Hey I know that plane! My great grandfather was on the pathfinder plane that overshot its target. He ended up wandering around the wrong part of France for a while and got injured by a grenade in a fire fight with some retreating Germans. They took him to building that was being used a field hospital, but the building got hit by allied artillery. He accidentally got shelled by his own side! He only survived because he and the other allied prisoners were being kept in the basement. eventually he was found by troops who had landed on the beaches a few days earlier and got sent home. He learned how to drive a tractor with a few less fingers and only died a few years ago in his mid 80's.
The biggest issue was that the winds were high, and you couldn't steer those old circular parachutes, so he got separated from his squad and landed with no idea where any of them were, or where he was for that matter.
Tesla-Effect no I don't blame all of them. I of course blame Hitler, his high commanders, and basically any Germans stationed at concentration camps, but most of them were just as innocent as our men.

No, they got it right. Canada used either the Union Jack or the flag you see depicted for both World Wars. Commonly called an 'ensign,' it featured the Union Jack in the upper quadrant, a crimson field and the Canadian crest with three green maple leaves at its base. In 1958 the flag changed to red leaves and was known as, 'the Red Ensign'. In 1963, the government of the day sought a uniquely Canadian design and adopted 'the Maple Leaf,' a stylized large single maple leaf on a white field with red bars (denoting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans) on either side. Incidentally, there are 'battle pendants' for all the armed services, but they are followed most closely by the Royal Canadian Navy. Traditionally, if a vessel struck its colours, it was an indication it was surrendering; a nautical version of 'throwing in the towel'. In the event the ship's flag is shot away, naval vessels fly up to three flags, including the battle pendant during engagements.
Richard Short The government never officially said what the red bands were for. For example, what is representing the arctic Ocean? If they represent Atlantic and Pacific why would they ignore the Arctic?

Just be aware of the fact that in Nazi Germany you didn´t exactly have the choice not to join the military, a lot of people died on both sides, but rarely do I hear people say that the German casualties should be remembered. Keep in mind, not everyone who wore a German uniform had to be a Nazi, just because you were forced to fight for the wrong side doesn´t mean you deserved to die. There is nothing honorable about war, and while I do know why WW 2 had to end that way and that Hitler and his government had to be put down no matter the cost I think people should take a moment and remember all the young men who were forced to die for something the did not even believe in.

Showing Pegasus Bridge in the episode about US actions on D-Day? Oh man, you are going to hear it from the UK folks for that one! Pegasus Bridge was captured by British forces (specifically the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry). The bridge was renamed to "Pegasus" in honor of the shoulder emblem worn by British Airborne.
I am talking about the bridge at 6:42. Counter-weight at one end, gate on the other to stop traffic while the bridge is raised. It is not drawn with the semi-circular track on the sides, but otherwise it is pretty much spot-on.
Agreed; given that it's widely held that the action at Pegasus bridge saw the first Allied casualties and 'liberation' of French civilians during the D-Day operation, the inference that it seized by US forces was... deeply uncomfortable. The church at Sainte-Mère-Église would have been a more suitable iconic landmark to use. On a separate note, the 101st and 505th seems an odd pairing to use given that the 101st is a full-blown division whereas the 505th is a regiment within the 82nd. Pairing the 101st and 82nd would have made more sense, I feel. (Admittedly this may be bias on my part as the 82nd never seem to be shown as much love as their flashy cousin).
I like your videos on the great wars. Despite the cartoony style, the expressions on the charachters give them a really human feel. It kind of brings out the terrors of war. And how terribly bad it is on the battlefield. You've given me something to think about. Gg m8
*Andrew Coman* Yes, there's a map of Normandy in the video. The Canadian beach, Juno, is between the two British beaches (Sword and Gold) on the eastern flank. Canadian troops at Juno made it further inland than troops from any of the other beaches in the first day of the invasion. And we had the highest percentage of casualties to prove it. This feat is sometimes erroneously attributed to British troops. ( *Please note:* I said _percentage,_ not _number._ ) One of the wounded D-Day casualties was British Columbia native James Doohan, who played Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott (Scotty) on the original _Star Trek_ television series and several off-shoot movies. Incidentally, 'Montgomery' was Doohan's actual middle name.
My gran's uncle was a paratrooper at D-day. I didn't really get the chance to talk to him much as he lived in Canada while I'm in Scotland. He died a few years ago.

My Great Grandfather was situated in India as a field Marshall. He returned in 1946, the last of his family to return. My uncle has his hat and in he was buried with a bundle of his letters he sent, the last one having his blood stain from his lost leg.
The reason why the pathfinders look so weird is because many of those men were navajo, the Americans needed to counter the German's enigma code, so they made their own code out of the navajo language.
The Navajo code talkers only worked in the pacific theater, against the Japanese. Paratroopers wearing war paint and Mohawks started from sergeant jake mcniece who had some Native American blood and did it to honor his heritage. He encouraged the rest of his pathfinder unit to follow suit
And yet native Americans are underappreciated today. With our president on a day meant to honor them he chose to make fun of possible part native American woman instead.

Kamehameha AND the Great Crusade? That's two things off my Extra History wishlist. Now all that's left is:
- Frederick the Great
- Otto von Bismarck
- WWII North African and/or Italian Campaign
- Darius I and/or Cyrus the Great (assuming there's enough viable info)
Cough, cough, make it happen.
Otto Von Bismarck is coming in fall
Also, if possible, Pachacuti and his journey to build the Incan Empire.

The 101st wasn't a veteran unit. The first time it saw action was during the D-day. The 82nd AIRB, however, saw action since Sicily
He probably meant "professionally seasoned." They were combat rookies, but well-disciplined and trained.

D-DAY UPON US
Primo Victoria
One of the worlds largest invasions will not be forgotten even from 75 years ago
NostraDunwhich Pegasus is a bascule bridge the one shown was a fixed brick bridge
Good to know I'm not the only person who notest that.
I am talking about the bridge at 6:42. Counter-weight at one end, gate on the other to stop traffic while the bridge is raised. It is not drawn with the semi-circular track on the sides, but otherwise it is pretty much spot-on.
It's literally just a bridge.

Gg m8
Mexico also helped in WW2 they even had pilots.
Darius Lithav True but not that much. Which makes sense they had no reason to be involved besides politics.
Some central Americacs were forced to fight in both ww1 and ww2
Jackson Porter they probably shortened the war by a bit
Brazil was the only South American country that sent forces in any sort of meaningful number. But even they only sent a division.
Well Navajo served in ww2 on the Pacific campaign 2 on the ground and 1 in the ship for artillery so Japan cant understand them

Now, please calm down. Remember, we're Canadians.
I have a history question, what was Canada's roll in D-day? I believe I saw them in The Longest Day.
*Andrew Coman*
Yes, there's a map of Normandy in the video.
( *Please note:* I said _percentage,_ not _number._ )
One of the wounded D-Day casualties was British Columbia native James Doohan, who played Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott (Scotty) on the original _Star Trek_ television series and several off-shoot movies.
Incidentally, 'Montgomery' was Doohan's actual middle name.

Never have I ever clicked as fast as I have now. Also, where is that Battle of Britain series you said you wanted to do in that last Resource War Video?
That's probably going to be the next series Wargaming sponsors. They've made World of Warplanes, too.
It would be not nice if not all sponsored stuff wasn't about WWII (well the Punic Wars was not but the rest have been).
DuckSwagington The last video of the resource war series was the Battle of Britain and I don't remember them saying something about doing a full series about it.

With our president on a day meant to honor them he chose to make fun of possible part native American woman instead.
thought that was only in the pacific
