I love the non-overly produced stuff, it adds to that feel of "friends playing together" that a lot of people really enjoy, it's more about the banter than anything else for me.
i love the way beard bros feels now more than i did before. never an issue with background noise, but whenever i do hear something i always find the acknowledgement of it really fun!!
I think the "outside" noises let people know that.... SBB is super real. It's 3 guys in a residential room trying to make a show despite having 10 years of credentials. You do a great job of keeping up the commentary and humor despite the fact that you probably hear 20x the amount of noise that the mic picks up. The dog in the room, I could do without. I prefer the traffic/ people talking outside infinitely over "can't make too much noise or someone's weird dad is gonna be upset"
Question of the day: I actually enjoy it, makes this feel like hanging out with you guys. Also the occasional la cucaracha horn that happens generally during serious conversations is absolutely hilarious.
as long as i can understand what you guys are saying and can hear the game i dont care abt the background sound, im here for the "gaming w homies on the couch" vibes and that tends to be lost once things start getting higher production values
I think the subtle environmental background noises add to the vibe. The ambience. Makes it feel a little less “professional” but that’s kinda the whole bit with the new era of Beard Bros. I personally think it gives a “we’re all hanging out” kind of vibe which feels more personal and relatable. I feel like I’m chillin in Alex’s living room with you guys.
I listen to you guys on a 5.1 surround sound system. And I heard the birds chirping before any machinery noise. Right now I'm high and watching this video late at night. So it's really fucking my mind hearing morning chips.
I love all the little background sounds that bleed through. I started watching because it felt like I was sitting on the couch with friends; so it brings an odd comfort personally.
For the audio stuff, it can sometimes be a little distracting but never too much that I stop listening. But it also lends a sense of 'genuine feel' to this era of Beard Bros - It's kind of like the difference between Tape Recording & CD recording; that moment of 'static, filled silence' you got at the start and end of tapes - it 'added' to the overall experience.
The sounds definitely feel like additional charm for the recordings. These specific ones feel like asphalt-laying stuff. But since they are minimum volume(i bet thanks to y'all additional work) they just feel like cool ambiance in game
I'm 100% with Ted on the soup/coffee thing - it's not how we talk about ANYTHING else, like, if you say "the A/C is on" you're *preparing* someone for the change that happens in the next few minutes, or like if it's cold out and you have a diesel vehicle you might be like "the car's on" to let someone know the engine is warming up and it'll be ready in twenty minutes. But like, why say something "is on" if it's already done? Say it's done, say "soup's done" or "soup's ready", telling someone it's "on" really just sounds like it's in the process and it'll be ready at some point soon.
Alex’s Legends of the Hidden Temple idea is like my Price is Right idea. When a contestant gets called down, there’s a mascot that chases them and if they get caught before they reach the podiums they don’t get to play.
QOTD: YES!!! I LOVE hearing little background stuff! It makes it feel real! And its funny sometimes to hear stuff youre reacting to in the background. I always prefer it over the super produced sound.
When Brett shifted the conversation to food poverty (deserts), my ears perked up because it's sooooo easy to say there are better options available when they often aren't for the people choosing the worse options. While Alex may not have meant to be dismissive, his response is textbook for someone who could not care less about the situation 🤷🏾♂️
Idk that it was necessarily that from the way i interpretted it. I think the mark he was trying to hit was what i guess you could call "seen poverty", in the sense its the kind of poverty you can kind of imagine. In some cases it is actually cheaper to buy ingredients and batch cook, and itd be overall healthier. But the kind of poverty Brett touched on, is the kind alot of folk who have never even seen it dont ever wanna think about, which i guess would come off as unintentionally dismissive. Its a very tricky issue indeed thats alot more complex than just "buy different shit", just like brett pointed out
@@Thorrisonagreed, considering that these two are know for going down the rabbit hole any other time. Maybe Alex just wasn't feeling it, but still, better ways to park the conversation.
@@KabaladamawomaspAlex definitely pointed out that he wasn't taken that direction with the conversation. That's all well and good, but how he killed the discussion even had Brett at a loss for words.
Yeah, as somebody who lives in one of those areas with barely any resources or decent food choices and can't drive to access better options, I actually stopped the video in shock. Gotta love popping into one of the only decent LP channels left and hearing such callous dismissal of a genuinely traumatizing situation for me. Privileged clownass.
I got 42 kukri. I heard birds a few times over the last maybe week of Beard Bros eps. I like them birds, Smitty's claws tapping along the floor is fine stuff too.
Would love to see an extended one-off or series of all 3 bros playing Space Marine 2. Ted did a good job in the Starship Troopers commentary ad back in the dizzy; with Alex and Brett's natural bombast and Ted's own acting ability, it would be such a fun watch.
Honestly, I watch so many RUclipsrs who have so much noise make it through because they're just recording in a house, not a studio, that I don't notice until someone says "sorry about the helicopter circling overhead, I think they're doing a manhunt or something". I always liked Beard Bros in the old days because it was a lot more casual feeling than some LP channels. There's a lot more just general shit-talk going on while you play the game, instead of always just talking about the game. You guys are the millennial stoner theater kids I wish I'd been (I kind of turned my nose up at theater when I was in high school, but I _wish_ I'd done something even half as creative). What I'm saying is, I watch Beard Bros for _you_ guys. A lets play series can be totally ruined by BAD production and quality, but once you hit a good enough threshold, the viewer stops noticing, I think. It's all about the talent at that point. I think without Ted to man the machines, you guys might have been in a bit of trouble, so I'm glad you got him in the divorce. I bet he does so much shit. you don't even know needs to be done.
In response to GUTS. I actually enjoyed it as a kid, I think it reminded me of like American Gladiators but for kids. I enjoyed it, didn't love it, didn't look forward to it, but if I was watching Nick and it came on I would watch.
The only part of Guts I watched or cared about as a kid was the Aggro Crag. I always wished I could try going up it as well as running through the final temple challenge on Legends of the Hidden Temple.
QOTD: Whether it's construction outside of where you record or your dog popping off in the room, I feel the noise is a part of the SBB aesthetic. You guys are doing the thing and having fun regardless, we're just here for the ride.
I liked Guts enough. It was just fine, much the same way as I feel about sports now. Take it or leave it, you know? The audio issues are negligible. I doubt they have any significant effect.
Alex is right about processed food and corn products. Stay in the deli, butcher, and produce sections, stay away from bread and sugars. Eat lots of fruit and meat and just make sure you walk on the reg.
yes loved Guts as a kid. Legend of the Hidden Temple is great too and I prefer it for all of those 90's live action shows. Guts was fun just to see how people did and if they just had a kid that would demolish the astro craig. Nick Arcade was wonderful, always wanted to be on that show and agree with Alex, clearly some of the contestants never played a game before but it was fun to watch. Double Dare was cool too. All my childhood.
Speaking about Legends of The Hidden Temple, one of my favorite shows as a pre-teen/teen (by the time it finished in 1995), they attempted a revival right before or just as Nexstar acquired The CW Network (which they've utterly gutted) hosted by female stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo, but unfortunately it wasn't that great and only lasted a singular season run. I watched it all in hope it'd be great but wasn't to be. One primary reason I felt it didn't work was because they staged it outdoors, and something about sunlight just doesn't mesh with showcasing The Temple. I will say it was neat that OG Host Kirk Fogg made a few appearances which was cool to see him after decades had passed from the Nickelodeon days, and as far as Olmec I think famed V.O. Actor Dee Bradley Baker reprised that role but may be mistaken. Funny to think that Klaus on American Dad was Olmec 1993 - 1995.
QOTD 1 - Personally Beard Bros has been better than ever for me. My cat was particularly into today's episode with what sounded like bird noises in the background but that was unusual and also a positive. QOTD 2 - I loved Nickelodeon Guts. I think I enjoyed imagining what it would be like to be a contestent and I had the ridiculous confidence of a child so I think I probably just assumed I would win the Aggro Crag and everything lol
I fuckin LOVED G.U.T.S. I wanted to be on it. I thought about how I'd compete against the other kids. I loved obstacle courses and challenges... reminded me of summer camp type shit. I liked legends of the hidden temple as a show a bit more but didn't want to compete because the temple guards scared me :( haha I was actually re-watching some episodes of both (probably about the time when you were recording this one) and it was super nostalgic and fun. I gotta find some Double Dare and other classics... been doin price is right and 80s-90s cartoons a lot recently.
I'm almost certain the expression is "soup's up!" And it just means food, any food, is ready... "Coffee's on" just means that coffee is brewing, I believe...
I love the non-overly produced stuff, it adds to that feel of "friends playing together" that a lot of people really enjoy, it's more about the banter than anything else for me.
It made me so happy to hear the lobster music.
i love the way beard bros feels now more than i did before. never an issue with background noise, but whenever i do hear something i always find the acknowledgement of it really fun!!

