I think I've watched enough K and J entertainment over the last 5-6 years that I can tell group members apart easily, but with some groups I can't tell who's singing because their tones are nearly identical. I love that everyone in XG has such a great unique tone to their voices it's so easily identifiable who's singing.
oh yes. that's another great point. their sounds are also very similar. It makes me wonder why the k and j music scenes adopted that uniform formula. I know they are more collectivist societies. But that can't be the only factor i'd imagine. anyway. thank u for bringing up a great point. Someone else mentioned that the XG members are allowed to be themselves, have a say in their personal fashion, etc. and how that helps. I think I love the XG wave above most movements out of Asia because they let their artists be individuals more. One!
I'm glad to see you back buddy, hope all is well with your health after the wreck. To speak on idols looking all similar, I think XG are easier to recognize because they are allowed to be themselves, they all have their own distinct personalities and styles which are reflected through what they wear even in thr music videos. I don't get that same feels with other groups iv seen.
Mr Blazer! I'm trucking on. thank you for your support so much. And u right. that definitely helps! Other groups felt like clones to me as far as how they were trained to behave in the public eye. But you do see XG members all having distinct personalities. I bet that's gonna be a more popular formula now that the XG team has shown it can work.
@by9thplanet always, my man. I'm glad to hear you're at least okay. For sure, I agree. They aren't the only group to do this, Dreamcatcher, another favorite of mine have this same feeling, they are more rock/metal/edm in sound highly recommend them. Another group iv found recently is Billlie, with unique personalities, and their producer/producers are nuts. Their instrumentals are amazing, and they have another really strong rap line. They also use their vocal, and mixing of their vocals amazingly well.
I love that. there's been more than a few times i hear rappers I like go on interviews and reject other eras, the eras that directly led to his. including the one i grew up in. and i suddenly feel like an unwelcome fan. also prob why the XG fan base is so unified i'd guess
They definitely have callbacks. They aren’t in a place where they have such a long discography that they can’t recall. Listening to some rapper interviews it’s funny when they can’t remember anymore. Wayne is the famous case.
Not the Drake pics 🤣 Well said on speaking on rappers who create their identity based on where they are from, what they have personally experienced, and who they are influenced by. Last week's historical run in hip hop was a beautiful example on where an artist gets their respect and credits from the culture at the same time bringing unity within the city. In relation to XG, they have a great understanding on how to make their music feel authentic while paying respects to the art & culture of Hip Hop in their own way. The girls and team made sure their music is enjoyable for all ages. My personal experience was meeting different types of Japanese fans when I was in the Osaka concert, there was an elderly 70+ year old fan that is a classic jazz connoisseur who said to me that Tippy Toes was his favorite track from XG, then you have adult fans who love XG because they resonate with the nostalgia their music brings, and finally you have the younger fans who are just discovering this specific sound and style we grew up on. If you haven't caught up with the World Tour yet, they are going to people at the Madison Square Theater in NY. Hopefully you can able to cop tickets and experience their first tour before they rising into bigger fame. Its only up from here for these girls! Thanks again for continuing to react!
what up Blitz! thank you for your comment :D oh that must have been such a dope experience in Osaka to see how all these people who might not have talked together otherwise, were able to at an XG concert. That is such life goals in general. i got to look into the NYC concert. I'm outchea. them ticket prices are only going to go up from here hehe. I'm so excited to see who would be at the XG concert in NYC. Thank you for being on the journey w me! Peace.
Yeah I feel the same way you do. I don't listen to songs that glorify drug use or gang violence. I have a family member that has a sketchy background, and it sucks worrying about if you're going to see them alive or at a funeral.
word em up my brova. It not only affects those in the life, but their loved ones. It's a real life situation. And the circumstances that might lead one into that life or have groups of ppl be born into that life is even sadder. Seeing ppl who are fortunate enough to not have to know what that's like to the same degree tryna put that on like a costume just gives me so many weird feelings. We're blessed. We can walk, talk, and all that. Let's live in gratefulness today! Peace.
@@by9thplanet fully agree, it’s never been normal to me either. It’s become so romanticized as a way to build street credibility, which is obnoxious and irresponsible.
You’re not the only one .. . So many reactors have commented that each girl has their own unique tone which sets them apart from each other. . . .. I will be controversial and say that yeah other GGs don’t have the same - sounding all alike and their music honestly also sound the same
Hey, Vivian! i was lowkey talking about their faces. like a jail lineup when they're all standing side by side hehe. but yea, their tone is also very distinct! so the sound of a lot of GGs seem to be getting derivative to u. I'm sure I'll hear more of this too as I get into this genre more

Big Mad, yes, Harevy in tape4, ‘Big Mad’ she does a call back to tape3 ‘make ‘em big mad, humbly did that. On the last tape, with my twin, big facts’ - in their raps, they do a lot call backs
I love how XG can go dirty but not be crass while paying homage to the OGs. They rarely curse and be sexy by being flirty without looking like a stripper. I think with XG, they are characteristically different individually and no one in this group are following a trend on their looks, they're attempting to set the trend by bringing back some old school fashion. Some critics sees this as appropriation, but these people need a reality check. Their individuality sets them apart from the other groups not in just looks but in talent and skill. Together they are like a supergroup with each one of them able to have a decent career as an artist. The way I hear about first time reactors not realizing that XG are 7 members boggles my mind, but then I realize the shock of listening to them, the visual overload of seeing their production and the fact they automatically think they are K-pop sets a basis to their prejudice. Basically, they never fit the box people put them in. That's a hard accomplishment to gain the respect they deserve in of itself and like the flashback this video gives you, it should be no surprise of the ignorance of what compliancy does to people. This being said, Jurin wasn't the first pick as leader for XG, an artist who goes by KAMIYA was taken off the list because she would've been a better fit as a soloist. Her song "Final Boss" is addicting but it shows that even she skus differently than most J-pop artists while inexplicably feels very XG.
what up Rio! yea, i heard that bruh. we've been globalized for decades if not centuries whether we are actively aware of it or not. a lot of subcultures from groups lower on the socioeconomic ladder borrowed a lot from other nations as they weren't getting a lot of representation from media from home. a lot was borrowed from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, etc. so whatever Asia is borrowing from was also borrowed from them. So where ppl see reason to be upset, i just see a lot of unity n love. i think my gf tried to conceptualize XG for me as Japanese girls doing Kpop to help me conceptualize it with already established concepts. But I saw quickly how hard XG is tryna market themselves as their own genre. I think that's bold and something i and so many others are willing to support. Is the heatwave hitting your area too? it's been crazy over here hehe. peace
@@by9thplanet Dude this heat wave is all over the place. Runs stupid hot for a few hours then gets mild and reasonable later at night. Humidity sucks in NYC which is consistent though. Try to stay close to the water when venturing outside and enjoy the breeze, July is literally coming in hot in the next few days. I feel that XG is setting a standard in more ways than what people are seeing. I just discovered a Thai girl group named Dreamgals and they are swaggy AF. For some reason Thai rappers are getting some overseas action lately in the music scene. Also a number of Japanese metal groups are randomly popping up all of the sudden.
There's a lot of ignorance in the world. We moved to a predominantly white area when i was young. I got to know that there's good and bad everywhere. So i never assume how people are. You good homeboy. There's a lot of reactors that thought the whole group was one girl. 😂😂 Even if some won't admit it, there is something to getting exposed to a ethnic group to better know the faces. As far as XG, I love the group and the whole team. I'm hoping America will really embrace them. So far it's been mostly positive from what I've seen. Nice reaction ✌🏾
