I wish someone would translate the manga. It's a long series with tons of very long chapters, but it's interesting. Not entirely sure how I feel about the ending though. Last arc starts with the hero finding out that he and Ribumira had been in suspended animation following a climactic battle for 57.6 BILLION years. Even the stars are all red, and none of the systems where the people he's known lived remain, let alone any record of those people. He's devastated that he'll never see them again, but doesn't have time to mourn. Turns out he was awakened by some merfolk-like people who are being hunted and were hoping he could save them. The only ray of hope is that at the end they thank him with information about a person or something that can help them jump back in time. Sounds like the limit is three thousand years, but they believe it might give them a clue to figure out what they need to do to get all the way back to their own time.
It took me SO long to remember the title of this anime. The only thing I remember are the unique spaceships shaped like winged women. Thank you for uploading this! It's my new jam on repeat now. Haha!
Finally after finding this anime for many years i watched it when i was young ( it's CD still at my house) But now i finally found it in internet CONGRATULATIONS!
fucking finally , i found this song bundled with a .rar of macross songs back in 2003 or so, written in kanji, never knew the name of the song until today ( also , i feel fucking ANCIENT)
+VideoQuestEx It's short and doesn't have any kind of an ending. The OVA is an hour and the anime is 4 episodes. Also for such a short series at least 2 episodes don't really move the plot along at all. By the last episode if there were a 5th we would have actually gotten in to the plot more. That doesn't happen. One thing that even as a kid I noticed is (Spoilers) the hero brings his girlfriend with him but he clearly ends up falling in love with another girl in one of the episodes. It's completely obvious! The other girl leaves but you can just tell he is in love with her. The manga, if you can find it, might be better.
You also need to remember that, in the 1990s especially, the animators in Japan were coming up with really cool plots for series, animating a few episodes, then moving on to the next idea. They weren't originally supposed to be OVAs. Some examples are: Iczelion, Maps, and Ruin Explorers. The worst part is, being these were all original ideas, there is no game, novel, or manga to finish the story.
Not as yet. My local comic store has a very large anime section, even VHS! He's planning on getting rid of his rental system...eventually. He has it so, I've put it on my list. I've been a good customer for about 17 years so, he usually cuts me a deal on older things. *evil laugh* The best part is that my VCR still works!
LynKora My VCR still does too! I haven't used it for years but I know it still does. I only have a handful of old anime tapes that I keep, plus tons of other movies that I have to go through. Sadly I have no one to rent from myself, but lucky for me I have a my PS2 that is still in great condition since 2002, and some good DVD's. Also RUclips and Crunchyroll. Other then Ayane's High Kick, also look for Battle Arena Toshinden OVA. That's good. The dub isn't to good, but the music is great. Oh and great anime series that I whore out to everyone is Vandread. Awesome show ever!
Not likely. I bought the manga off Bookwalker. Ten volumes, and each volume is LONG. Then again, it's very different from the manga in the first place. The characters are a bit more chibi in style, there's a lot more ecchi and rom-com elements (Hoshimi is rather prone to hen-pecking on account of his popularity and interest in all the girls that surround him). I myself couldn't manage it, partly because I don't know kanji well enough to read without frequent dictionary checks, and something akin to LoTR in length is not easy to do that way. Worst mistake though was jumping to the last volume in impatience: In the second to last volume, there's some sort of climactic battle that Gen and Lipmira fight alone while Hoshimi and other friends wait back home. They win, but due to damage (I think) they end up in some sort of suspended animation. The last volume starts with him being awakened and finding out that something like eighty *million* years have passed. I did little but skim after seeing him cry for a bit over Hoshimi and all the other people he knew who at this point couldn't possibly even remain in myth. I'm not exactly fond of seeing the primary love interest (and all the rivals as well) left so thoroughly behind like that. Didn't read enough to say for sure how it ends, but while it seems to be some manner of "happy" end it's still too bitter with that. Also, want something interesting, go digging around (use the full title MAPS Densetsu no Samayoeru Seijintachi): there's another MAPS OVA from long before this one. Gen and Hoshimi are a lot closer to their manga personality, though Lipmira was changed a good bit (for some reason they switched her from blonde to blue hair, for one).
This theme was played when I made my own intro my favorite Disney afternoon shows like DuckTales chip and Dale rescue rangers talespin and darkwing duck
Imposible to find! about 7 years ago I downloaded a awful rip of the ADV dvd, it sucked so much, full of artifacts and potato quality i decided to not to watch it until i got a better video. It may never happen the dvd seems to be in low quantities as well.
This OVA doesn't get the love it deserves. It's one of the greats.
💯

Never saw this anime but the music instantly grabbed my attention.
So glad I found this, popped in my head randomly after more than a decade!!! Had this on VHS, truly old school anime!!!
Same. I actually found it on DVD just before ADV went under.
It took me SO long to remember the title of this anime. The only thing I remember are the unique spaceships shaped like winged women. Thank you for uploading this! It's my new jam on repeat now. Haha!
I remember dancing to this song at an anime convention, and of course from my Evangelion VHS tapes.
Same with me.
One of my fave all time anime songs!! This is beyond great!
This song is addictive I’ve played this over five times
Same with me.
Finally after finding this anime for many years i watched it when i was young ( it's CD still at my house) But now i finally found it in internet CONGRATULATIONS!
Thank you so much for uploading this! I still have the series on VHS, and I just love the theme song. 😍
Same here! I still have the VHS’s but my VHS player is long gone.
This takes me back to the 90s
Wow, that was one of the very first anime I saw back over 20 years ago back when VHS was prevalent and it cost an arm and a leg to get it.
歌詞の「Don’t stop thinking your dream than melt!」って、カリオンの「命の限り諦めるな」って意味だったんだね
still awesome

It's been like a decade since I've seen this show but I still hum this shit at work every so often.
Awesome tune! I gotta check out this anime someday!

LynKora God I love Iczelion! I love the OVA better then the original series!
You see Ayane's High Kick? That was great too!

0:12 Reminds me of Cruel Angel Thesis from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Yeah, I had to go back to that song to check, lol.
it does reminds me of Megumi Hayashibara hits
Yeah!!! La encontré!!!
I wish they had finished the OVA instead of the cliff hanger we got. I wanna see the Mystical Ones get got.
