The First Female Marines From MCRD San Diego | Pt. 1

- Опубликовано: 21 окт 2021
- On Feb. 9, 2021, dozens of female recruits stepped off buses and onto the iconic yellow footprints alongside hundreds of male recruits in front of the receiving barracks at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. In a historic first, the women of Platoon 3241, Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, completed the Marines’ 13-week recruit training cycle as members of the first gender-integrated company to be trained at the West Coast installation, graduating in May.
When Congress passed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, it included in the legislation a prohibition against gender-segregated recruit training at both of the Corps’ recruit depots. Until this year, the Marines sent all males west of the Mississippi River to San Diego, and all males east of the river to Parris Island. Congress has given the service until 2025 to fully integrate training at Parris Island, and until 2028 to do the same at MCRD San Diego.

The Marines already did a proof of concept and learned the combined male and female forces do not preform better. The politicians ignored the study....so here we are. So sad .
To say that they’re integrated is a little far-fetched The real issue here was, Paris island was the only depot that could produce female marines . Now we have two training facilities that can produce both female and male Marines.
Paris Island and San Diego
The training standards for instance the PFT and CFT have not lowered. They’re still different between male and female Marines. The training that comes after bootcamp, has also been integrated long before it became news.
The only real differences now is opening up SOI to females and allowing them to join infantry roles without compromising any standards.
@@MrMikevargas1 The Marine Corps has downsized by 15000 troops since 2010 and going to continue to keep down sizing, in a branch that has the lowest number of females out of all branches. Its pretty obvious this isn't so they can produce more female Marines.
@@hottakeswithpancakes774 So the remor is, it was so less women can get it. They never had women at MCRD SD because of the hills and the hikes. Many of the female marines came off the reaper with injuries- injuries they said they would get before. And them going to SOI west with the mountains and hikes are waaay worse. Lima Co at SOI was getting filled with them lol. A lot of them did make it to the fleet, I meet a few of them and they're marines. That's all that matters.
Can you post a link to this study? or is it one of those imaginary ones you use?
@@Krevin1775 I'm not going to source my youtube comment. Have you ever heard of google? Look at the troop numbers in 2010 and 2021, force design 2030 which plans to cut even more troops, and finally you should know that the Marine Corps has the least amount of female to male ratio compared to the other branches.
What ever happened to, “if it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it?”
that got thrown out the window when congress elected painted toenails-having, manicure-attending, effeminate “men” to run the military as generals. meanwhile, the strong leaders get thrown into the brig.
why fly a female from California to NC when you can train her more locally. they split dudes up with the Mississippi river. there is no reason to not for females.
@@RebelSoule they arent as capable
The government happened.
So we should never evolve?
"They're making history."
Using that as a reason to stick female and male recruits together is asinine.
Just like Army Ranger school putting females through, it was learned later that the tests were modified to allow their desired result.
You're setting these recruits up to fail in the service.

It's happens at Paris Island
That's true! As a wounded combat veteran of the Vietnam War, this sickens me to see a WM barking orders at young male recruits. Female DI's, should be instructing women recruits; NOT men, period. If the late DI R. Lee Ermey, were alive, he would NOT approve of this cluster f**k. Back then, in the sixties, when I went through boot camp, it was much tougher, and if you screwed up, you were struck by your DI in a way that you wouldn't forget. And there were times, when the whole platoon would have to pay the price if you screwed up, just like in the movie "Full Metal Jacket", and a blanket party, which doesn't exist anymore, was encouraged to punish and straighten you out so you wouldn't do that again. The reason why this was done, which I and other young Marines finally discovered, was to keep us from screwing up war, and to instill discipline. Also, can you imagine a female DI coming into the squad bay in the morning getting guys in their skivvies out of the rack? Can you imagine a male DI coming into the squad bay getting young girls in their skivvies them out of the rack? Finally, there is no way you can have young men and women training, or fighting together, because feelings and attractions are bound to take place, which can impact the fighting efficiency, especially in war. In Vietnam, the longest I went without a bath or shower was a month, do you think that women could do the same thing, given the complexities of their bodies? Now, if you can't understand what I have said, then you are clearly thinking-impaired. Semper Fi.

