I think it was meant to be funny. I always saw that scene as "oh my god.. is he going to suffocate her?" but then she wakes up and he gets scared, in his typical Charlie fashion.
@@sabrinashelton1997 My sympathy for yours to have produced an offspring to grow up with such poor taste in movies . Actually Nicholas Cage is pretty good in this if you like the sound of a munchkin who has had a whiff of helium !
This was my favorite movie when I was about 10 years old. I just loved the time travel/50s aspect. I just watched it again as a 42 year old and bawled my eyes out. This isn't a sci fi movie at all: It's about being middle aged and all the loss, tragedy, and wisdom that comes with it.
you and I are the same age and I too enjoyed this movie as a little girl. I didn't understand it the same way I do now at 42. It makes me emotional too. I think what gets me the most is how we have regrets and say that if we could go back, we would do it all differently-- but would we? Even knowing what we know now? We love who we love and the things that happened to us were supposed to happen in order to bring us where we are today.
People criticize the voice and understandably so, but I always saw it as a typical teenage boy that can’t see past himself. Whining and thinking his thoughts are the most crucial and important. Maybe a misunderstood acting choice?
I’m conflicted about this scene. It’s beautifully written and Kathleen Turner really delivers. It just seems like Nicolas Cage is in a different movie. He plays his role like a comedy, but this is a very dramatic scene, and he really should’ve dialed it back.
The ‘window in my heart’ part was Kathleen’s Oscar clip at the ceremony. To me, she deserved the 1986 Best Actress Oscar, but, rewatching it, NCage’s performance probably off-put voters.
I’ve got the hair I’ve got the teeth I’ve got the eyes …. He does though. I don’t know why I’ve had this attraction to Nicolas Cage, but I have. He’s not especially aesthetically, pretty or conventionally attractive but there’s some thing intriguing and masculine about him.
not only does the voice work, but he acts the anger/desperateness/heartache so well that the performance transcends the voice tone
One of Cage's best performances, honestly
Omg he's hysterical in this movie. Seriously
So nobody gonna talk about how he tried to kill her???
He wasn’t really trying, it was just an impulse that quickly passed.

I don't think he would have done it.
Shut up...
It was the 50s. Or the 80s? Either way, men showed their love & devotion differently back then.
This is a truly underrated movie. One of my favorites.
I agree! Mine too! It's amazing how emotional the music is..
How did she not win best actress for this role? Perfection
Marlee was just that much better
Went up against a deaf woman
That's the golden ticket to a win
that voice is ridiculous but it does work. Their band is a riot.
Not for me it doesn’t but then again this whole execrable film is ridiculous.

Uncle Francis had to be proud of Nick after they film this scene...he really sold the heartbreak Charlie was feeling.

With a touch of time travel. Michael wrote that book 🥰
@@Sam-mn4ed "To Peggy and the starry night" ❤
Yes! Same!! I’m about to turn 43 and I felt all sorts of emotions watching it
@@marialisa6478 wow are you a writer or poet? beautifully said 🙂
I almost didn't recognise Cage with that goofy voice, but it really works for the character of Charlie.
Hahahahahaha 🤣
Nic Cage and that voice 😆😆
Great impression of Ryan Gosling
🤣🤣🤣
I love this movie. I watched it on Hulu
More like Ross from friends. Especially when he’s crying
@@deeeezeeeee6204 Definitely - good call! I think D.Schwimmer could play Warren Jeffs if they make a movie bout that shiz
😂😂

She is so underrated like she should do more movies
Too late. She got old and overweight..
She is still beautiful though
Nick Cage was so great in this!
Aw poor Charlie 😞

He's great..
I adore cage! When I heard he was going to play Count Dracula in a new movie I nearly fainted. And then I watched his entire movie catalog.
I never noticed before, the voice he is doing sounds just like David Schwimmer.
My favorite movie ever
Cage is a genius. This is so funny, I couldn’t laugh.
♈️👩⚖️,
I really like this movie!!!
with Kathleen Turner!
He was 21 and she 32...
Cher saw this and wanted him for "Moonstruck."

I love this movie such a classic in my eyes.
What the hell is he doing with his hands in the beginning of the clip? What a freaking creeper

Does anyone know what he says when he shakes her?
He says “it’s true then!”
Nic cage is cringe in this lol
She looks 45 y old and charlie is weird. Weird is a good thing though.
