Am I the only one who get a big grin on my face whenever I hear, "Heeeyyy Everbody"?!? I know I'm about to be entertained, and enlightened, by someone with that perfect down-home story telling style that pulls you in and makes you lose all track of time.
+backdraft916 Thats always great to hear! I gotta say, I have no idea why I started the Heeyyy Everbody but I guess its stuck and it works. Thanks for the comments and Thanks for watching
Never mind any comments about video's being too long. The comments are by people who do not listen to what you are talking about. If they listened they would find that not only are you telling how to make or do do what the subject is, but you are also explaining why this or that way is good or better then another way!! Which can spark idea"s on how to do it too, even only if you have part of what is needed. You explaining why can lead to, If needed doing this in this fashion can make it do what he is doing with proper items. Doing it the other way will just harder, and I know what I will buy after I sell some of the junk and do some recycling. Keep up with the why you want it done a certain way comments!!
Nice idea. Reminds me of the people who herd reindeer and live in a insulated tipi. If you buy a small tarp and cut triangles to cover the ends you could better retain the heat captured by the blanket. You could attach the triangles with pebbles and string or add grommets from Harbor Freight with their tool. Liked your mention of just using a tent but it is fun to problem solve. Even using a triangle at the end with 3 attachment points will allow air and moisture ventilation but in windy weather you will better retain some heat on a cold night.
Thanks John, I'm glad you liked it and that's a very good idea you have for the end triangles. I may dig this out next winter and try it again. Thanks for watching my friend
I am 100% disabled, cannot do a lot of the labor involved, but I do get the knowledge from you and can improvise, nothing wasted, still camping, am inspired, the Wolf from Boston, the hcchang is my wife, she is from China, that’s another story thanks
Thanks Dave and Nick! I actually built and used the one man shelter for four days in freezing weather. I used para-cord and two ground stakes at each end and a ridge line stretched over two crossed pieces of bamboo (dug in at the foot) ,that I also use as trekking poles and shooting sticks, such that the shelter was free standing vs between two trees. This shelter works great!!! I didn't simply "endure the cold" I actually slept great without a fire! This shelter is almost as warm as MSS and is ultimately more water proof and so damn cheap! and it is more versatile to carry because the components can be used in many different ways depending on the season or location. If you are a big guy you can use two moving blankets and the next size up camo tarp 9 x 11 (available at Harbor Freight). You can also avoid sewing eyelets if you want to by using 6" piece of Gorilla tape folded over edge of blanket such that you have a 1 1/2" tab. I had to rush to get my shelter ready for a hunting trip and didn't have time to sew but this expedient actually seems quite adequate. Press the tape on hard then install tarp grommet (grommet kit also available from Harbor Freight.) in tab. Be careful when you apply the tape and make sure it is where you want it because once you put it on you will have to rip the blanket to get it off!
I remember commenting on this cozy option so I scroll down to 2 yrs ago and see my comment from my old account lol. You always have me thinking about moving blankets all the time... forever now. It's not a bad thing.
Lol, great to have your comments! The best thing about moving blankets is you can treat them any abusive way you want to and not worry about it being high dollar gear! Thanks for watching Barry
Great job, as always. Shelters look toasty warm. Simple and practical. Excellent idea with the blanket to absorb condensation. Nice to see Nick back in action...and growin' like a weed! Thanks for taking the time!
+John Portoricani Thanks John! I'm glad you liked it. They are pretty toasty and warm. And cheap, LOL. Its always more fun to have ole Nick around. Take care and Thanks for watching!
Yay! Nick's back! He's a born cameraman like you and I missed him and his funny comments. Those shelters are great and thanks for adding the information about condensation at the end. I was thinking earlier that by morning you might be a couple of soggy little dish rags by morning lol but no, the blankets absorb the condensation. Really well-thought-out setup!
+Stella P. Thanks Stella, I'm glad you liked it. Its always great having Nick back behind the camera. I hear ya on the condensation, it happens a lot with a tarp only set up
I have done a lot of swimming and fishing in the lake. That had a park in the water on the north end of the lake. It had slides and swings and a few other things and they were all out in the water. I ran around that area a lot in the 50's and 60's. We moved to Crestview, Florida where I graduated High School in 69 and went to Guntersville A.F.B. to enlist in the service. A lot of our family still lives in those areas. It was such beautiful country to grow up in. I always look forward to your videos. Thanks
These are great Dave! Ive been using a harbor freight moving blanket on my bed as a comforter and it does the job and its cheap. I tried wishing it once and it started to fall apart, so I doubt it will last me two washings, but for this purpose, I believe they will be fine for en emergency situation. The American one looks like quite a lot more long lasting. My brother in law makes furniture and he uses the real deal stuff and that stuff lasts them decades. But I bet they are a huge amount of money more. For the price though and for this use, you really can't go wrong with either of the two you showed here. And, if you ever did want to replace the harbor freight one, the insides of the old one will be compact tinder!
