Both sound very different to me, and I'm listening on headphones. There is a difference on the snare transients, as others have pointed out but the difference that really jumps out is how the stereo field is much wider with comprexxor and it brings out the space of the room and gives a lot more depth to the whole kit in general. When listening in context of the mix, comprexxor puts the kit in a "space"
I never installed Reapack until the previous video and installed Tukan compressors and limiting amps. Thank you for causing me to fall further down the plug-in rabbit hole Myk!
I heard about the Tukan plugins from another Reaper user. Went searching and found your page. This is gold! Thank you so much for excellent video. I've subscribed and will be checking out more of your stuff
as usual it's a question of taste, I do prefer here T.Racks (more sharp, more depth) BUT for a free plugin Dis-treasure is awesome. I hope guys from Cockos will take a look and help Tukan for why not include this in Reaper natively and Tukan to work on the design of the Reaper stock to make them more "sexy" when embedded. I have a dream to see Reaper with the same possibilities as UAD LUNA and rethink the FX on track to get a consol'ish.
Honestly, knowing how receptive CockOS is to public opinion, this isn't too far fetched. Might want to email them + the guy behind the Tukan plugins. I know he's still actively working on then and dont think any of them are final releases, yet.
@Oleo what do you mean with "the same possibilities as LUNA"? you can have the same saturation of LUNA with the SumThing plugin from Tukan if you add it to the default track template. I do so together with "Saturation" and "Non Linear Process" from Kockos and I feel I have something greater than LUNA plus Reaper is a bigger - better DAW than LUNA by far. Anoter thing is the UA Pluins Ecosystem. But you can have it in Reaper if you own one Apollo interface and Spark subscription.
To my ear, there's more of a slight drop-off in the clarity/high end with the Tukan, but whether it's that, or actually a slight high end lift on the T-Racks, is hard to say ... Either way, this stuff works really well, and the whole Tukan package is absolutely monstrous value for NO money! I only had the chance to play around with them a bit, but so far, it really rocks! Thanx for making videos on this, it's really a find!
Thanks for comparing the two! While the Tukan is not exactly bad, the T-Racks plugin is so more refined and alive - now I have to A/B with my SKnote Disto-S.
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper They kind of have nothing in common :) Box tone, attack and release curves, just about everything is different. But (!) I wouldn't use either to be honest. The T-Racks one sounded best to my ears, by far.
Funny enough that all of my comments are kind of obsolete when you use it hands-on. The Tukan plugin has been quite nice on a double bass track (better so than the SKnote), so as usual mileages vary.
Great vid Myk!! Is there a difference between the regular and compact version? I ask as I notice there is a difference in appearance on the MCP meter...
Hats/cymbals are far more present in Comprexxor's delta solo. Does that mean that it's boosting them or removing them? Delta can't tell us that, but it's a significant difference btw the two plugins.
Distreasure has clearly a longer attack so more transients and less compression. Also, sounds like the t-racks boosts the highs, a trick plugin companies use to make their products sound "better". Distreasure has higher level too. You got to gain compensate, man, otherwise there's no use for a comparison. I'm going to download the repository, nonetheless. The sumthing plugin is really tempting :P
got reapack working again and installed a bunch of Tukans stuff after your last video. Havent gotten to play with the Distreasure yet, does it have the 'opto' setting? forget which direction you turn everything to get it on the hardware unit, but the Comprexxxor just has that button by the looks of it
Easier method would be using the synchronize option in Reapack . This will refresh the repositories and automatically update any packages you don't have pinned to stay locked to a specific version.
Hey Myk...I know you're already aware of this technic but instead of sending the entire kit to the "crush" track...send just the kicks, snares, toms to it...!!!
In a lot of cases, I try both ways. Sometimes I like the way it sounds with cymbals and room mics added, other times I go with just shells. In this case, it was more an issue of easiest to do for a quick video 🤣

@@audiosounddoctor5834 I'm sorry to say so about your ears ;) ...but in this video the D#-Treasure has a bit longer attack time (regardless the knob positions) - I can hear such. So the compression comes a bit later - caused by that: not so much gain reduction. I bet you can adjust the parameters to sounding the plugins (nearly) completely the same.
Man that toggle shortcut….gonna change my life. Much appreciated
ohhh yeah, totally agree!

I preferred the Distreasure way more in this example. Definitely going to check this out!
Great content as usual, looking forward to seeing more videos about these plugins. Looks like they are under very active development!

Wow the tukan distresure is definitely a winner in sound thank god I downloaded it and is now a part of my new arsenal thanks to John Matthews

Drop off? I heard the opposite especially listening @ 3:36 section.
Great stuff, digging the Dis Treasure 👍
Thanks for the comparison. To my ears, the Tukan plugin let more high frequencies go through whereas the IK Multimedia gives a duller sound.
Thanks very much for that calm, objective perspective. Well done sir

best i can tell, the two are the same other than appearance. Perhaps @johnmatthews8435 can confirm
Great video - really enjoying your content. Thanks for this.
Great comparison! Thanks so much!
If you link two mono instance whith modulation paramèrers for drum or othe stereo the sound is realy realy good

Thanks for the video
@@cosmicsimonmusic no clue given the age of the video. Back then I think I may have been using one called MyTaste II

Great video. Thanks.
Im sold
The price point is perfect!
They both have slight character differences. If you took both full mixes and asked a random person if they could tell a difference....
This got a major update/fix a couple of days ago BTW, so anyone who installed this before then will want to grab that...

Thsts great!
T-racks sounds more pleasing to my ears...
They both sound very good in their own right, I think either could work well in various scenarios. Good to have options, for sure
Meh... They sound on par to me... Neither outclassing the other.
Nice

I feel I'm missing some context here, what's this regarding?
installing the plugins with reapack..I quoted the error, and the owners comment about it working fine.
Was hoping there was enough context here to find a way to actually install this... Nevermind..all is good
Distreasure sounds good but not so similar to any other distressor plugin but it sounds good anyway
I thought it sounded pretty similar to Comprexxxor, but then again, I don't claim to have well developed ears
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper there is much less compression going one with distreasure, but I like it ....you are great my friend

I got both for free 😊
My 2 cents..... Not enough difference to justify the $130 price of Comprexxor
It stays on sale, it seems. They have even given it away for free a few times.
Superb! Both are on the same quality level. Both are shitty. 🤣
