This is a massive title for MMO starved consoles..BUT. amazon needs to capitalize on the momentum. Matchmade dungeon content needs to be a heavy focus going forward, with a good endgame progression system.
Dungeon content is perfect for console players.

I have 509 hours in the past month or so before aeternum and was near max GS. It was still fun and addicting. Looked forward to playing every day. I enjoy the Kate game content. It wasn’t present at launch. It’s a new game with the best part of the bones of the game from launch.

Had the day off and spent most of it playing. Got to level 30 and did a bunch of gathering/crafting to break up the grind. Back to work tomorrow so won't be putting in 12+ hours tomorrow lol

Feels so good to have people playing again and there's one massive difference that I personally feel from the first go around... Players are happy. Original launch was so unbelievably toxic that it caused so many people to quit, myself included. I came back later after most of the complainers had fallen off and that's when I was able to start having some real fun with the game.
It saddens me and I'm embarrassed when I see fellow PC players insulting and taking shots at console players just for being on console. Especially when most of the console players I have met are genuinely enjoying the game and breathing new life back into it. These tumors who can't seem to move on and are still wasting their time to log in, sit around complaining, and trying to make other peoples experience as miserable as theirs. I just hope they don't succeed in souring anyone's experience because this game is at its best when people are working together and just being cool.

Played since day one in Steam. Decided to get it for my New Xbox X - hoping for a satisfying experience. As an old guy, I tend to be less picky about many things - but controls are the main thing for me. I tend to play solo more so the single player with some MP is good for me. I’ve been playing for a year before the recent update, and I’m enjoying it a lot, especially with more peeps to play music with and eventually PVP and some group content. Side note: I have been testing a Musket/Bow debuff class, I’m enjoying way to much, the seamless switching from musket to bow to stack fire debuffs then land a poison, hit some knock back and an evade shot, it’s killer, some will argue it’s redundant but you really gotta mess with the skill trees, a lot of potential to mix and match.

I've played over 1000 hours on this game... and it's fantastic. It had a lot of problems at launch time, because it wasn't ready. The development team were rookies in MMORPGs and they had to pay their toll, but amazon, slowly but steadily, fixed all the quirks and added content along this 3 years, and the state of the game today is much much better and awesome.
The bad part is that it got a lot of bad reputation due to the early bugs, the lack of content, the missing storyline and lore, and the grinding that you had to do in the early versions, and that has taken a big toll creating a "intenret opinion" that the game was crap from the people who left early. It's a pity because for me it's one of the best MMORPG I've seen, and now that they're gearing towards making it more solo-friendly and aRPG, for me is even better...
One of the main problems with this game has been the server capacity... at launch, every server supported only 2000 people, so they had loads of servers. But when people started to leave the game because of the reasons I already spoke about, servers started to have 100 or 200 active players at a given time, and it looked like a dead game. Then Amazon started to merge servers, but when they published new contents, they had new players peaks, and had to split and add servers again... and that's been a pain in the ass. It seems the servers support 4000 players now. Making cross-server activities (dungeons, arenas, etc...) has made it also easier to find people for group content. Let's hope the numbers keep up and we can enjoy the game.
Kudos, nice review. Let's hope good reviews like this start to happen and the game gains on playerbase, because even if it's now more solo-content oriented, it sill needs players to move things, since most of the source for items is crafting and the auction house, and those won't work if there are no people playing.
I think it's in a great place to move forward.
First time playing this game via launch. I chose an occultist as I love doing magic. The graphics are amazing was blown away. I think you can level up sort of quick

Played the beta with my gf last month and by the end of it I KNEW I needed to buy it when it came out lol bought it last night, loving it. I feel like they changed a few things around, compared to the beta. So far so good.

Im thinking of getting this game just have few questions.. Can you party up with other players and go hunting/killing for exp and items? Ia the teleporting for free or you have to have buy them separately in the game to use? Also can you reset your skill tree?
Respecs free to level 60, can group with friends, can hunt/kill/harvest/craft to level up, TPing uses a currency you earn by playing.

It'll get better now that they multiplied the player base. Brilliant move by Amazon. I'm sure content will be added like ESO which will bring even more players. Loved the Beta and having a blast.