So other than drill and field training, the units are segregated. At least they were in April, when I was discharged from MCRD San Diego

This was a big mistake. I am a Hollywood Marine. But i was stationed over in Parris Island. I can firmly say after seeing and being with both training depots. Integrated and female combat training is much different and less effective to their male counter parts. I can't imagine the sex related problems they must have had. I left right when Echo company was the first to try integration with 4th Battalion. We had problems with male Marines and female recruits fucking quite often. So i cant imagine male and female barrack integration.
Parris Island has been Integrated for years at this point. This has been done on multiple occasions. Three out of four companies in Third Battalion aboard MCRD PI have been integrated since 2019, before all the COVID restrictions.
Graduated golf company on west coast, had the second female platoon in our company. Everyone could tell they got treated noticably better than the rest of the recruits. Even drill instructors complained about how it was all political BS. They made them look good on the outside but the platoon was a disaster. Tons of them fell out on every hike, MCT hikes were even worse. I don't respect the females less as marines. But I think their integration was handled quite poorly and was focused on politics more than actually making quality marines.
I can agree as I was in 2141, but I know the more integrated san diego eventually gets, the more figured out they’ll have it. I feel like a big reason why we were getting babied is because we werent like lima where the recruits were the creme de la creme. Our platoon was suppose to be the first average platoon that you would’ve seen in Paris Island. A big problem with that is from what my drill instructor said, that san diego is way more physically demanding than the east. When a bunch of recruits started breaking, it was easier to retain them then to drop them all the way to paris island where they would eventually have to restart. So a lot of girls who wouldve gotten dropped in the east didnt unless it was necessary. Mct was a whole other ballgame, but thats the jist of bootcamp

@@seamac7564 I was LIMA Co. 3113. Senior Drill Instructor was SSgt. Castillo, SSgt. Johns, and SSgt. Hicks. If you were there in September 2002, you probably smoked me.
@@RandomPoolGuy84 I was a 2d Bn hat, not a 3d Bn hat, I probably saw you getting smoked, I never IT'd another platoon unless their SDI green-lighted it which never happens because DIs love their recruits too much to give them to someone else.
@@seamac7564 Hahaha! If you say so. Every DI I walked past had some reason to correct me. Though now that I think about it, only LIMA Co. smoked me. Other DI's just had me do about-face and yell at me for one reason or another. "Go touch my tree right now! Touch my wall right now! Touch my grass right now! ZE-RO!"
@@RandomPoolGuy84 Memories, sure, all you do is yell, doesn't matter if the recruit is yours or not, but IT...those were your DI's.
Man I remember thinking DI’s were hard asses when I first joined. Then after a year and a half in the fleet I had a bigger ribbon stack then all of my DI’s as a Lcpl.