The music Ted chooses whenever fighting any crustacean in this series has been absolutely golden. Have the boys ever acknowledged his triumph?
as long as i can understand what you guys are saying and can hear the game i dont care abt the background sound, im here for the "gaming w homies on the couch" vibes and that tends to be lost once things start getting higher production values
the new audio ads to the bros personality makes it real even more like chillen on the couch with you guys
I think the subtle environmental background noises add to the vibe. The ambience. Makes it feel a little less “professional” but that’s kinda the whole bit with the new era of Beard Bros. I watched Guts because as a little kid, I wanted to climb the Aggrocrag. It felt like kid Olympics.
It's definitely captured. But at the same time it's more of the vibe. Feels more like hanging out with your buds having a good time. I dig it
I'm 100% with Ted on the soup/coffee thing - it's not how we talk about ANYTHING else, like, if you say "the A/C is on" you're *preparing* someone for the change that happens in the next few minutes, or like if it's cold out and you have a diesel vehicle you might be like "the car's on" to let someone know the engine is warming up and it'll be ready in twenty minutes. Clearest reminder to me that Alex and Brett are west coast
only other time would be when a challenge is issued: "oh, it's on!"
oh fuck, it's sup, as in supper. not soup. on the table... supper is on the table.
Yeah for me, "soup's on" means it is currently cooking on the stovetop
Alex’s Legends of the Hidden Temple idea is like my Price is Right idea. When a contestant gets called down, there’s a mascot that chases them and if they get caught before they reach the podiums they don’t get to play.
QOTD: The extra noise is a negative but it is worth putting up with for you three.
This specific song for the lobster music is the best one so far. Its too fuckin funny while brett is stressin
QOTD: YES!!! I LOVE hearing little background stuff! It makes it feel real! And its funny sometimes to hear stuff youre reacting to in the background. I always prefer it over the super produced sound.
For me, the auditory relics of your current situation add character.
That being said, I also like when they are acknowledged.
The noise, whether or not I would notice it without your pointing it out, is at the very least interesting as an era marker.
When Brett shifted the conversation to food poverty (deserts), my ears perked up because it's sooooo easy to say there are better options available when they often aren't for the people choosing the worse options. Yeah, Alex had a real weird tone there, especially the "running" comment

