Not sure if it's a hot take or not, but my absolute favorite aspect of this part is the Steel Ball Run race itself. Like even beyond the usual JoJo aspects, and the overarching plot I'm most engrossed when they are just horse racing and using powers in favor of those moments. Araki apparently could easily transition into the racing genre (if thats a thing) if he gets tired of the supernatural action train lol
Dude, soo true When the lucy and valentine arc was going on I wasn't bored , but it kinda lacked the thrill of the race Most of my favourite moments of SBR are when they are in the race But still it's not only peak JoJo it's peak manga (for me atleast)
Just popping in to clarify that the spin is not Gyro’s stand ability and is the alt universe version of hamon or the ripple, mirroring how jojo learns it from zeppeli in part 1 since Johnny is the alt universe version of Jonathan. Part 7 is cool because it has elements of both power systems from previous parts reimagined to work together really cohesively.
Steel ball run is amazing, gyro is my favorite jobro, the jofoe of this part is one of my favorite of the series, and this entire part is a giant love letter to all of JoJo.
"Peak Ball run" Araki was in his bag. I will say the start took some getting used to since the stands were different from the previous parts but the dynamic duo of Johnny and Gyro is some of most memorable stuff I took from Steel ball run.
YESSS Part 7 coverage. Excited to hear your thoughts on it! :D Your Jojo vids have been great, definitely gotta join some of the streams for other series.
Part7 does indeed mark the point where Jojo went from the weekly Shounenjump to the monthly Ultra Jump. IMO you can really feel the improvment that came with Araki having more time to work on each chapter. Cant wait for you guys to get through it!
I mentioned on the Pt6 video that I think the ending was one of the smartest thing Araki has done, and Pt7 is exactly why. Araki has essentially used the universe reset to retell some aspects of the parts before and fix and expand on things he wasn't able to, all while keeping things fresh. I think he also realized a Stand doesn't need to be super complex and convoluted to work well in a story, so you get really simple concepts, like shooting finger nails, turning things into dinosaurs, or controlling metal. So excited to hear your thoughts on the rest of the story and future parts when you get to them!
I don’t know if you’re reading a version with chapter notes, but I think Araki’s first chapter note really does a good job at explaining both the world and the plan of SBR: “JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is entering into a parallel world. And by that I mean it's no longer JoJo, it's Steel Ball Run.” First, this is not a continuation. This Johnny will not marry an Erina who eventually raises Joseph, grandfather of Jotaro. While the names persist, these are new people in a new world unconnected from the last. Second, Araki isn’t trying to make lightning strike twice. Rather, what he wants is to essentially take what he learned from making JoJo and make it something new, attached only to the previous parts in that it contains so much of their DNA that it couldn’t really stand alone.
You guys mentioned a lot of movies that Steel Ball Run is similar too, but maybe you're not aware of the 1981 move "The Cannonball Run" where they have a car race across America.
Before the episode starts I’m here to claim Gyro being my favorite JoBro of all time. What an absolute goat. What a great part in general araki was in his absolute duffel bag. 1:32
I've heard great things about Part 7, but I have experienced Part 8 in real time, and I can't wait for you two to go through the journey. It's messy, but it's so good. The first half of JoJolion is some of the strongest manga I've read.
Bruh I genuinely thought jojolion was going to top part five for me since i really liked the beginning but then it let me down so much that it gave me trust issues all over again 😭
@mirroredhour I'm right there with you. I thought it was going to be peak, but then he had to hit us with endless calamity. What a way to derail the hype train. I was in the minority living off the copium, claiming there was no way that we would end with the Fumi flashbacks, and that would be that.
I just finished a binge of SBR and Jojolion to catch up to Jojolands. Have to say, without going into spoilers, that SBR's first third didn't sell me but the last two thirds was one of my favorite binge reading manga experiences ever.
Literally same, I loved the end of the first race but it wasn’t until Gyros backstory around ch.20 that I started really enjoying sbr. It only went up higher and higher from there though
Super entertaining start! I couldn't wait to read with the pod and already finished part 7!! Mehgan's Bruno bit was outta pocket 😂 I'd recommend stopping at ch 62 for next time. Ch 63 is the end of v16 but it's an awkward stand alone chapter to end on IMO.
Just finished reading this far and you know I had to go back to watch the video. I was really skeptical with this new JoJo, but I’m here for it and all the mysteries.
This is kinda unhinged, but in 17:31, when he was scratching himself I thought he was making a Jojo Reference to something later in SBR, but then I realized he hasn't read that part yet.
I'll be first one to say that although SBR is great , it is quite overhyped by the community in my experience . It is probably my favourite part too but people seem to say that it's one of the best manga ever which is a bit much imo. In any case , hope you guys have fun with this one!
Popular opinion: JoJo Part7 is peak fiction. Bu far my favourite part, I wanna talk about it so much but I don’t even wanna spoil any of it. Everything about this part is amazing
Im the odd one out then. I dont get whats so special about SBR. I felt like it dragged alot, maybe this part just works better for me in animated form...
You are not alone!!! Everyone praises this part so much that it gets to the point where I'm constantly feeling disconnected. It's not bad but it's not mind-blowing. I get the feeling an anime adaptation will make me like it more but it's still not going to be one of my favorites. I know everyone has different opinions but it's so weird to be in the minority sometimes edit: as a part five fan it's not like I'm not even used to having an unpopular opinion and usually I couldn't care less about fandoms but jojo has a different hold on me so I do find myself irritated by sbr fans sometimes like they're on another level of worship.
Sbr is the best part imo, but I'm really surprised with how much you like the beginning chapters. After Gyro wins the first leg of the race the story goes into some of the most unbearable arcs in the entire franchise. Bland desert setting for several chapters with lame villains like the boom boom family and pork pie hat. Thankfully from Scary Monsters onward the part is incredible.
Honestly its a good start. You reintroduce stands for an audience who might not know, you get a fresh start on the main cast, you get the mystery behind Gyro's origin. It's a really good beginning and the set up pays off almost every time.