Amazing. I'm part of marine Corp family. My brother on the 90 and my nephew in May 2022. Always a marine family .#usmc
Sgt Kaufman taught a few of my history classes in boot camp. She was cool, good for her.
Brooo I just graduated from platoon 3242 Lima co 3rd RTBN its so trippy to see this.
China and Russia are stoked about this!
It’s just changes with the time.. I was in the Army back in 1992 all male basic training,AIT and my unit. But I know time waits for no one
In order for a woman to pass any military training, the physical standards have to be significantly lowered. I saw it in basic training. Women didn't have to do as many pushups, pull-ups, sit- ups, etc. Their run time standards were also lower. Just wrong. That is not equality.
agreed. if a woman steps in at her own will she should face the facts and work through just as men do. if you don't like that you shouldn't be there to begin with. it all shows on the battlefield in the end
Lima company graduating earlier this year was also integrated...when I was in bootcamp I learned from guys stuck in RSP who were there during that time that there was some wild shit going down...the guy heard the drill instructors talking one time about an incident up north where CLP was used for, well, something it wasn't really designed for. The moral of the story? Horny recruits do not make good recruits. I don't know why we can't learn this. The whole reason the Marine Corps is better at what they do than any other branch is because we don't do things like other branches do them...and our victories of the past decades have demonstrated the effectiveness of our methods. What's next? Apparently, a whole lot. We might even see civilians bypass bootcamp and become Marines in order to enter more quickly into the cyber field. How will that affect unit cohesion? It's the same thing. I only hope that some travesty won't have to happen in order to help our leaders see the flaws in their decisions.
Thank that political ass kissing commandant Berger. He's ruining our Corps
Three years after I was discharged my old drill instructor moved next door with her family. We became best friends.
Cool story
Yeah thanks for sharing
So I plan on joining the Marines this year. Will boot camp be integrated from now on? I am 25 years old and joining a little late but given that im older this bugs me way more if thats the case. I am older and mature and I want to experience this the way it was intended. With only men...
YOURE not gonna be in a male and female combined platoon. If you go to San Diego you may likely be in the same company as a female platoon but that’s it, I graduated from San Diego in an integrated company but we rarely ever interacted with the females
@@DTaze I'm in the east coast, does that mean parris island for me?
I was at Parris Island just passing through by Greyhound bus. I just landed in Charleston AFB from Frankfurt. I decided to ride the bus back home to LA and made 1 day stops at South Carolina (Intrepid carrier), New Orleans (Natchez ferryboat), and Las Vegas (won $300). Side note: LA flight to Atlanta to New Jersey bus to McGuire AFB with some 7 other guys some from my basic training days in military uniforms to get plane to Frankfurt. Baggage was 1 duffle bag.
Cool story, bro. Who the fuck cares?
The people in the comments you hear saying integration won't work in 2021 are the same people in the 1940s who were against integration in the military - based off race.
Although I understand races don't have strong differences and genders do. I'm just saying.
You just contradicted your first point in your second point. Gender and race are completely different. So are they the same kinds of people?
As long as they have different grooming and physical standards they will never be looked at as equals.
How do i know what the comments are going to be before i read them?
MCRD Parris Island 2nd BTLN Hotel Company Class 2081. graduated Oct 2001, right after 9/11. Semper Fi !!!!
This doesn't actually answer the question, yes the recruit base is now intergrated, so what, so is PI, but are the PLATOONS INTERGRATED? That is what matters.
From the footage it appears the females are still in their own company, and platoons, and have their own DIs, & same with the males.
Wouldn't be advisable to integrate platoons, as the heads will be rampant every night
Colonel Palma. Such a great man. Was so sad when he left the depot 😔
Agreed. He was the Battalion Commander while I was in 3/3 and the best BN CO I had while I was in the Corps.
The first Female Marine was Opha May Johnson. She enlisted in 1918. Females have gone through boot camp and earning the title Marine at Parris Island SC since 1949.
So don’t get it twisted and assume that this is the first time women are allowed to become Marines.
No it’s not! But when she came through she came through with other women in 4th Bn like it should be. Let women be women and stop trying to turn women into men. Respect the traditions of the Corp. that is just one reason the slogan “ The Few The Proud was indoctrinated into the Corp. self. Pride to battle against your gender peers. So what happens when you get a platoon of 56 young men and only 3 females??? No disrespect but females can’t physically compete with males. What happens when a male recruit ends up hurting a female recruit in training??? Because he hit her to hard. This was not thought of clearly. This was a grease my palms and I will make it happen. Congress needs to be put on notice and called to the carpet to explain this chit. '
What the hell are you talking about?! Did you actually pay attention before commenting? It's about integrated boot camp training, not the effing first time women are allowed to become Marines. You wanna talk about not getting it twisted...😑
I wonder how the mental toughness of U.S. Marine infantry soldiers might be
against psychotronics and how they recognize it, dooping one...
How to recognize and react to artificially EM induced sleepeness
for example.
When I first heard about this, I can only think about many problems that can have in the long run regardless of leading to failure 😞
Dipshit politicians should let the Marines run the Marine corps
And at the 6:17 mark...I decided this is stupid. This guy really said boot camp is harder now than ever? GTFOH! Also I don't care if you man, woman, or whatever. If you can handle carrying a full battle rattle Marine in combat and hump 10 miles then carry on.
Sorry. I love The Corps. Don’t change whats already a proven winner for hundreds of years!
No disrespect to my sister Marines.
That one lady drill instructor @1:35 have enough energy to power a city 🌃.
I went through boot camp with Lima company at this exact time. I was follow series so we didn’t see a lot of 3241, but seeing the cameras around was crazy. I swear we had more people at our EGA ceremony than any other in Marine Corps history I think.
WTF is going on… lol
Just can't take female DI's seriously. Zero fear instilled from them.
As someone who had the female DIs get in my face they were scarier than the male DIs
I met a number of them through my time some on the drill field and not. There was no fear from them whatsoever. And the over acting and try hard attitudes didnt help. I dont doubt their dedication and professionalism, but I do doubt that around week 8 any male recruits will give a shit what they say and a number of them will probably even get checked by some guys. And it'll take the male DI's to control the platoon ultimately.
@@Uncommon_Valor you're joking, right?
c'mon man.....
I only had a female DI during receiving couldn't take her seriously at all until the male DIs came from there on only male DIs completely different story there

@@WarriorMasterTrainer It’s because he can’t stand women yelling at him.