+traderjoes Thanks Bro! Man Ill say this, I think the ones made by Haul master and sold at Harbor freight are pretty cheap. The ones made by Wel Built or American Moving company are way way better and can actually be washed. Buy the ones with the black stitching next time and see how they last. Thanks for watching
These are brilliant. I wouldn't have thought of moving blankets, but a trip to Harbor Freight would probably give me a better 'bag' than I could buy for the same money anywhere else. I usually end up camping in rainy conditions with minimal gear, so a warm, dry bed makes a world of difference. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Moving blankets are super cheap and pretty rugged. Yes you can buy em at Harbor Freight but if you have a Northern tool, they are a lot lighter weight. www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200511658_200511658 Thanks for watching.
David the butterfly. That made me laugh. Good to see you two out again and to actually see mysterious Nick was a treat. What a nice neck knife you had there, my friend. Good to see it comes to use! Thanks for bringing us with you to show this two excellent shelters.
Good to see Nick behind the camera again..... I have done well with a hammock (plain net hammock), poncho, poncho liner and a space blanket..... slept warm through a snow storm in just those, but I REALLY like your ideas for both the one person and the 2 person shelters and I really like the use of the moving blankets for insulation. Thank you for sharing.........
Its always better having Nick along. Ive done my fair share in a hammock too but ever since I tried a Snugpak Cocoon Ive never went out without it. I'm glad you liked my set up. Thanks for watching
The King is in the House! Great to see you David! Theres Nick Too! :) Water Moccasins in the Winter?? Geeeez! someone needs to tell'em it's too cold! LOL! Always enjoy your shelter videos, David. I like that it's budget friendly, too. I haven't been around lately. Things are pretty hectic here. Take care - Tim
+boggycreekbeast LOL! I think Nick thinks hes king when behind the ole camera. Yep, water moccasins in the winter. I had heard of it before but never believed it. I guess with the weather here it happens. For example, last Tuesday, we had a high of 70 degrees, next Tuesday it will be a high of 38 degrees and snow! I guess our snakes get out and sun when they can. I things slow down and go well for ya brother. Take care and Thanks for watching Tim.
HaHaHa! Good to see him back out with you. David, take this next comment as a compliment, please. That part you said about not being a survivalist, I disagree.
In the forces we used to pile leaves, grass, etc. to make a comfortable bed and this cocoon method has given me some fresh ideas about those old methods. You're an innovator bro. Keep em coming
Leaves work great in certain areas at certain times of the year. In conjunction with a tarp they make a really good bed. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching Joe
Hello my son! Dave, some people here seem to think you are Macgyver or something. You should use his quote of "Stay out of trouble, keep the expenses down and don't get killed." So, that being said, nice move getting away from poisonous snakes. This is similar to your video of long ago but with the added info of the fact that it is insulated and with room for two. I am about to move to the country across from a national forest. Cool, huh? I plan to duplicate your stuff and record it. The twist will be that I am a woman who is nearly 70. LOL I know that will draw the crowds. Glad to hear Nick's voice again. He's a man now and sharp as a razor. Great work, once again. Love Momma GG.
+GG Prepper Hello Momma! LOL, a lot of folks compare me to Macgyver. I say hes a fake TV guy and Im pretty much for real. LOL. I guess I have quite a few of my own good sayings, my fav being "I aint trying to win no beauty contest" Nick says no problems there. LOL. It will be great to see you replicate my stuff. Im looking forward to it. Take care and thanks for watching
Me in the evening : "lets see if there is anything new on Daves channel , bam new vid , download , connect it to the TV , grab some popcorn and I am happy :) " Great vid brother thank you for sharing !
Yeah, it's his movie length vids, you just need some kind of snack while watching him laugh his ass off cos he's out there having fun in the woods, while we're, well, not. Now. Where's the cookies and hot chocolate....?
great ideas big Dave. Great to see Nick again, we'll at least hear him. the 2 man is more appropriate for me since I am a big guy. will have to try this. Good to see you again my friend.
