I interviewed Charley Boy for a news features for The Source when he joined Onyeka Onwenu to fight NTA over copyrights issue. I was a young reporter then, I think about 20, and he was very gentle with me seeing that I was a greenhorn. He kept asking me if I had properly written down what he had said because I had no recorder. The report I wrote earned me my first Nigeria Media Merit Award nomination.
🎉🎉🎉🎉 amazing
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Can i have your contact please
Are you still interviewing, writing and reporting? Do you have any program or forum, such as seminars, certificate, workshops where you help groom undergraduates and graduates in Mass Communication and Journalism? If not,you need to start one...so we can learn under you.
Wow congrats 🎉 to that
Charly boy is an amazing man. He was my neighbour and he loved my kids , was fascinated by their ability to speak igbo fluently and would bring gifts to my home for us. Shockingly he is shy and an introvert. Great mind...his wife is a fantastic woman and i had the privilege of meeting his first and last daughter. They are amazing people
That's so nice of him.
I was in gwarimpa from 2004 to 09, i remember his house hhh
But how you go describe dis kind of man as shy? Well, u fit dey right
You said he is an introvert, but he look and sound like and extrovert.
@@peterreal4900 He is a very shy man.. The makeup is a mask.
I see an old man aging gracefully; honest, blunt and unapologetic.
Charlie boy is ehat he thinks he is.
A true African Legend. ❤
"before dem disown me, I say make i disown dem" 😂 love the energy.
Mr. Nedu, good journalism is to allow your guests to speak as much as possible. We want to hear their stories and truth. Give them the space to speak
My thoughts exactly... dude be making his co-host scramble ask questions
Sometimes as a good journalist, you need to recall your guest so you can have time to ask other questions, he's doing the right thing..
Omo this husband material is so emotionally intelligent. Extra respectful and sensitive. I don’t know how to explain. Kai
❤❤❤❤I respect husband material 👏

This interview will be evergreen . Charlie Boys, honesty has been consistent. He is so open-minded and loves people.
Charlie boy is an engima. His maturity and wisdom dispels the facade he carries. Young ones should learn, everything has its time and season!
Uncle Charlie went to school in the USA with my uncle,my uncle told us among all the Nigerian students uncle Charlie was the richest student, said he lived in a house with a remote control gate. Uncle Charlie Uncle Charlie, uncle Charlie I dey abroad now too I love u my uncle
??
Charly Boy founded PRANKING as well...What a legend...I used to watch the Candid Camera...
Yes I remember watching it on TV back then.
Nedu, LET YOUR GUESTS ENGAGE WITH YOUR VIRTUAL AUDIENCE & STOP INTERRUPTING THEM. A lot of commenters repeat this complaint in the comments every week, but you refuse to listen. THE PODCAST has gone beyond creating shock value & you have built a good fan base. Reward your fan base by listening to us.
When Charly Boy says "village," people would take it to mean one remote, lifeless, God-forsaken location. But in actuality, his "village", Oguta, is one of the most developed towns in the old Eastern region: it had 4 secondary schools, electricity, pipe born water, tarred streets; a general hospital (not a health centre)--before the civil war. That's the town of Arthur Nzeribe, Flora Nwapa, the, the Nsofors, the Oputas ,the Nzimiros, Onumonus ..etc. It's a great place with people.
Oguta was the headquarters of the Biafran Navy during the Civil War.
Yes, but in the 70s/80s, Oguta was a sleepy town. Charly Boy himself has mentioned this many times.
@itsjemmabond:Charly Boy mentioned that Oguta was "sleep?! YOU DEFINITELY DIDN'T HEAR HIM WELL. There's no way a town that has four STANDARD secondary schools and such a level of social development could be characterised as "sleepy." Are you serious?! The fact that there were 4 secondary schools in the town meant that most of their youngsters never left their town to attend secondary schools elsewhere. Plus, numerous others came from other places in the old Eastern Nigeria and beyond to attend secondary schools there. I attended one of the boys' schools in Oguta, and my parents lived in Port Harcourt at the time, for example.