I was 0311 2008-2012. Female marines make me laugh. I support them but if I had a female marine yelling at me in boot camp. Lol I can’t take this seriously. We had a couple female marines attached to our unit they all ended up getting sent home from Iraq. One got pregnant. A bunch of grunts around some comm women. It’s gonna happen no matter if you’re in Iraq or not lol. But training together in boot camp that’s just funny to me
This isnt the first integrated bootcamp though... The Marine Corps has been experimenting with integration on and off for a long time.
And how did that experiment go?

Is this because the recruiting numbers are down?
I think the woman that served in our Marine Corps have done amazing work through out the years. Proud to have served along side some amazing ladies. I served 94-98, I truly hate what this BS woke destruction of manhood, womanhood, and our military in general. The people in charge that were put there to dumb down and weaken our fighting readiness have succeeded. Im disgusted with what they've done to my Marine Corps. Between the mandated jabs, to open gays (don't ask dont tell worked fine), to this new crap. You've officially weakened our readiness ans our history will look back to these moments ans ask why no one stopped it, I'm sure the woke so feelings weren't hurt will suffice when we start losing our country from the beta males we start producing. Semper Fi but this makes me very disappointed.
Right, because we would have won in Iraq and Afghanistan in your ideal world. If only we could do things like we did in Vietnam...
Don't ask don't tell was... ok for a time. I was a lesbian and serving, and thankfully I had (for the most part) great leadership. I couldn't hide it well, and didn't flaunt it. Just was obvious with the short hair, mannerisms and the fact I never had a bf. It sucked when I wanted to get married and move in with my GF of 3 years, as I had to continue to live in the barracks. Again, thanks to great nco's, I was authorized to live with her while maintaining a barracks room, which was to be inspection ready and appear as if I lived there. Rent was outrageous near post, and I felt like a second class citizen. I rarely complained, as I knew what I signed up for. It was hard though. Deploying and coming home, not being able to say goodbye and hello like everyone else. The person I loved getting sick, needing care, and because we weren't allowed to marry I couldn't help, or take time off.
I didn't want to flaunt it, I just wanted to serve like my father did, have a family and make a career. I was great at my job, loved it and I was never an issue for anyone. Now others like me can serve, and have their loved ones cared for just like other spouses and children. I think for signing a blank check to uncle Sam, this isn't too much to ask for.
Calling people beta males is about as beta as you can get. Pretty ironic, really.
Agreed

Seniors going with the flow to get that retirement
As a Marine i dont think i could have put up with some screaming undisciplined woman screamimg at me like some hormonal housewife sounding off over some dishes i left for her to wash.
Until a single one can beat me in a fist fight I shouldn’t be forced to pay for them to “defend me”
Sure we can train together but those standards better be the same
I remember when they showed up it was 0400 and I heard the most unusual screaming all the way down at receiving and I was in golf company the farthest away. But it still woke me up haha and I got blasted by one of there drill instructors for no reason but that's boot camp 🤷

@@usmcmma who never served?
On the surface it may appear harmless.
However by design it is meant to reduce Marines to ordinary SIMP men.
Truth be told, P. I. had serious Gulf War vets, like loco type.
Even a few of them had to work overtime trying to mold several men into Marines.
Then there is the stage where if the D. I. could get away in hurting real bad a recruit even killing him, he would.
In fact they enjoyed it.
They enjoyed it so bad, a D. I. would pick a recruit with similar qualities to punish the entire platoon on more than occasion until they cried like little girls. 🤣🤣🤣
He knew there were no limits, only the limits the USMC set on him.
With a 150 confirmed kills, he was no joke.
I still wonder where SGT. Loper is right now.
Only one female platoon graduated from San Diego before they pulled the plug till 2028. The data results showed the female Marines scored lower than in Paris Island. Mainly during 2nd phase.
Female Drill Sargent has the tiniest cutest voice omg ❤️ she really roars when she's talking to her soldiers though, I respect the fuck outta that 🤘
When I went to war, not one female could “man” the .50 cal and always had issues with the charging handle. We go to the field and most of them get sick chits. Send a company or platoon of female only Marines in combat and lets see how they go against the enemy.