+Galen Long Thanks Galen, I'm glad you liked it. That first one does suck if youre kinda big. The second one is better for being able to actually move around. Take care and Thanks for watching
+Detman101 Oh yes, anytime theres a break in the cold they become active. I had heard it but this was the first time I had seen activity up close in Feb.
+boggycreekbeast I agree, good to hear Nick again where has he been hiding and we got to see part of his face he must be breaking out of camera shyness maybe next time we'll see all his face lol, I also agree, about the bit of being a survivalist but as I have commented a few time about Dave being genius in all out door adventures including the making of outdoor equipment!
Dave this is the first of your videos I've seen where you edited something out. I personally would have loved to have seen you making tracks when the snake surprised you LOL! Is there a way to make this shelter "snake proof" LOL! I'm kidding! Thanks for another great one my friend and keep 'em comin!
LOL, ah man no one wants to see two rugged outdoorsmen running like little girls. You can make the shelter snake proof in three weird ways. Add a bug net over the ends "snakes cant stand the feel of a net for some reason" cover the ends with a blanket or tarp of sprinkle crushed red pepper in a line across the opening. They cant stand thats stuff because their senses are so keen. Stay tuned for more!
Hey thanks Dave I am one of those "I like long videos" guy. really enjoyed this. I could tell Nick was there from the hands and feet. Recognize them any where ha ha. On the first one it seems you could pound in a stake , not a tent stake but a big one to tie off the low end if you only had one tree. Nice to see the team together looking forward to the next one.
+Bruce Ferguson Cool! I guess I like the longer ones too since Im not as time limited during filming and I can just go on and on and on. LOL. Youre right, you could stake off one end of that single person set up. Good thinking! Thanks for watching Bruce.
+Harvey Zearing Ah man yes they will, Rattlesnakes stand their ground but a cottonmouth will actually come after you. These are usually a little more docile in cool weather but I stay away from them!
+Guy sr Oh they are very comfortable. They are Rocky Alpha Force and they come with or without the side zipper. www.amazon.com/Rocky-Alpha-Force-Zipper-Black/dp/B0012FKAMU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455055085&sr=8-1&keywords=rocky+alpha+force+boots
it was great to c Nick behind the camera again. one thing I c wrong with that setup is no one can eat beans and sleep that close. lol. nice rig guys. come and camp in Michigan in the winter. it gets just a little colder here. thanks guys.
+Dennis Cook I always have more fun with Nick around. LOL, leave the beans for the hammock trips so you wont disgust your camp mates. Im used to these mild southern winters. A rough Michigan winter would freeze me! Take care and Thanks for watching
+Grandpa Bill Normally when I film myself the camera sits still. when Nick films, he pans and tilts and it picks up every little creak and pop. I didnt like the noise either when I heard it during editing. We used to argue over that a lot in the past. I probably should have brought a different tripod for him
+Reallybigmonkey1 Hey there, Depending on the video editor you use.... many have the ability to remove select sounds/noises. You just take a sample of the sound and it will remove all of those that match.
I have a project for you if you want it. *evil grin* Suppose you have no gear at all. Just normal household stuff and suddenly -- gasp -- tshtf. Oh no! So how would you survive using JUST the stuff from your home? What could you make a shelter out of? What could you cook with and hunt with? What could you use for protection? What would you take with you from home given a short warning period of say..., four hours, before staying would be too dangerous? Assume you have no vehicle so you have to carry everything. This mission, should you care to accept it, would be very interesting to see. Cue music: Dum. Dum. Dum. Do. Dah. Dah. Cue Tom Cruise appearing like a demented midget on Coke and Crystal Meth: All shiny eyes and excessive energy. To make it really interesting, include a weekend stay in the wild with what you have salvaged from the house.
Great idea! Wait... Stuff from his house would include such 'normal' household items like machete, though night lights, ration packs and NBC suits. Maybe it should be stuff from a neighbours house.....
+InTheNameOfJustice I kinda like that idea! I once had someone suggest doing a SHTF survival escape with nothing but garbage. Both sounds like good future videos!
Always like the way you use trees and tarp and rope set up. Good if you live near the woods. I live in a desert area. But anyone can use this set up. Thanks Dave and Nick great video!
