Yeah they really wanted to drive home the fact that a life full of bad actions would lead you to a tragic end. The worst I can think of is one where the antagonist got buried alive for some reasons it haunted me for weeks.
My God, there was a scene where all the girls were in a room with their partners in silence, then Jimena says she needs a tequila; then the most dramatic music EVER starts playing and everyone is doing weird faces

In the telenovela La Dueña there's a scene were Regina (played by Angélica Rivera) after being dump the day of her weeding she gets out of the streets in the Middle of the rain screaming to nobody and pours out mud on her face. Later the actress became Mexico's first lady.

You actually missed a whole ton of other things in this telenovela like the other two friends Tamara and Andrea who have quite a few problems themselves. Manuel and Moncho the twins who reunite and switch places. Nayeli finding out Moncho is her real father. Roxana and Roberto turning out to be half siblings. Ulises becoming hot which causes a lot of hilarious situations. And like a million other things.

The only good thing about the mid 2000's version of "La Madrastra" was the cast. Basically everyone who's everyone in the Televisa realm was casted for that telenovela.
Second, while I've always been a huge Laura Pausini fan (the Italian singer who sang the soundtrack for that telenovela), the theme for that telenovela wasn't her best moment.
"Evil garbage psychopath" has become my default description of so many characters (and people).

Get ready for Mujer de madera (a telenovela in which the lead female heroine gets burnt in the face but gets a totally new one through plastic surgery.... for some reason that surgery also makes her much taller) and Velo de novia, a telenovela in which the script was re written at the middle of the show and all of the cast was dismissed (except for the three leads)... that one has the most sadistic "karmic death" of a female villain in tv history.
But as you watch it, it’s NOT silly at all!!! No way Jose!!! It’s hold-on-to-your-seat exciting non-stop drama at its best!!!!

E.M. L. I remember standing up to my mom for not letting me watch tv, when I was eight and calling her bruja. Now I think it was the melodramatic part of me recreating the same telenovelas that she no longer wanted me to watch. Yet for some reason she had no problem with all the telenovelas that, I had grown up watching or with playing primer impacto each night during dinner. In all honesty, primer impacto was way more traumatizing for a kid than these shit show telenovelas.

@@amystubby she went after Adamari Lopez, I can't remember her name off the top of my head now, to a party or something and they had a car crash . It left Adamari paralyzed or something and they all tought Natalia died because was thrown out of the car and didn't find a body but she lost her memory or something. I was about 6 or 7 at the time I might be making up half of that
I love that 10 episodes before the ending, they change the main actress because she said in the press that her romantic interest smells like cheap whisky