Wow! I like this man for the first time since I have heard about him . Don’t just judge people anyhow without knowing their story . Charlie boy you are a great man .
Area Fada! Look so great at 73, brilliant, brave, weird and fierce. I enjoyed watching, very honest guy Na your papa born u! Justice Optua was fearless
I wish this show can always be like this. This is the best open hearted interview ive ever watched. God bless Charly Boy.
I struggled from the beginning till the end to believe this man is 73years. ahhh. Good one
Base on what he said on this podcast, he should be 69 or 70 at the time of this interview.
This man is an open minded person. I really like his sincerity. He is a bold HERO . 🇬🇭
Husband material❤ I always anticipate to listen to you when you introduce the guests👏🏿👏🏿
Thank you Charly Man for all you have done for the Music Industry. The foundation you laid back then is what the Musicians are enjoying today and earning big.
Nedu didn’t allow anyone else to talk, it’s a safe space and everyone should contribute equally. Charlie boy is an enigma, never judge a book by its cover, respect to him and all the achievements under his belt. Great podcast, I learnt a lot.
On this episode, I personally think he did. He interrupts, but mostly to ask questions.
He does this all the time I Don comment tire. He won't just hush
Let understand that's it's a podcast and theres a centre of discussion that must not be left for something else, and that's what nedu does sometimes.
I have watched some of their programs, those girls sitting with nedu really don't have anything upstairs, whenever they open their mouth to speak in an interview, I just flip to watch something else
Lol. That one way to look at it
Ever since i was young Charley Boy will always make you feel good about yourself ❤️
This conversation is heavy, Loaded with life advice and lessons The very best podcast so far.👌
One of my best episodes of the year🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Sir Charly is a hero and legend of all the artists ❤❤❤❤🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
I've followed Charlie boy from the days of the Charlie boy show. I wish he would write a book about his life. He's lived a full and interesting life and we’d love to hear it all. Great episode guys!
He has a book 'My Private Part'.
@@kanayojubal9089 oh that's actually true o!🙈
This is the best conversation I have ever heard in Nigeria cause there is a lesson to be learned, God bless you Charlie boy 🙏🏻❤️🌙

Charly boy is one of the most intelligent and smartest celebrity I have ever seen
Wow! CB's interview is the therapy I needed. I'm surprised at how alike we are. Wish I had someone like him in my life to draw strength and wisdom from.
His honesty is refreshing.
Ever since this show came out this is my first time am watching this show and I would say this is the best show ever, I’m happy and I have learnt from it.. Charley boy you are a legend ❤️
Go watch previous episodes. You won't regret it.
It must be ur first time true true.. Go and watch that of I.D Cabasa, Spyro and the likes
Same here
Me too, my first time watching
God bless u sir, u just make me remember my late this night🌙⏰💤💤 he always straight forward to me about his past and his regret and lessons
I’m glad he spoke about mental health and not shy enough to share his experiences.
You guys should invite mental health professional to have a full conversation on positive psychology and psychology well-being awareness.
Congrats guys!!! Keep on
Love from 🇬🇭 Ghanaaaa, where the only best jellof is 😂
If Oputa were to come back to life now and hear Charlieboy speak, i am sure he will be proud of him this time. Charlieboy has now become a responsible man with more wisdom..
This show made my night. Nedu n co una try by bringing Area Fada to dis podcast, i really learnt alot. God bless him more
The only time I was on RUclips and not bothered about data consumption. I prayed it never ended. Gosh I learnt a whole lot.
This Nedu dey craze. Stop cutting him short.
he helps to control the timing and flow of the podcast
True
Husband Material seems like the only guy asking the real questions. I was patiently waiting for the Candid Camera part and his relationship with Tunde and Wunmi Obe. I'm glad it was finally asked. Great show.
I will be watching this episode for long..... Charlie Boy was so honest and real.
Yes he said it all
I have been waiting for this for the past 20 years. I have always wanted to know how someone like oputa was able to deal with Charley boy
He for don give that man headache die😂😂😂
I feel this Charlie Boy podcast never really finish. With the amount of extraordinary experiences he has in life, I feel he needs an environment or some people that can share his life more. A book, hes own channel or a documentary will be interesting.
