players are today than in the past. I don't understand how people can say that Jimi Hendrix sounds better than something like the solo from Avenged Sevenfold, "Nobody" Or anything by Guthrie Govan or Andy Timmons. If you're actually going to be honest too, all of these guitarists are just kissing butt because they know everyone else would attack them if they have any other opinion.
Kerry king is my favourite guitarist but I can't say he's better than slash