Played since launch then played on and off again the past 3 years. I picked up again last month and haven't been able to put it down I'm almost 62 just finished the main quest. I've been crafting a ton and gathering. I don't know if you are giving yourself enough time I'm a month in and still have tons to do. I have spent alot of time gathering materials. I've got 105 hours in so far. I got to play the new update like changes only complaint I have is the 16:9 aspect when it was 21:9 Other than that enjoying it.

This game looks pretty cool. I might have to pick it up at some point. Im currently replaying Baldurs Gate 3 at the moment because why not, and it's so good. It's so good. Im just blown away when I play it. It's such a great game. It's art. I've been in the mood for BG3 after playing Rogue Trader. Dragon Age is coming up! Game on gamers. Be good to each other out there.

I came back after launch and i agree and said the same thing.. if this launched with this as the final product it would be properly the most popular MMO on the market. Only thing that annoyed me is the Auto-lock system, shouldn’t be in this game in my opinion they need to take it out the game completely. It only works with tab MMO games.
every single action RPG I've ever played, and that's hundreds at this point, has a target-locking feature.

@@brasso4984 And yet it's NOT a "heavily focused PVP game". It's a PVE action rpg with 100% optional PVP arena/outpost modes that make up LESS than 5% of the total content available in the game.
@@Renfail where you got 5% from? Settlements is heavily focused on PvP, forts is heavily focused on PvP. It a massive portion of the game. Not saying it doesn’t have PvE but it is a heavily focused on PvP the whole point of settlement faction vs faction war, forts, gaining occupied land etc so having a auto lock system in PvP is the wrong move simple as.
NWA is actually really good. And I didn’t like the original. It finally feels like the game it was meant to be.

I really liked New World during the beta. But I had performance issues and I really don’t like paying for MMO’s. (it’s still an MMO) thrones of liberty has been great. if it goes on sale during Christmas, maybe.

I played OG New World on launch, and it always felt like the coziest MMO I’ve ever played. Cons were:
Unfinished endgame. Poor quest design. Bad nerfs and patches such as Expertise and Skill exp being redesigned 1 month into the game: they let the hardcore players keep their 600 ‘watermark’ gear and their easily obtained maxed out Skills, and placed everyone else at the bottom of a very unforgiving curve. Making a huge separation between the Haves and the Have-Nots. This was one of the big things that killed the game for me and others. Established guilds ruled every server/zone/economy and casuals be damned.
With Aeternum it seems like none of these issues exist. The questing is phenomenally better.
The endgame has been established and polished.
Everyone gets to start on the same playing field and (hopefully) there won’t be any controversial community-splitting updates.
The edition of archetypes is a hugely underrated W because one of the worst grinds of New World was that initial 1-50 mining/skinning/armoring/etc. everything prior to lvl 50 on skills is just a meaningless chore.
Now you pick an archetype and get 2 skill auto boosted to 50 so you can immediately get stuck in to meaningful progression. And of course you’re given the weapons and armor you need: it makes it feel balanced in the most refreshing way

Got the update when I got home from work played for about 2 1/2 hours. I love the ESO vibe they got going for it while the game feels like fable, but plays like a modernized World of Warcraft.

The distinction between an MMO and an ARPG with optional group play is completely lost on me. Do you not see random players while in the game world? That’s MMO. Can you solo when you feel like it? Also still MMO. Campaign missions? Still MMO. The fact that cross-play is so heavily emphasized also speaks to the same thing. What am I missing here ?
They are just trying to pivot to a new audience and trying to save the game. Maybe they found in market research that MMOs often don't do good on console but ARPGs do so they are trying to repackage it to gain a new audience

Apart from swimming and adding in a few new cutscenes has anything actually changed ? have they added a bunch of new content especially late game as there was none before with the exception of pvp and dungeons

@@D.Snuttsthere’s trials, expeditions, solo trials, raids, and also mutated expeditions for a harder play through. Housing is always fun. PvP needs more arenas but is still great fun. They have a new solo open world PvP zone. How much more end game do you need?
@@coreybroussard5264these things have always been there though lmao. Well versed in them cause it's literally content that has been around the last 2 -3 years. New opr map? Or do they insist that the one end game activity always happens on the same map we have played since the game came out?