100 and million percent...this is the comment I am looking for...I feel the podcast was very limited...so much more, he could have revealed 😢
Nedu no dey even allow the man answer him question. 🙄😏
Aaah I thought only me got irked with that
Keeps interrupting
And I spent a whole hour plus, watching this podcast👊it was really worth it.👌👌👌 Charlie is a Legend💯
Wow I love this segment, I learnt a lot. I didn't want to watch it but when the previous clip I was watching ended it brought up this and I was doing something. The first 5 minutes made sense I was like okay let me continue watching and I had to watch it again. Thanks to charley boy for his honesty and sincerity.
This episode is superb. I love every bit of show. Charlie boy lived a big life.
I never knew that Charley Boy is this down to earth, truthful and intelligent. What a good chat.
One thing I agree 💯 with area fada is “you negotiate with your kids” I totally agree oo 😂😂 I have two boys and negotiations and reverse psychology works like magic.
This is the best episode I've ever watched "Daddy Charlie Boi" was the bomb, God bless and keep you for us, you're inspiring 💗🙏
Please we need Eedris Abdul Kareem on this show..
your request came thru bro.. eedris countered everything charlie boy talk
I’m new to the Honest Bunch. When it first started I didn’t watch the videos but I recently discovered them and as a Nigerian in the diaspora I have to give you guys your flowers and say thank you for this great content. This has helped me learn a lot about what is going on in the country and taught me a lot about our celebrities. I’ll keep binge watching until I am caught up. ❤
One of the best and realest people on earth. Charly daddy
I did like the fact that Nedu cut him short when he wanted to talk about his secondary school life and being a native doctor. The story for sweet.
Na their style.. them don cut many sweet stories with that act
Is so annoying. He will never let anyone talk fully
Honestly speaking 😂
Nedu interrupts a lot with his own story. Very annoying
Charlie Boy is so so Interesting & wise... many more years to come AreaFada
Am still stunned. The brutal honesty!!! Wow!!!
thoroughly enjoyed this 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Charley Boy = Legend take ur flowers sir 💐💐🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This the craziest and funniest and realest podcast I’ve watched in my life 😅😊
CB is raw as hell. The man lived on his own terms. Respect!
Nedu just dey talk wetin him no even believe lol😂 dey speak grammar Mtcheew
I swear so annoying
na d accent de make vex and e de like show himself nor de let anybody talk
Thank you, Mr. Charlie 💐. Growing up, I loved and enjoyed "The Charlie boy show"
Seems really amazing
1:34:20 My parents loved you and we always watched the Charley boy show every weekend those days... thank you area FADA❤❤❤
Charly boy had been around for soo long, he started pranking on his show wey back, before keke and D1 started there own show prime time. 😂
I really enjoyed this episode, and am glad Charly Boy cleared the air while he is still with us. He is a legend and I have admired him whilst growing up. I wish him everything of the best.
I remember how on the Charlie boy show, they went to ,meet Tina Onwudiwe in SA when she was terminally ill. Every week I tuned on for
it was heartbreaking when she passed on.
That's true friendship.
That's almost 22 years ago. Crazy to think Charly Boy was like late 40s early 50s. To think this dude is mid 70s tells you how time on earth is so fickle.
That's Tina onwudiwe episode before she passed broke me. She was on very strong woman
This is the best podcast , and it made me love Charley boy
I’m always very happy to see Toun. She’s always happy. I love it 🥰
Charlie boy is so free, outspoken and respectfull. He still looks strong and energetic at 73. Obviously, the grace of God is on him.
One of the Igbo’s biggest brand uncle Charlie Boy and undoubtedly a legend
Nedu please stop cutting people shut ...give others the chance to talk and finish their discussion.... i believe the show should be about the guest and not you or any other host. #honestbunch #honestopinion
Na this one be the first edition for 2024...with the introduction that you guys didn't do in the previous. Because area fada post am for us to see....all the same, you guys ROCK.