+elpasokid 53 Thank you my friend! Tarps are cheap and rope can do anything you need when trees are nearby. I bet the deserts lack of trees does cut down on shelter options. Thanks for watching
Another great video we at the 1776 looking forward to trying these out.welcome back nick.!!! great to see yall still having fun in the woods. the old buzzard and 1776 love these videos.keep up the great work. gods speed guys.
+cathie spain Thanks Old Buzzard and troop! I have another video coming out soon that shows a multi camper cook rack made in the bush out of wood. Im going to use it with the Scout Trail Master chef cook set. Stay tuned and take care yall!
Dave i am glad you did this video .. Matilda and i appreciate it . Matilda Is my 375 pound girl friend , we had a cold spell here in tn for a few days , and used her as a cover so i would not freeze and she about smother me ,, thank you David you may have saved my life brother ...
Not only do you sculpt stick ends but then chop weight and price off a sleep system, the military would save many $£ off their budget with your model here. Very instructional a life saver, top video and presentation, didn’t realise how much condensate could be reclaimed, 👍😎 gents
+StandsWithABeer Thanks man! Yep, that first one can get you out of the cold in a bad situation. All you need is cordage, some kinda tarp or plastic and a blanket or fabric and it will work.
+Issac Newton Thanks ! I'm glad you liked it. I seem to have more fun with the longer ones, time limits screw up what I like to show. .Things are good here. Take care and Thanks for watching.
Watching your solo videos is almost kind of a meditation for me lol but it's a refreshing variety to see both you and Nick. Good to know he's alive and well.
Went to years later I see this video because I’m new to your channel, love those insulated tarps shelters Dave, they are really cool and I have to say you keep your knife sharp, It’s always a treat watching your videos, say hi to Nick
I like one or two night camps in woods with tent or hammock, wife likes travel trailer with bug screens. Thanks for your videos, lots of good tips over the last two years.
+alfr1 Man I love tents hammosk and tarps. I used to think that travel trailers were only needed in bear territoy. LOL. Get her out in a tent any time you can. Im happy you have picked up tips from me. Take care and Thanks for watching
+Monica Jones Thanks Monica! Yep, it actually works quite well to just be blankets and tarps. Im actually not that clever, if I was I would be on TV. LOL. Take care and Thanks for watching
+CrankyPants LOL, you would have had to been a fly on the wall for years and years. For every good shelter, theres been a ton of lousy shelters. Thanks for watching!
Man so good to see you again it's been a while. Hate when life gets in the way of good times. As always there is something to be learned. Hoping all is well with you and Nick. Stay healthy and be safe. And for God's sake get a haircut. LOL Good to see you.
+Forrest Nettleton Man its always great to be back on here. Yep, life does get into the way. Jobs, chores, overtime eating five times a day. I guess Ill have to add time for a haircut. LOL. Take care and Thanks for watching Forrest!
+Scouting Free Thanks Marc! This works great but any kind of cloth or fabric other than Nylon hung overhead will do the trick too. Take care brother and Thanks for watching
Great video. The 2 man tent is more of a man-woman tent. I can't think of any of of my friends that I would want to be sleeping that close to, especially depending on what we had for supper. 😁. Also if by yourself,. I think that bigger one would be great to put all your gear in out of the weather. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Yeah, not too many cliffs here in Florida. My partner and I were out hunting and the temps that morning got up to about 45 degrees and we came up on a monster diamond back rattler coiled up. He wasn't moving much, but he did strike at us and we struck back with ye olde shotgun. These are a couple of pretty neat shelters. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I was born in Florala, Alabama. Love the scenery and type of woods that were there. t
+dalton vickers I hear ya man, Florida is mostly flat land. We have plenty of hills and valleys here in North Georgia. I think I remember a big lake in Florala that divides Alabama and Florida. Lake Jackson? Im happy you liked the shelters bro. Take care and Thanks for watching Dalton.
@@Reallybigmonkey1Lord, me too! Although they love running into me! I was driving to Dallas from L.A. and stopped in a "pretty" place to eat my sandwich. I sat on a large rock and I DID check for critters. Halfway through my sandwich I discovered I had a nest (?), A LOT, of baby rattlers under a rock I was sitting on, got up to move just in time to see a sidewinder cross about 4 feet on front of me! I just went back to the truck just to collect myself and "expect" more snakes...and spiders while on my trip...😳🙏😫
A couple more super shelters I sure could have used "Back in the Day" when I had scouts qualifying for their Red Flannel Awards. Those things would have been MUCH warmer than those expensive nylon tents and a WHOLE lot cheaper. Thanks for another great video.