First impressions on Xbox : Gameplay is fun so overall I do like the game so far. Now for the negatives, something is off graphically on Xbox at least, it has a washed out blurriness to it that if I’m honest left me with a headache after a couple of hrs. I messed with the couple of settings that are available (increased bandwidth, set to 4K) and it is abit better but is still off and this will impact my personal enjoyment of the game unfortunately, secondly why Amazon couldn’t have language servers is beyond me, the chat is so full of various languages that any conversation gets lost in a sea of foreign waffle and I actually got maxed out on creating characters because I was desperately trying to find a eu server that was prominently English speaking (had no success).
All in all I’m actually alittle disappointed if I’m honest but all my complaints are not actually gameplay complaints, the game is good it the performance and server decisions that have ruined my initial impression.
Graphics are weird on PS5 for me too, many others have said the same too on consoles. Everything else I agree with on this review 👍

Yes. Need to be level 25 to do the pass on any platform
25 is minimum level to do the battle pass

It's a requirement if you want to play online on the Xbox. Same as PS Plus is required to play on PS5.

Look at what Thrones and libery did...Yeah it's a pay to win game like all asian games but it's bombarded with great content tbh.
I think for now the 3 interesting games are: WoW, FF14, Diablo4 (not bad actually the new citadel) and Throne and Liberty despite the P2W and overwhelming systems.

@@Renfail Nah we play the same games, that's why you get recommended here. What I mean is in PC launch of the New World, they opened hundread of servers with a cap of 2 - 4k players and after 2 weeks, half of those servers died. As someone who enjoys all kind of content, it became really difficult to do any group content when server only had 200 players at prime time. You maybe never had that problem if you played on popular server or never touched group content, but many people did.
But now many of the features have cross server functions, so should not be as big problem.
How is the player base going to be over 10k when there is no end game content? After Christmas it will be half of what it is now. AGS made the game good for playing it 10 weeks max. After is just wars where 99% of the players will not experience Cz of players that played wars for 3 years. AGS only makes updates for casuals and casuals can only enjoy new content max 10 weeks if u start the game now and 2-4 weeks if ur a casual with 3k + hours. But let’s see what AGS will give us next Cz for me in the last 3 years haven’t got anything new that I enjoy. Is same game wars and nothing else.

My biggest concern is they bailed on the roadmap for one. Kinda left PC players in the dark with lack of updates, then moved on to this with no road map either. The game itself is ok. IDK I could nit pick like the cut scenes, from now to before now the character models kinda look like garbage. Like the kinda just threw it together. Like the faces look weird as in someone lacked skill in that dept or they rushed it. So time will tell if this was just another ploy to make as much as they can off what they have then if it goes well maybe they decide to add content and a roadmap. Amazon in all reality just sucks at running a game. They themselves ruined their own game.

Since xbox is forcing me to get a subscription after i already bought the game...which i still think that sucks for us, i guess i am going to drop 10 bucks a month to be able to play games i already bought. So im looking forward to jumping into this today. I will not be dropping more money on a fuckin battlepass...i think this is just ridiculous how they milk more and more money out of you every time you turn around.
You ALSO have to pay to play on the Playstation. That's the cost of using their networks. If you don't want to pay a sub, you can play the PC version directly through Amazon and it's simply buy to play (no monthly sub). It's been in their FAQ page since DAY ONE of the Aeternum marketing.

While this is all good, there has been a fan base for this game of people who have been waiting and waiting and stayed loyal to the game. To say that it doesn’t matter is a huge disrespect to that community because console now gets it. All the hours put into characters to have to start over again because you couldn’t make the game playable at launch 3 years ago? SMH it’s crazy what people say when you get paid to play a game.

But it doesn't matter. Games release with things with problems all the time. The fact is it's just had a lot of TLC and console players can experience the better version. Starting again in a game that almost feels new is great for mmos.

@@Renfailsure when they sponsor your video. What you fail to realize is they’ve already had a relaunch with brimstone after they lost 90% of the player base and used a similar strategy to now. You’d know if you were around for 3 years 😊

Well tbh amazon just didn't have a view of what the game was. They had a bit of event but not alot of content of any kind of.(also when it first came out it had a feel of a survivor/pvp grind game not an actual mmo) Now after a few years they added huge amount of content and made it for console with cross play. If you want detailed list then might be better to watch/ search old release info.
transmog costs IRL money
You can earn it in-game as well, so that's up to you if you want to spend IRL money or not.
Gating transmog behind anything that isn't standard main currencies (usually gold) just sucks.