How is this the first time I'm seeing the term "JoeFoe"? I feel like a fake fan
"Fuck all of you. I'm going to be a dinosaur." 😂
Diego is a really great character tho
"Peak Ball run" Araki was in his bag. I will say the start took some getting used to since the stands were different from the previous parts but the dynamic duo of Johnny and Gyro is some of most memorable stuff I took from Steel ball run.
lets gooooo, Part 7 and 8 are top-tier quality!! Cant wait for you to continue SBR
"You live by the balls, you die by the balls."
Gyro Zeppeli
Jie-ro as in gyroscopic, as in spinny things
YESSS Part 7 coverage. Excited to hear your thoughts on it! :D
Your Jojo vids have been great, definitely gotta join some of the streams for other series.
Part 7 is considered one of thee best parts, although part 9 start ain’t half bad 👌🤣
Y’all are almost there can’t wait
Bruh what do you mean "considered" ?
It IS the Best Part!
@@krimson4626 Nyo-ho!

To clarify the thing that pops up when Diego and gyro get the eyes, that thing is simply a guardian of the corpse part specifically the eyes

I love all of the racers, they each have strong motives and their own strategies for winning, the whole cast feels like fleshed-out people
Like to imagine what JoJo characters from other parts might have done to win
Part 7 was actually the first Jojo part I ever read (on accident), and nothing has topped it since lol!
🗿

Araki's magnum opus without a doubt, my favourite part, plus like Best Boi Gyro says mozzarella rella rella rella rella rella
Answer to why Sticky Fingers is zipper based: The Sticky Fingers album had a special edition cover that had a working zipper on it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!~
Scary monsters is a David bowie song, but it would have been nuts if Diegos stand was a skrillex reference
Here we go baby! My favorite part!
Just finished reading this far and you know I had to go back to watch the video. I was really skeptical with this new JoJo, but I’m here for it and all the mysteries.
I can’t believe Araki invented Jesus
SBR lets gooooooo!!!! Idk but i love when Gyro says "ora" lol
I really enjoyed Part 7, hope you guys do, too - seems like its off to a good start with you guys!~
True Man's World is just peak arc
i got that big brain i read this like a year ago so i can watch the three parts in a row
We all love Steel Balls!!
Yes Meg Gyr0 is Greek f00d als0 means R0und
Mrs Robinson wasn't a stand user his insects are a technique like Gyro with the spin but a lot worst and less useful
This is kinda unhinged, but in 17:31, when he was scratching himself I thought he was making a Jojo Reference to something later in SBR, but then I realized he hasn't read that part yet.
Bouta read it right now so i can watch the video, always wanted to read it but y'all givin me a reason to lol
Gyro is pronounced like Gyroscope.
Lest goo, it’s pronounced Jyro btw
Finally got around to reading JoJo part 7 after MHA ended. Now to experience your guys review. I'm just a little late.
I'm so excited I feel sick
Was not expecting a rent a gf shoutout this episode, Josh giving it the respect it deserves
I just started it
Josh knows about Rent a peak!
Scary monsters is a David Bowie reference🥰
I'm anime only so can't watch this video, but glad you guys are loving SBR
part 7 is the best part, that's the peak there is nothing after SBR :)
Johnny is the goat
Yes

Especially the first 20 to 30 chapters. Also whenever people say Johnny is by far the best JoJo I always an eyebrow.
S-Tier
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ya'll read too fast. Took me a month to get 35 chapters in.

@@arkkon2740 Gyro's backstory is honestly the only thing I like from that section.
how is part 5 had great characters? did we read the same part Josh?
Part 5 did have great characters
Part 5 still has the best crew.
Finally we’re here nyhoho 🫠 and if you loved the start this much you’re gonna lose it later on goddamn