+Steve Olsen I hear ya Steve, man them plain nylon tents arent warm at all and some of the prices just shock me. Throw in a high dollar bag and ya got warmth but youre broke. LOL. Thanks for watching
again beautifully made, you have again succeeded, indeed, seems to me a warm shelter, and I think it is warmer and as heavy as the military version, so it is better in my opinion, but especially versatile, thanks for the time you're putted in to, you're a few hours working for us and to show us, I really appreciate it atb Steve
+so steve Thanks Steve, I'm glad you liked it. Ill say the two biggest advantages to this setup is its cheap and you can actually move around in it and change clothes. Ive slept in a warm bivy at night only to awake to change clothes out in the open in the freezing woods and that sucked! LOL. Thanks for watching.
I love the towel/condensation idea - think how refreshing it would be to have that damp towel to wipe your face and sponge bath with it, before you even face the world!
great video, i like the longer ones, more time for you to do what you gotta do, means more fun for us to watch. i also like your cooking ones... love food in the great outdoors. keep up the good work.
+Guy Nickerson Thanks Guy ! I'm glad you liked it. I love filming the longer ones, I hate being pushed for time. I have another cooking one coming up soon with an all new designed tree grill! Stay tuned Guy!
Hello again David. Nice to see a new video ... it was really interesting. I thought it good using a system that wont break the bank and maybe help new comers to our ways. As usual Brother you take care and stay well .... Jim
Those harbor freight camo Moveing blankets are so useful and are vary warm! They are a lil heavy but I just deal with it, and only 11$, good call on those buddy!! Thanks for a great vid!
They are cheap and handy. I'll also have to add, the ones at Harbor freight are pretty heavy but the ones I bought several years back at Northern tool were half the weight but the same price. I have no idea if they still carry them. Take care and Thanks for watching Josh
+Deborah Chandler LOL, youre right Deb! Some Community or Mello Joy always hits the spot. Good hearing from ya as always. Take care and Thanks for stopping by.
Dave is one of the most creative people in bushcraft. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Thank you Mark! I'm always happy to share brother
The idea behind both shelters is great!
Thank you my brother!
Stay safe and keep having fun!
Thanks Brother! I'm glad you liked them both!
Its delightful to watch you w your son. You're a patient & thorough teacher!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Two more Nobel Prize winning shelters! Glad to see Nick again and hear his voice. Cheers!
+John W MacDonald Thanks John, I'm glad you liked em both. Its always more fun to have Nick along. Thanks for watching man!

I consider my self well versed in bushcraft and camping, yet I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos! Great job.
Thank you! Its always great to hear that my friend!
So glad to see Nick again! You two make an awesome team! This was a great video. Thanks to the both of you for sharing your ideas with us.
+First of many Hands Its always more fun for me to have good ole Nick around. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
I am 100% disabled, cannot do a lot of the labor involved, but I do get the knowledge from you and can improvise, nothing wasted, still camping, am inspired, the Wolf from Boston, the hcchang is my wife, she is from China, that’s another story thanks

Fantastic to hear that my friend

We don't have a Northern nearby, but I'll look into how much extra they might want to ship a couple.
👍's up and enjoyed. And may the blessings of the Lord be upon you all.
+Randy Parker Thank you Randy, I'm glad you liked it and may the Lord be with you too brother.
Mr. Pearson, you truly are the Sultan of Shelters! And, YAY, Nick is back!!
+pbshelleygirl Thank you! Its always more fun for me when Nicks around. Take care and Thanks for watching
David the butterfly. That made me laugh. Good to see you two out again and to actually see mysterious Nick was a treat.
What a nice neck knife you had there, my friend. Good to see it comes to use!
Thanks for bringing us with you to show this two excellent shelters.
+Gullrica LOL, Nick and his witty comments. A very experienced and smart bushcrafter gave me that knife. :) Take care now and Thanks for watching!

Inspirational and awesome!
+Detman101 Thanks! Im just doing what I love!
I was so very happy to see an episode with Nick again. I have missed him being in with you.
+SpiritofWildWings Man it was great having him along. Its always more fun with ole Nick around!