Nedu usually ask things he would love to hear cos he would love to do or fantasy about those things. The question the lady beside husband material just knocked off all other questions he has been asking Charley Boy. What advise would u gv ur 20yrs old self? Comes from an attentive person with less talk 👏 👏 👏
If you know you came here after seeing the video on tiktok gather here ❤
Oga i present 😂

For the new generation, Charly Boy was the "Clarence Peters" of the late 80s. The goto video director for the best music videos
No you are wrong, Clarence Peters is the son of Shina Peters the musician and Clarion Chukwuka the Nigerian actress
@@bidemijoy8140u are so dumb..can't u read to understand b4 u reply ignorantly
@@bidemijoy8140 read again. I didn't say Clarence is Charlie Boy's son. I said Charlie Boy was the best video director of the 80s.
This is one of the best episodes I've watched, I love Charlie boy so much, this episode solidifies my love for him the more.
Kudos guys!!!
Husband Material: “It’s not about me.” 😂😂😂
I don't agree with alot of his mindset but I appreciate his life journey was shared. Our kids is all we truly have and their upbringing is one way or another our fault, either we weren't attentive or ignorant.
CBS used to be the only entering tv program for so long... Kudos to a living legend
I really enjoyed this episode. Charlie Boy is a Legend. So much wisdom. "Friendship" makes relationships or marriages last longer. Also this man crosses his leg all through the show... 😂 Indeed he is the 'showbiz'. ❤
Charley Boy still looks like a boy very fresh and looks younger than 74. He spoke very profound words of wisdom, experience i dont even know how to discribe what i have just heard. This man followed the law Know Thyself
This is one of the best podcasts I listened to in recent times.
i've always been scared of charly boy while growing up, but now I see what he is all about.
Wow this episode made me happier I remember my dad used to be a huge fan of Charlie boy
Best episode…. He is filled with wisdom and knowledge
Never judge a book by its cover
He looks like a real gentle man
Legendary way , respect to Sir CB and the house ❤❤we love you guys 🙏
Oga Nedu Oga Nedu 😂😂Oga Nedu threading with caution
One of my best on your podcast. Keep it up guy. Charley boy is so real. ❤
"Success is dependent on the individual " Area Fada, I hear you 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nedu zukwanuike😂na only you Dey ask
No mind am... na him sabi speak english pass. Short man syndrome...
Husband material still remains the best interview on this set. Nedu needs to know when to always yield the floor for others. The other ladies needs to come out of their shell more and also do self learning to sharpen their interviewing skills or maybe because they rarely yield the floor for them.
NEDU DE SHOWDOW DEM , HE TALKS TOO MUCH
I want to believe that Nigeria was never meant to flourish or else how could we boast if having so much intellectuals and yet our lives are one of the worst. How I wish one day we will be truly liberated. May those who died rest well
This man. I really learned many things from him. The must important thing I learnt is, what so ever you do today you will definitely get tired of that thing tomorrow. Better talk ❤❤❤❤
Charly Papi demonstrated that don’t judge a book by its cover. Great mature and enlightening responses he make to every question from the gang. 🎉
I totally enjoyed every bit of this podcast
GOD BLESS YOU GUYS @thehonestbunch for bringing daddy charlie boy....now my confidence in being my damn self no matter what has gone from 60% to 100%. God bless you.❤
The friendship is what keeps married baba have said it whenever it looks like you guys tired for unan self remember your friendship that is the secret of love to keep burning ❤❤❤❤❤ blessed you all guys and baba too
My brother nedu allow the guest to talk naaaa 😂😂
I shock sef
Husband material is simply amazing
The most HONEST MAN ON THE HONEST BUNCH! No filter… Just pure truth
Powerful point to take home among others is Charly Boy said he is grateful for all the training his father gave him because it still shaped him.
Gen Z take note of that deep and powerful lesson. The trainings for kids 👧 are still important and parent of this days should not spare the rod and spoil the child.
He is a Unique Legend. I learnt a lot from all you shared. Life indeed is a reality of diverse experiences
