      @@lephtovermeet We are living in a self-regulating, perfect system with rational actors and fair rules that never get exploited. Really glad that our system is so perfect, that companies never break the law while becoming too big to fail. On the other hand, the country that lacks the rule of law and political freedoms is open sourcing their models, which is honestly a great move.

    The thumbnail of this video is completely wrong. The whole reason people are so surprised by this is because it is a completely new innovation built using different techniques which made the model much cheaper. It is by no means a copy paste of openAI. People working at openAI were dumbfounded that a model could be this powerful while also being this inexpensive. This is a completely new innovation and deserves a huge amount of credit.. they have achieved something none of the companies here have. If it was just a copy paste no one would care..

      People are focused on the first story because it's the funny one. They really did use existing language models to train Deepseek, and of course only started trying because OpenAI showed that it can be done.
      Them having done it so much better is the larger and more important story, but children on TikTok are focused on "AI bad/doesn't work" so the fact that it has, in the short run, hurt existing AI companies is all they care about.

I'd argue your data is safer in China, because at least China seems to have some restrictions on who they sell data to. American tech companies will gladly sell to Iran, to Russia, Israel (by the way, if you're verified, Israel has a file on you, with your ID, photo, as well as linked social medias). Sam Altman's Worldcoin was selling all the biometric data it gathered to China, and they even talked about how this data selling was impossible to stop. So I wouldn't let the Chinese data collection stop you. American companies are mad that Chinese companies are undercutting them by gathering the data themselves, rather than buying them off of Meta (who will gladly sell it).

He had always been in obscurity until recently, when the development of DeepSeek R1 attracted the attention of the industry. In a previous interview, he said that he developed DeepSeek out of interest, not for making money. So in other words ChatGPT and Deepseek are restaurants. ChatGPT employs one chef to multitask a meal to be prepped, cooked and plated. While Deepseek employs a head chef that trains a sous chef who is also helped by other cooks in the kitchen to either prep, cook, and eventually plate the requested dish.

    China is anti-scarcity while the US is pro-scarcity
    And here we see a public clash of ideals.
    Within country borders it's always been this case. You can get on the HSR for $10 instead of buy a plane ticket for $250.
    Same with fresh food
    Same with internet
    Same with rent
    US misjudged China's advancement because their companies don't make as much profit, but thats because you need scarcity to create profit.

    How can it be a copy if its better than the competition? Also it requires less hardware power and most of the competition uses super hardwares.

    • @toddjohnson7572
      @toddjohnson7572 13 часов назад

      It's not copied code. It's copied information of it's responses on questions their system would ask ChatGPT -- which is the same as "scraping" data from google. But getting more info from ChatGPT. And it didn't get all of it's information that way. But helped get more information that way more swiftly. Same what all other AI models scraped information across the web, but instead, purposely going into chatGPT. Although I think Microsoft got caught doing so early on with theirs.

    • @badongtagalog5737
      @badongtagalog5737 2 часа назад

      @ again if that answer is as easy as copied information how come the source of info needs ton of hardware power and china doesnt. Thing would be easy if we just accept the fact that they got it right and big US companies didnt. The world is a better place if we acknowledge that fact. What really is funny is that US practice unfair competition by crippling them disallowing them to use the best HW in the world yet they did it. Its not about US and china. Its about accepting fact that other race are as talented as US engineers.

    It’s terrifying how many and how quickly people are using their AI chats as primary sources. I’ve found several mistakes just in that google AI that shows up automatically, but people are taking the info as the word of god. And it happened extremely, frighteningly quickly. We’re already in a literary and critical thinking crisis, I’m terrified to think where this will take our society within just the next 10 years. Not to mention the collapse of our country when all of the jobs are gone and the government runs and hides in their bunkers because they don’t know how to solve the issue they allowed to happen with lack of protective legislation.

At 8:15, you note that the story of DeepSeek's founder, Liang Wenfeng, is an interesting story in its own right, and you then ask if we'd like an episode on that topic. I'll vote YES to that. Maybe you could also include something on other key members of the team - especially Luo Fuli (the "girl genius" at DeepSeek), or even, for context, add some info re some other brilliant founders and entrepreneurs of today's blossoming Chinese tech giants.
