what mendez did few people know about was developing teaching methods for beginners and advanced students . he traveled through out the US holding trumpet clinics for students and putting on demonstrations and making playing the trumpet look easy. i was taught our of one of his beginner books. his method does not encourge blasting in the ultra high range but to play all ranges as softly or as loadly as the music calls for. playing high notes softly in tune is harder than blasting them
Where have all the great music people gone... why don't we get to hear music like this today on the radio or in Hollywood films or TV? Mucho gracais for loading this onto RUclips for us to see in 2009. Cheers
Hola.
He is unsurpassed technically for the most part, but I really think his tone and sometimes his dynamics are not suited for more classical pieces. Regardless, he is the best mariachi-style player ever. I know that I will be "thumbs-downed" for this but I really think it's true.
Mendez would not have played with an inferior orchestra. Not only was he the best trumpeter of all time, he was a man of sterling character. I got to take a few lessons from him many years ago at a Colorado band camp. $7 each! Along with his professional career, he was dedicated to helping young people.

Compositor: Quirino Mendoza, el nombre de la cancion es Jesusita en Chihuahua o Chuchita en Chihuahua. El mismo compositor de Cielito Lindo.
Everytime I hear a Mendez clip I remember why I play the trumpet. Wow!
Wow! Mr. Menez in his "natural" setting ! Fabulous. Thanks for posting.

jezz wut an awsome intro
omg the note at 0:22 so STRONG!
@varscht Rafael or Clifford... gese man, I could argue with myself for hours over a question like that!
Why can't Hollywood movies feature world class musicians like in the old days?
super y es mexicano! (o era, no lo sé)
wow
Arguably, the best trumpeter, but not by far.
Rafael Mendez, Timofei Dokshitzer and Fred Mills: STOP!!!!!
when did he pass awy?
1981 at the age of 75.
Ya Phil Driscoll!
I happen to agree with MASA92190.
"Jesusita de Chihuahua".
@Nabokov50 yeah, probably!!! lol
september 15, 1981
hey do not understand what you mean. like that rafael 1 and 2 takes to mean making. but maybe if I call it otherwise.
@varscht you're wrong.
Who gives a fuck about the movie Mendez is a straight beast. I just want to hear him.
are you sure this is the Mexican Hat Dance?
vizzuti is amazing also, but rafael is.. just better =p
wooot! go mexicans
my name is the same of this guy o.O
No way man. Clifford plays with originality. Clifford=Clifford.
Also this has nothing to with Rafael Mendez (who is freakin awesome by the way).
technique wise arturo wont "kick his ass". range wise, definitely. but if looked at techniques then mendez wins hands down.

As of 10/26/2020 we have 25 violinists(thumbs down).

dont think that way, be inspired to play more.
theirs no o
He's really good but can be rivaled. Ever heard of allen vizzutti?
Lip syncing trumpet....awesome!
that would suck=(
The entire band is "lip syncing".
don't worry , someone uploaded the 78rpm of this tune :)
