  • Although this is not the most astounding performance, I wanted to share this recording of my original work; it is significant because it is only the second piece, of the many that I have written, that shows signs of my musical voice emerging and so clearly communicates the subject matter that I can understand exactly what the music speaks of-almost to the point of hearing words.
    The serenade was written in a little over a month, to meet a deadline, and it had caused me much frustration, but I am glad that I wrote it because it showed me a new way of composing. Even a month after its completion, it still retains secrets which I am trying to uncover. I thought that this was worth sharing because there is certainly an inherent beauty in this short, imperfect piece, and I can only hope that others are able to discover it!

    Very nice work! The only thing is, shouldn't it be played by the English horn? It can give soft and stable sound of lowest B and maybe more passionate sound of upper notes.

      @georgy_anisko This was a consideration I made after I had already completed the piece. I feel the Oboe d’amore would be a better fit though because it sits much more comfortably in the range of this piece-the english horn would probably sound more strained on the higher notes honestly.

    Someone forgot to tune their oboe with the piano I think... Otherwise very nice composition, the structure seems pretty solid and we can really feel the emotion you want to transmit. There also seems to be some kind of motive that comes back often, which makes your piece easily recognisable. Great job!

      @@trejey I appreciate the comment and, yeah, I’ve definitely been thinking about re-recording this piece. We only had one take to get it right. It’s on my to-do-list.

    WOW!!! I've first seen this channel from the Wacky pieces list, and this is 1st serious composition from you I've sat down and listened to. I am still stunned by the sheer beauty of this piece! One thing which I'm curious about, will it sound good on a French Horn too ? like I can see that some notes might look too high, but if I remember correctly, Ravel's G Maj. Concerto also has a Horn melody that high. What do you think ?

    • @GorechierComposer
      @GorechierComposer  19 дней назад

      @@thewaltzingpiano It could possibly work on the french horn, but you would need a professional player to execute it properly because the melody consistently sits in the high register of the french horn and demands a certain sensitivity that would require a lot of finesse to achieve without damaging the overall character, let alone the intonation difficulties that would arise. The trumpet would be a better, and less strenuous, fit overall.

      @@GorechierComposer hmm... That's actually a very valid point... what about lowering it by one octave, and doubling it on the flute one octave + plus another an octave and a third higher ? would make for a very interesting sound color

      @ At that point, I would just be writing an orchestral arrangement which I’ve thought about doing lately👀
