I use Crayola Washable markers for marking my shibori pieces. So far, I haven't seen any staining. I'll have to try just washing it like you did.

Could you add salt or vinegar to make them permanent?
Im not sure, I enjoy using them because they are not permanent. You could experiment and see if salt or vinegar make them permanent, even ironing may help make them permanent. Let me know how your experiments go!

Thank you for this because Dritz MarkBGone is just too faint sometimes
I find that the black marker is great on denim too! Because it can be a funny in between where a white pen is too light, and a frixon pen is too fine