It’s nice to go back and watch the older videos
Thanks for watching them my friend
Thanks for sharing I just love your videos 👍🐾🐾
+Drew Lucero Thank you Drew!
Thank God you created a RUclips channel! Thanks for your work
I'm glad you like it Andrew!
Love your videos, so glad to see you and your son again. Your hair looks great btw. 😉
Thanks Magda!
its good to see the two you are up to your usual antics!!
+Damon Hart We always have a great time together Damon!
Me in the evening : "lets see if there is anything new on Daves channel , bam new vid , download , connect it to the TV , grab some popcorn and I am happy :) "
Great vid brother thank you for sharing !
could not have said that any better.. luv watching me some FITW.. starring David & Nick
Yeah, it's his movie length vids, you just need some kind of snack while watching him laugh his ass off cos he's out there having fun in the woods, while we're, well, not.
Now. Where's the cookies and hot chocolate....?
+HF Survival School LOL, Thanks brother!
+lisa norwood Thanks Lisa!
+alexarcano LOL, Break out the hot chocolate brother!
great ideas big Dave.
Nice video on this type of tent enclosure pretty cool. : )
Thanks Danny!
Need to stock up on those moving blankets now
since winter is coming back around again
Really love THESE ❤️💓 videos
Thanks again 😊😊
Sounds good to me and thanks Trish!
HOLY CRAP!!!
I didn't know that about snakes! Thanks for the heads-up...that's truly scary!!!
:[
+Detman101 Oh yes, anytime theres a break in the cold they become active. I had heard it but this was the first time I had seen activity up close in Feb.
Awesome David, I always learn something. I have been missing Nick. It was good to have him back.
+Leslie Hunt Thanks Leslie, Im glad you liked it. Its always a lot more fun for me when Nick is around. Take care and Thanks for watching girl!
Talk to you later little brother.
Great video. Glad to see Nick back with you. Stay warm
+Nathan Tanner Thanks Nathan, I'm glad you liked it. Its always more fun for me to have Nick along. Thanks for watching.
Reallybigmonkey1 - LOL that is exactly what people want to see.
What a team. You like to make the longer ones and I like to watch them. ha ha
I had a cottonmouth chase me all the way down the creek one time . I had no idea they would do that . Wish I had my shotgun with me at the time . lol
+Harvey Zearing Ah man yes they will, Rattlesnakes stand their ground but a cottonmouth will actually come after you. These are usually a little more docile in cool weather but I stay away from them!
Come on man!
You must have had a knife! :)
Camp in MN. You don't have to worry about that. :)
Buy low and sell high. Thanks for the video, the entertainment and the knowledge.
Lol, thanks for watching George
What brand of boots are you wearing? they look comfortable and I like the zipper on the side.
Hey Nick, Loosen the locks on the tripod -- there's way to much popin' noises
Or splurge on a steadycam Jr. 😉
+Grandpa Bill I agree!
That popping noise is drive me nuts.
It's almost unwatchable with that noise.
+Grandpa Bill I think it is the lens cap flopping around on its tether.
Another great idea and nice shelter. Looking forward to the next video with you and Nick.
+Fred Sullivan Thanks Fred, I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully Nick will do a few more with me.Thanks for watching
I have a project for you if you want it.
*evil grin*
Suppose you have no gear at all.
*****
Perhaps I should have said, household items found in a normal house. Lol. He is a very smart man, he knows exactly what I mean.
+InTheNameOfJustice I kinda like that idea! I once had someone suggest doing a SHTF survival escape with nothing but garbage. Both sounds like good future videos!
+alexarcano LOL, I hear ya. My basement kinda looks like an Army Navy thrift store combo.
+Sipseyhiker Some folks dont have the kinda stuff we all have. I think he meant my house is way more full of gear and supplies than most.
Great video. As a fifty something hammock camper and new to you tube, great to see a fix for insulation.
Thanks for sharing.
Greg
+Greg Stritch Thanks Greg, I'm happy you liked it. I bet you have some great ideas and memories yourself! Thanks for watching
The only survival show that was any good was Survivor Man.
+NAHAAFB I agree 100%. Les Stroud is about as real as it can get.
That guy that runs around barefoot just bugs me.
I agree with y'all 200 percent and if you run around barefoot your feet get accustomed to it and get thicker
Cool video, David. Glad to see Nick with you. Thanks for the lesson.
