It was extremely bitter, as a newbie I did not know you are supposed to boil the methi first in salt water and then cook, I just followed the recipe above.

No you are just supposed to clean it nicely. And this Is not the ideal season for Methi.. It will be more bitter .. Winter is when you get less bitter Methi. Also don't boil.