Guts was a hype show as a kid. It was like a sports show for kids. Also, I had a crush on Mo.
Only thing I ever liked about GUTS as a kid was the Aggro Crag. But I LOVED Legends of the Hidden Temple and Double Dare.
I loved Guts more than legends of the hidden temple. It's the kid version of American Gladiators.
GUTS was fun because it was a game show, same as Nick Arcade, Legends of the Hidden Temple, etc. Game shows are fun.
QOTD1: I like the street noises. Theres a sense of... grounding with them that is refreshing when they are picked up. 😊
Also a game recommendation I’d love to see is Brett playing Castlevania: SotN.
That just became my #2 most wanted SBB series (after Brett playing Majora's Mask blind)
16:00 I'd even say castlevania inspired the structure of Dark souls and elden ring maps. Moreso the enemy and treasure placement than anything else
I got 42 kukri. I heard birds a few times over the last maybe week of Beard Bros eps. I like them birds, Smitty's claws tapping along the floor is fine stuff too.

I always forget how big this game is. Those sewers are HUGE!!!
In my family growing up; coffee's on meant that the maker had been turned on
sorting Magic cards and watching the bros. good times.

I don't notice a difference between punk rock Beard Bros and produced Beard Bros. Shout out to Ted, probably?
Bro got John Wicked. You killed his dogs
I still refuse to believe someone with the last name Bayonne isn't originally from Slidell or some other bayou in Louisiana
Alex is right about processed food and corn products. Stay in the deli, butcher, and produce sections, stay away from bread and sugars. Eat lots of fruit and meat and just make sure you walk on the reg.

God this game is HUGE. I don't remember finding that dungeon at all 😅
Honestly, I haven't noticed any difference in the quality of the production
on the topic of Guts! i loved it because it looked like fun, and Mo was like my dream woman as a 12 year old.

I loved the host and the referee and I wanted to be on the show but was preinternet
Seems like for Alex, being poor isnt an excuse for not eating healthy...

I want "the shrine of the shitty gargoyle" dlc
I liked guts for the same reason i liked american gladiators, it seemed dangerous. Does that make sense?
viva la sbb
Woo
he would turn off guts?!? unwatchable
"Soups/coffees on" literally means that things is ready and sitting "on" the heat source to stay hot. So Brett do be right.