+RDLaw88 Thanks, Im glad you liked it. Its always more fun for me when Nicks along
This was a fantastic shelter (1person) to learn to use!!! Thank you for showing how to make it! I'll watch 2 person shelter later....
You are very welcome and I'm glad you liked it!
Dave i am glad you did this video .. Matilda and i appreciate it . Matilda Is my 375 pound girl friend , we had a cold spell here in tn for a few days , and used her as a cover so i would not freeze and she about smother me ,, thank you David you may have saved my life brother ...
+Lucky B Uh, yer welcome dude?
ROFLMFAO ...
David i had to do that . i wish i could have seen you face ..... as you read this ..
Not only do you sculpt stick ends but then chop weight and price off a sleep system, the military would save many $£ off their budget with your model here. Very instructional a life saver, top video and presentation, didn’t realise how much condensate could be reclaimed, 👍😎 gents
Thanks! I'm glad you liked my system!
Hey Nick I think it's great that you spend time with your dad
Thanks Frank.
Two more really good, sensible shelters. That first one is a real lifesaver for a lone camper. Thanks again! :)
+StandsWithABeer Thanks man! Yep, that first one can get you out of the cold in a bad situation. All you need is cordage, some kinda tarp or plastic and a blanket or fabric and it will work.
Once again another awesome shelter video Dave brother you are the king of shelters good to see Nick out again
take care brother
Atb Alan
+Alan Hoyt aka:BudgetBushCrafter Thanks Alan, I'm glad you liked it. Its always better with ole Nick back around. Thanks for watching!
great to see you back out with Nick and on film great job dude great vid Dave
+kabaruser Thanks Tom! Man its always more fun with ole Nick around. Take care and Thanks for watching!
+Reallybigmonkey1 hey Dave know any new B.c might need some stuff ?
There's the hour long sagas that I know, and love. Thanks for another wonderful video Dave. Hope things are going well for you.
+Issac Newton Thanks ! I'm glad you liked it. I seem to have more fun with the longer ones, time limits screw up what I like to show. .Things are good here. Take care and Thanks for watching.
So nice to have a buddy that can film for you.😎
Oh I agree! It makes it much easier
As always, love your videos, and esp. when your son is in them! Building great memories.
Thanks Earl, I'm glad you like em all. Some of my best memories are of my son and I in the woods. Thanks for watching
Watching your solo videos is almost kind of a meditation for me lol
but it's a refreshing variety to see both you and Nick. Good to know he's
alive and well.
+ShrimpsTonic LOL, its almost like a meditaive state for me being in the woods! Its always fun to have Nick along too. Thanks for watching
Went to years later I see this video because I’m new to your channel, love those insulated tarps shelters Dave, they are really cool and I have to say you keep your knife sharp, It’s always a treat watching your videos, say hi to Nick
Thank you Joy! Nick says Hi.
Thanks again Nick and Dave. You guys are AWESOME.
You are very welcome and thanks for watching John
Awesome Video! Im always inspired by your shelter builds. Thumbs up!
+upnorthof60 Thank you my friend! You can never have too many shelter designs! LOL. Take care and Thanks for watching
that's some good information for shelters with good tips. Looks like Nick is growing like a weed, getting tall. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
+tooterr101 oldgeezer Thanks ! I'm glad you liked it. Nick is really growing, it costs a fortune to feel that dude. LOL.Thanks for watching.
+Reallybigmonkey1 I understand that one I'm just really glad that I don't eat like I used to. I would not be able to afford me.
Why, that looks like it would really work. Love it. You are very clever Dave. I love you videos. I like this simple design.
+Monica Jones Thanks Monica! Yep, it actually works quite well to just be blankets and tarps. Im actually not that clever, if I was I would be on TV. LOL. Take care and Thanks for watching
Your just undiscovered. We have you exclusively
Never seen a cocoon like this before .. I love it. Can't wait to give it a go.
Thanks Joe! I'm glad you liked it
I would love to be a fly on the wall watching you come up with these shelters.
+CrankyPants LOL, you would have had to been a fly on the wall for years and years. For every good shelter, theres been a ton of lousy shelters. Thanks for watching!
Fun in the Woods. Thanks you Dave and Nick. Is really like How it is Nice and dark in the tent. Get up when you want 😇
Sometimes during camp outs I'll sleep 10 to 12 hours. Lol. Way better than being at work or at home. Thanks for watching
Watching this reminds me of on of my favorite places. John's Mountain and The Pocket Recreation Area in Georgia. Thanks for the great videos.
