  • Joji is a reworking of Macbeth and while these words might suggest a period setting, Shakespeare’s tragedy has been reimagined in contemporary times, on a sprawling rubber plantation in Kerala. But Joji, the youngest of three brothers, is very much a subject of his father’s kingdom.

      I had a lot of respect for this woman for her body of work, before she laughed with Karan Johar,when he asked Kangana to leave the film industry,if she finds it nepotistic, instead she should have encountered Karan for such irresponsible and nasty statement.
      It really stuck with me that such a senior film journalist was laughing at such obnoxious statement by an influential film maker.

      People who know Hindi can pronounce Malayalam words better if they read it in Hindi. For eg, the accurate pronunciation for "Thondimuthalum Drikshaakshiyum" is तोंडिमुदलुम दृक्साक्षियुम . Of course this depends on the one writing in Hindi knowing the correct pronunciation.

      @javedmkadir 3 года назад +13

      @@thesolitaryman2498 Sreenivasan was a phenomenal writer and even more special director, though he has only directed 2 movies. But in terms of acting, while he is good, there is nothing extraordinary there. I don't think his name will come up even in a top 10 actors of all time discussion. Fafa, IMO, is right up there among the 2Ms, Gopi, Thilakan and the like in terms of being the best actors ever in Malayalam cinema. We should also add female performers like Urvashi, Shobhana, KPAC Lalitha, Sukumari etc to that list

    • @thesolitaryman2498
      @thesolitaryman2498 3 года назад +11

      @@javedmkadir I've always felt Sreenivasan as an under utilized actor in the Malayalam film industry. I think he got stereotyped in doing a lot of comedy roles in movies but in reality, he has a lot of range and potential. (See his acting in Kalapani). It doesn't always have to be "extraordinary" in such a way that it will become "overacting". Sreenivasan's acting is more of a natural tone than Fahad, who is into more of "method acting". I think it's because, these actors were able to perform during the Golden Age of Malayalam Cinema and so, their acting is as natural as it can get and incorporated a classical style of acting. In those days, almost every actor gave exceptional performances. If you check out older movies, the whole cast would be a brilliant one (That magic is missing nowadays). And many times, I feel Fahad is also being stereotyped into doing lot of eccentric characters and those characters with a psycho angle to it. ( North 24 Kaatham, Carbon, Kumbalangi Nights, Trance). Now coming to actors like 2Ms, Thilakan, Bharat Gopi, Sathyan, etc, they are simply a different league and one shouldn't even compare them to younger actors. That is like comparing Joaquin Phoenix to legendary actors like Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson. The female performers are also a different league and have given some of most nuanced performances on screen.

    • @javedmkadir
      @javedmkadir 3 года назад +3

      @@thesolitaryman2498 Agree mostly and I will never underestimate Sreenivasan acting. However the actors you also say are in a different league, I don't think Sreenivasan was ever considered in that league in any serious way. I am not saying Fafa is in that league yet ( TBF, his career is relatively new). But I do think he will reach that league sooner or later. His trajectory has been amazing and he is already counted as one of the, if not the best young actor in India. I think he is smart enough in his cinematic choices to avoid being stereo typed and very soon we will see him counted among the best actors of all time in India.

    I think the movie is good, but a notch below Dileesh's previous movies. I think tbe focus was a lot on the plot, not much on the inner struggles of the charecter doing the crime. That I suppose is also why Shakespeare's work is still so phenomenal to read today. It is not just the plot, it is the chatrecters guilt, greed and paranoia.