Very cool! I'm actually within driving distance of John's mountain! I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching
Great video Dave, the two layer idea with a breathable inside layer really is the way to go to avoid condensation! Thanks for sharing, Cheers, Marc
+Scouting Free Thanks Marc! This works great but any kind of cloth or fabric other than Nylon hung overhead will do the trick too. Take care brother and Thanks for watching
great info my friend. loved the video and its good to see Nick back
+Rick “USA1RICK” Lindsey Thanks Brother Rick!, I'm glad you liked it. Man its always great to have Nick back around. Thanks for watching
Good to see you back behind the camera buddy! Great video.
+Smoky Mountain Outdoors Always great to be back on here with Nick, Thanks for watching Brother!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Lol, yeah I guess I dont see two camping buddies wanting to be this close. Thanks for watching
Take care and Thanks for watching Dalton.
nice like it simple and easy, also nice to see Nick back he has grown he dwarfs you now ha. loving it all good man.
+Simon Smith Thanks Simon, I'm glad you liked it. LOL, Nick is getting to be a big ole boy! Thanks for watching
Bub you are the Macgyver of the woods! Love watch your vids, very helpful and outside the box thinking!!
+SUFFICIENT SURVIVAL Thank you my friend! Always great to hear that!
Cottonmouth! Good Lord! Ran into ONE when it was cold on our way to Texas while we were fishing...I didn't know I could hold my breath so long!
I hate running into them snakes!
Wow! What a way to ruin lunch!
@@Reallybigmonkey1 😂 yup! 🤔😳💨💨💨
Glad Nick is back. Another cool video!
Its always great to have Nick back! He should be filming more with me this summer. Thanks for watching!
Hi Nick
Another great entertaining and educational video. You keep the ideas comming, long or short videos - I love them
+Dr. Ron Goldstein Thank you Dr. ron! We are both happy you like it. Lots more to come and I hope Nick is in more! Thanks for watching
Great job Nick, good to see you in the woods.....
+BUNNY JAMES Nick says thanks and we both say Thanks for watching Bunny!
Is Nick camera shy lol
+BUNNY JAMES LOL, I think he is. He still doesnt want to be 100% on camera
Aww come on Nick..lol..Your just as handsome as dad !!!!
LOL. Thanks for watching
again beautifully made, you have again succeeded, indeed, seems to me a warm shelter, and I think it is warmer and as heavy as the military version, so it is better in my opinion, but especially versatile, thanks for the time you're putted in to, you're a few hours working for us and to show us, I really appreciate it
atb
Steve
+so steve Thanks Steve, I'm glad you liked it. Ill say the two biggest advantages to this setup is its cheap and you can actually move around in it and change clothes. Ive slept in a warm bivy at night only to awake to change clothes out in the open in the freezing woods and that sucked! LOL. Thanks for watching.
i know what you mean LOL
I love the towel/condensation idea - think how refreshing it would be to have that damp towel to wipe your face and sponge bath with it, before you even face the world!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked that little tip. Thanks for watching Stephany!
Good to see you again! Thanks for the video😊
+JanJandles Always great to be on here, thanks for watching Jan!
great video, i like the longer ones, more time for you to do what you gotta do, means more fun for us to watch. i also like your cooking ones... love food in the great outdoors. keep up the good work.
Jim
+Jim T Thanks Jim, Good to hear from you and I'm glad you liked it. Cheap is always a good way to go! Thanks for watching
I really like that "2 man tarp system" that's kind of cool 👍
It's a fun one to sleep in! Thanks for watching Sheila!
Green has always been my face. Olive in any shade is awesome.
Cool, I love olive drab!
That's a fine piece of Tarpology. enjoyed your video as usual.
Thank you Tony!
I'm so impressed with your shelter...
I'm ordering a Tent right now ..lol...
+dsldg2 LOL, Not that impressed? thanks for watching
I watch and enjoy all your videos... the Tent comment was my idea of a joke...
that's British humour for you .....lol...
+dsldg2 LOL, I get it bro. Hard to tell on youtube since everything is typed.
100,000 views!!! That is so awesome Dave! I'm proud of you brother
Thanks Joel!
All you need is more Louisiana coffee! great video my friend!!
+Deborah Chandler LOL, youre right Deb! Some Community or Mello Joy always hits the spot. Good hearing from ya as always. Take care and Thanks for stopping by.
